Qvis Apollo HD - Passive hdmi baluns not working at 48 ft.
rory replied to lowpro's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Also check they support the display the DVR is set to. -
before multichannel DVRs became more popular (and cheaper) I used them for a few years along with single channel DVRs. Was also alot cheaper than buying the multichannel DVRs at the time. Prior to that I only used them for a short time with VCRs and yeah that was hell trying to locate evidence. They still have their use in some rare cases today, eg. if you want to split out a bunch of cameras from a DVR that has no loop out, to another monitor. Although the live video is not generally real time on a multiplexer. Due to the cost of them vs a dvr it makes little sense to use them these days in most cases.

Can you even run HDMI to 48' without some kind of amplifier? -
The only thing that doesnt work 100% with PSS on a mac is the audio. Otherwise you should be able to use it the same way as with Windows. As long as you can open the port 37777 on your router using the mac then you are good to go. The Mac routers I used didnt have an option for DDNS so you may have to run an update program on the Mac for that purpose, if you dont have a static IP or Domain already (for remote access). You can actually set the entire DVR up using PSS now. I even change the local port on the DVR using PSS. As well as all the user/passwords. In some cases I have someone else goto the site and plug it in, its recording out of the box, then once they give me their IP I go on and set it all up.

For the DVRs I use ... it has its issues which others dont - specifically in the network view, not local view. Other than that its okay. Ive since switched to mostly KT&C though, get the Sony Effio for only a couple dollars more. And its a higher res camera, although that matters little unless you have a DVR that supports it, which most dont. That said the camera I use would depend on the application. I still use CNB for certain things, eg. WDR Domes, and I use KT&C for others, and even unknown brands for other applications. Every camera location is different and the camera used should not be limited by a brand name.

That model you posted seems like its an old discontinued model anyway. I think this is the outdoor equivalent to that camera, except in a normal vandal housing this is the outdoor version of the dfl-20s, cheap color only cameras. http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1155

Hidden camera's from a 2nd floor flat.
rory replied to Eric the Poor's topic in General Digital Discussion
With board cameras you normally wont get anything as sensitive as a box camera like the Panasonic, unless you get a BW only camera. Even the day night ones will just be minimal and would be digital day night such as used with Color IR cameras. For low light apps using mini bullets or board cams we typically just use the KT&C BW cameras now, the lower res model sees more in low light than the 600TVL models so we tend to use those more, eg. in the clubs, same goes for the exview models. I would keep the bullets for outdoors or areas where they need to be weatherproof. The board cameras are the same exact camera but you can make your own housing, hide them, whatever you want with them. -

If the lens is small enough like a fixed board lens of a bullet or board camera, you could use some dark screen used for windows, they use them in some hidden cameras to help conceal the internal parts. -
Whoever told you that has no clue about CCTV and perhaps should be a cashier at macdonalds instead.

I put some info about the firmware just incase: ------------------- About Dahua Firmware 2.608.0000.6.R Release Date: October 18th, 2011 This firmware was not obtained from Dahua's website and therefore should not be considered an official firmware release for your DVR. It was however released to certain suppliers and advanced users. This is not the TEST version, this is an actual RELEASE, hence the R in the file name. If you are unsure please consult with your supplier. If you flash the incorrect firmware to your DVR the device will either need to be sent back to your supplier or it may no longer work at all. One example are the LE-AS/AN DVRs (AKA QVis Zeus) - these do not have an RS232 port which will make it difficult to fix, so DO NOT flash this firmware to that model, as this firmware IS NOT for the LE-AS/AN model. This firmware is ONLY for the following Dahua DVRs: LE-A, HE-T, LE-L, LE-S, 3204LE-U Updates included in this firmware: (Chinese to English translation) 1) increase in color management, with N6. 2) to solve the problem of poor VGA display. 3) to solve 9-channel jitter. 4) video buffer overflow handling strategy (V7 features a special hard disk). 5) to solve the problem of slow query video. 6) Adjust the disk group page display problems, page layout through N6. 7) priority unified audio: voice intercom> local audio playback> Audio Preview. 8) multi-line overlay. 9) to solve only the first 1,9,17 Road 24 on the road can be set to D1 resolution problem. 10) different encoding settings in video mode, audio will use the same switch to control, either while on or off simultaneously. 11) hope to modify the server host IP network DDNS default: members.3322.org. 12) support IE9. 13) will be "UPNP" string to "UPnP", with a unified UPnP SDK agreement. 14) UPNP memory leak problem. 15) repair the overlay, the characters too broad issue. 16) stream is too large to solve low light problems. 17) modified 28XX registers, to solve the problem white screen. 18) 32 Road, then up and down keys during playback device channel-cut problem. 19) 32 Road Equipment Preview split switch problem. 20) VFD screen to solve the problem off the network lights constantly. 21) amendments to 24-way device, the first eight rounds of normal patrol, patrol out after 16 rounds of a mess of problems. 22) to modify the value of fixed inspection sensitivity {2,3,5,10,30,60}. 23) Cisso router, DHCP on dial-up call is not the problem. 24) to write the log card to solve the problem

Recommendations for a 8CH DVR setup for a liquor store.
rory replied to techwhizard's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I would still suggest Dahua, just not sure if QVis sell them with the PAL firmware or not. Although if you got the LE-A or Apollo HD model I could easily get the PAL firmware for that, the Zeus or LE-AS/AN are harder to come by. Indoor color or other? Domes or other? KT&C have some 700TVL color indoor domes for really cheap right now. -

These are all NTSC DVRs as far as I know. If you need pal you may have to buy from a country that uses PAL. -
Gotta be some way to flash it though, like going straight onto the board itself? If the manufacturer can do it ... so should we

Dahua is so easy to setup, even a cave man can do it

the amount of light, that is outputted, eg. the light your eyes or the camera can see. the difference of light is like that between a 50 watt light bulb and a 100 watt lightbulb, the average spot or dusk to dawn being the latter. For 30x the price and less light .. thanks but no thanks, ill stick to conventional lighting from now on - plus that is one less thing we have to install.

All I know is from my experience with it, and it basically sucks. IMO its useless for video surveillance and a total waste of money. Just because people use something doesnt mean its good (eg. cocaine)

Just need something that can scan through the frames and look for changes .. check out this program http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16055 also avidemux lets you save all the frames from a video as jpegs. then just need something to compare them. -
PSS Software and Auto Scan on multple channels at full scree

yes you would setup a task, or a project with multiple tasks. A single task lets you sequence between cameras in one view. it can be 1-way, 4-way, 16-way etc. Several tasks added to a PROJECT will let you sequence multiple views eg. 1-way 10 seconds, 16-way 20 seconds, etc. I have an article about tasks on my site, nothing on projects but its in the same section. Hidden camera's from a 2nd floor flat.

Could even take out the IR cut filter all together .. ive done that before and well daytime sucks as far as the colors go .. but nightime is awesome .. Ofcourse if its a bullet cam or such its going to be permanent as whether its a glass filter glued to the chip or the paper type on the ICR ... still gonna break it. Box cam you probably could just detach it safely. -
no thats not dahua.

I wouldn't block the lens with tint though, or anything else for that matter. -
forgot to add .. it is NOT an official firmware update for QVis, unless you get the firmware from the QVis website.
