    Exview Camera Help

The specs dont say if it is a True Day Night from what I have found on their site and others. Alot of OEMs are selling Exview Color cameras as Day Night when they are not, even big brands are doing it. Exview as mentioned will switch to a "monochrome" mode but it is nothing compared to the BW Mode of a BW camera or even a True Day Night camera. The BW mode is simply to provide the user with the ability to use IR and get "some" additional sensitivity under low light. As you know Exview Color is already very sensitive and can come pretty close to a standard BW camera at 0.1 lux. When that switches to Monochrome some users will think that is a True Day Night, but the way to tell is to look for an automatic IR cut Filter - listen for it when you make it switch from color to BW, you should actually see it also as it goes back and forward in front of the chip. Basically as with many cameras these days out of Korea they are performing the switch to BW Digitally (removing the chroma - color). Cant say that is what this camera is doing though without more information.

    What is this called?

They sell direct, just shoot them an email. Its not much actually, but it has limitations (has to be a certain Coax cable) Or do a search on google for VDS2500 to find some distributors.

    Exview Camera Help

Not all Exview cameras are made alike - basically. There are various Exview Chips and they are based on price, more you spend better the chip is. I used expensive Exview before and it worked great, Ive used cheaper before and it worked ... good ... Ive used cheap recently and it was just so so .. would not pick up as much side by side with the mid range priced Exview .. also depends on the manufacturer and how they preset the camera. Please give us the exact specs of this Exview camera, is it BW, Color, or True Day Night? With 580 TVL it sounds like BW only, though a True Day Night would be something like 480TVL Color then 570-600TVL BW. If it is just a color Exview then dont expect much, the BW mode it goes into is just for picking up IR (hence no IR Cut Filter) but it is not even close to being as sensitive as a basic BW only camera. Bottom line is the camera needs light. Exview takes light from the image then spreads it around the image, basically. Which is why when it gets darker and darker it gets more pixelized. Little yard lights do very little for cameras, so they wont help the exview much. The other snapshots you posted are common with IR Domes, which is why I never used them. Also, that 0.003 lux is inaccurate for Exview, average 0.1 Lux Exview Color or 0.01 Exview BW (Faceplate can be less). Lastly, an F:0.95 lens would make the world of difference. I dont know how dark it actually looks so hard to tell, maybe get a Color shot out there if you can, if it is pitch dark in color then the images arent that bad.
  8. Hi, i know I may be able to search the online PC store and find out, but, well that takes forever sometimes, anyway, I have a couple questions anyway, so Ill take care of them all at once. #1 Is there anything that can do this. I have a PC that already has a keyboard, connected to a plasma. Client wants to browse the web from the same PC on another Plasma downstairs. Is there for starters, an adaptor that allows 2 keypads at once. Secondly, is there someway I can extend the monitor output over 100' to the downstairs Plasma? The existing plasma uses a special video card, as its old, so changing that is a no no. I guess I can just buy an extra video card for the new Plasma downstairs, but what about running the cable for it?? Also, what about running a keyboard all the way down there? If there is an adaptor, can I just run my own wire, and say splice the wire used for those wireless keyboards?? We can run wires so thats not an issue, been there done it, youd be amazed at how we got wires run in this 1940 concrete home with barely any attic ! #2 Is there any way to get the store folder for Outlook Express set to the drive of another computer on the same router? can this simply be done, by sharing the other computer, and then mapping that drive?? I dont have my network set up here to test it, yet, but client would like that on another Plasma she has, which has a seperate PC just for browsing the web. Also, is there a way to set it up, where the messages can be downloaded on the second PC, but also downloaded to the other PC, without just setting it to leave messages on the server? I know. probably cant be done ..? Thanks RORY ----------------------------------------- peace and unity once its CCTV its all good -----------------------------------------

    Geovision questions.

Will try You kind of answered your own question; 8 channel card it is! I haven't noticed any real difference from one card to the next just as far as the motion detection function itself goes, but I would imagine the faster the card the better, overall. Yes you can adjust it per camera. No Difference other than the frames per second as far as video goes. The GV650 has 1 more channel of audio though. I've used the GV800 with an Intel 2.6 Ghz Celeron and 256MD DDR Memory before - it worked. However, that is using the older software, with 8.xx came the need for much more RAM and CPU, RAM even more important - its quite the memory hog now. Please take a quick look through the document here, shows some past tested configurations from GeoVision. I do see that Chipset with quite a few of the systems they tested. However, it is important to note they were also tested using the older software versions (5.3-6.1), can't say if that matters or not though. Yes there is a 6 way multi view. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/webnew.jpg Live Video - It will be the total number of available frames divided by the number of enabled cameras. Recorded Video - If using motion detection recording you would set it to Smart Motion Detection; it will adjust the total frames divided by the number of cameras with active motion detection. Not sure on this one as I never used alarms with the Geo. May want to start a new thread just on this one, or see if someone that knows checks this thread out. Not sure on that one either, would be the same as the alarms probably as far as them both using the Geo Input devices. Rory
  15. I always just use port 81, but Im simple Some ISPs may also block 81 though so you should be safer with the higher ports.

  20. This is something I posted a long time ago geared towards DVR cards, perhaps I can add your review in there also, as times have changed since then and the software may have improved in the case of some that I linked to there, and ofcourse there are now other software available as mentioned http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2021

    Software for BNC camera

Pico2000 is well known for its pirated versions out there, might be the issue you are having. Where did you buy the card from (just a general location)?

    DVRs and IP

Yep, thanks. It does have its place, even now, but unfortunately most that jump on the IP camera bandwagon these days have very little to no experience in the CCTV Industry prior. This becomes a problem. Their general view on CCTV cameras, or non IP Cameras, are those that they may see on news programs or youtube, typical washed out horrid images from mostly cheap cameras that had been in many cases improperly installed or more likely using cat5 or even telco wire without the correct TX and RX, using extra thin RCA wire, or the DVRs had not been setup properly or were just the bottom of the barrel and perhaps even cloned cards. Price does matter but experience and knowledge can be even more important. The jokiest part is when they think that CCTV techs have no knowledge of networks and computers. Meanwhile we have been dealing with that side of it for several years now (remote video) pretty much since the general introduction of broadband, and some of us even came from an IT background; even some of us are software developers specifically for internet related applications. The day when I can buy a True Day Night IR Bullet (No DSS, No OSD, nothing special, just a switching IR Cut Filter and 811x508 Pixels - this is even becoming an issue with CCTV bullets these days) - better yet Megapixel - that has IP and is Wireless, to just slap in a Linksys router that wont lock up due to bandwidth issues either .. ba da bing
