First on the PC, add the ports to the Windows Firewall, or disable it (not recommended). In the Router's Application and Gaming section for Port Forwarding, add all the ports there also .. Unless you changed the ports in the Webcam Server section: 80, 4550 and 5550 For port forwarding on the Router: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12156

how to check authentic geovision cards

If its new, it should come with 8.12 now, some even may be shipping with 8.2. not sure about that though. Basically if you buy one now and unless it is second hand, then it should not have 7.0. You can also check with Geo to make sure. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/1_4.asp

Looks okay. Make sure all the ports are forwarded in the new router, that means 4550, 5550, and whichever port you are using for HTTP, 80 is the default. 6550 port forward is only required if you are using Audio. Where are you running this script from, not the DVR though right? Also what OS does this PC have (the client). Any other software running like Nortons, or 3rd Party Firewalls?

    Standalone DVR vs PC-Based DVR

Not just the motherboard, that was just an example. CPUs sell out left and right, one day you can order the 2.2, next day it could be sold out and all they have is the 2.4 or 2.6 .. more $$ in some cases. Video Cards, Computer Cases, same thing. Memory and Hard Drives are really about the only thing that you can always get, that although they do change in price, its normally for the better, where you get more memory/disk space for less, for example. If you dont mind shopping around and shipping from multiple stores then its fine .. but me I cant do that .. thats lots of extra shipping and time. Best way would be to stock but not enough sales for that down here. if I buy local store (not online), just the parts, I get a warranty, but its not much and the product costs triple in most cases. Also its rare that I can even get what I need down here, for a PC DVR. So it really does depend on where you live and whether you will stock or buy per order.

BTW, Invalid Version means Incompatible Webcam Version, according to Geo anyway. But ive seen it occur before when the versions were the same and put it down to being a webcam bug, such as when it disconnects too fast while it is trying to connect. Basically these are events, and they rely on the Webcam Server on the DVR .. the ActiveX has to be a compatible version though or it wont know what is what. Ive tested from 7.0-8.12 without issues using the 7.0 ActiveX (i also have the 8.xx but had issues before so did not integrate that as yet) but never tested on 8.2 yet. Ofcourse varying connection issues can cause strange event messages also from my experience.

Hi, Server Close means the Server closed the connection, basically the Webcam Server Stopped. (some times you can get that error for other unknown reasons though) What version is on the DVR you are connecting to? make sure you are adding the camera numbers in correctly also, such as Camera 1 on the DVR will be Camera 0 in the script, Camera 2 will be Camera 1 in the script, etc. as Geo uses Zero based numbering in their ActiveX. Make sure all Ports are forwarded in the router also. Data, Command, and HTTP ports.

Yes, it will not work unless you install the LiveX from here: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/LiveX7Install.zip The standard version you currently have installed does not have all the functions required.

    Standalone DVR vs PC-Based DVR

one thing that has started to frustrate me with the PC systems is the actual computer hardware .. unless you have a tested system and buy a bunch of the parts and keep ready built PC DVRs in stock .. you now have to put up with things like products being discontinued the day you goto order, you find a motherboard worth using then 3 months later its either replaced by the manufacturer for another or they messed it up with a new Bios .. Sorry venting .. but just getting Fed up now .. Also, I just had a job where it involved placing a DVR in a room behind an elevtor shaft .. lots of Dust and no real air .. well was not that bad .. but Hell on earth for a regular Computer, even built the PC for it but decided against it when I was inside there pooring with sweat at NIGHT .. add the necessary fans to keep it cool in all that heat, then you get tons of Dust going into the case and all over the hardware .. then its just basically circulating hot air anyway .. middle of the day being 90+ outside, then dont talk about the Summer .. anyway, slapped one small Avermedia EB1304 in there, little board, no fans at all .. thing runs like a Gem, dont even feel any heat inside the little case, hard drive is even a good enough temp. Not many features but it works, and it costs less than the PC DVR. Downside is if anything other than the hard drive goes bad .. cant replace that here. Has no power supply BTW, it has the extra piece on the cord.
  13. Linksys Wireless Bridge .. its $150 in the Bahamas. Then the Linksys Wireless Router .. using the clients.
  14. Yeah thought I remembered that Laundry mat from somewhere . .its been a while since i looked at that
  15. Wonder if wireless would work .. or probably too much metal .. to scorpion .. maybe install a Wireless Bridge at the DVR .. but the wireless router/switch would need to be somewhere up top probably so the signal wont need to try to go through the elevator metal. PS. i just connected a Linksys Wireless Bridge to this EB1304 NET for the same reason, but its just a couple walls between the DVR and the router .. they just dint want to run any more cable ..
  16. Going to take a guess .. is it the Nuvico? Also, it pauses all other cameras that are not shown, so the less cameras the faster the video, hence when in a single view you get full speed ahead
  17. Will wait for the night shots .. dont see any street lights or excessive lighting that could pose an issue though. Daytime I didnt have issues with any of the cameras i tested
  18. Hnmmmm .. been disabling services for the Eee PC recently so dont want to get it mixed up .. will post something this weekend though .. also the real issue is that different DVRs may require different services .. but will post some safe ones to disable ..

video monitoring software with GV cards HELP

Not on a web page, short of making your own activeX to create Hotkeys, but even then Im not sure if ActiveX inside a webpage can register Hotkeys or not.
  20. Exactly .. different locations with different lighting .. also Infrared is hardly needed in my case, just needed a color image in the day and BW at night. This place was an extreme case (really needed a Panasonic WDR!).. anyway dont tell my other client cause i still need to install these 2 nuvicos at his location Nah he knows the results .. but his place should be fine.

    try to connect

Bandwidth seems fine, almost real time, though not much to test it against at this ungodly hour of the morning doubt the ISP will care that much either ...

    Reviews of GenIV DVR

yeah but its still low quality, even outside of the moving vehicle everything else is blurry. Same with alot of Cards, Geo included. I just want to know where this amazing H264 quality is that we hear so much about ..

    Reviews of GenIV DVR

not to mention, first you need good video coming into the system .. Ive used Raw Video methods like VidCap with Bt drivers and no compression, and still the video was not very good in most cases .. so time as they then compress it .. even worse ...
