  2. webcam is not weatherproof, is USB, and software will suck. network cams start around $200 for the most basic. better than most axis Cameras

    Coming to America

end of this week for a couple days, anyone in the Miami Beach area, let me know.
  4. And I give you the ECL-596 PS. there are no analog cameras left these days
  5. I doubt the software is saving the password to the Bios, highly unlikely. Most motherboards only require a power down, then remove battery for 1 minute and replace, but that is for a standard BIOS not the DVR software. You will probably need to contact the manufacturer and if they dont have way to just reset it from the OS, or a back door admin pass, then see if they can send you the firmware to reflash it with (if it is an RTOS that is) or whatever they would do to wipe the hard drive/DOM/etc and replace all the software/OS with a fresh copy.
  6. First off, thanks for doing this! Can you test some of these? I have used these with bad results - maybe they just dont like the tropical weather http://www.seco-larm.com/EVPPT11_C.htm Also, can you post some snapshots to verify the end result please? (pretty please) Also, they should be tested using Cat5 cable one would buy from the local electrical store or utilizing existing basic network Cat5/UTP. And lets see some photos of Survtech in action, also some of the card tables too Oh yeah and the name of the Casino so we can do a group visit there one day to gamble some of our hard earned CCTV money
  7. How long has the camera been installed? I had a Sanyo pointed at the afternoon sun for over 6 years no issues, until one day the lens/AI feature went bad (never really got a chance to find the actual problem, just switched the entire cam and lens in that case as it was old), but we still had an image (just not great). Ive had at least 2 box cameras indoors where the AI stopped working (new lenses did not fix the problem, was just a black image like no lens was attached), was a power issue more than likely (they were not on a voltage regulator). Ive had other cameras pointed at the afternoon sun for years though and no issues (ofcourse better to not point them there).

    USB Webcam on GeoVision?

You would need to use a Video Server .. one that converts it to analog to place on the Geo card.

    Coming to America

LOL let me try that right now on my ciggies .. nahh Hotel bar was .. cough .. had a cheeseburger from there one night but that was it .. looked okay and all but remember I stopped drinking 1 year ago plus stopped the drinking in bars thing a few years back when i got into the late night software gigs. I got a taste of Miami though .. well America .. well a lot of South America too Running around the mall this morning (well last couple days) .. I wish I had more time (and more money!). Its amazing what is there in things as simple to most Americans as Sears and Macy's .. in fact Office Depot even impressed me .. except there were no REAL computer parts (mobos, CPUs, etc) there but they did have alot of accessories you cant get here, or what costs 10 times the price here. I could spend alot of time (and money) in all of those types of Stores. I saw a walmart in the other mall but due to being bogged down with a large bag already and a backpack full of tennis shoes could not check it out .. thats the place I was waiting for the bus wondering when i was going to get robbed! Wasnt overly impressed with what little CCTV i saw there .. some bullet cameras here and there, some domes, Sears etc had some more expensive looking domes but dark covers so I know it was crap (or at least could have been better) and the mall itself mostly had alot of wall mount camera housings (looked similar to Batco - elevator type). Airport had old Pelco housings everywhere, huge ones, so more than likely alot of old hardware. Crap, my Hotel didnt even have CCTV at all!! On the plus side I got one of these http://www.simpletech.com/parts/spu25120b.htm Quick question, are Buses allowed to run the red light now in the US? Cause the ones I rode ran the red lights straight through and just beeped their horns at other drivers!! and just for grins and giggles, a few photos http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach1.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach2.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach3.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach4.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach5.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach6.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach7.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/mia/miamibeach8.bmp

    rg59u twist on bnc problem

Never had a problem, but the ranger's solution sounds good. Make sure you didn't twist it too much so it broke, also make sure the center did not push the connector's pin forward, make sure it is either level of even a little lower in as it should be, and that it is easy to go on and off of the BNC female connection. Be certain there is some braid for ground, and also that the braid is not touching the center.

its their low resolution model though.

    intro

they could use a UF500 then it would light it up like day light .. but thats not gonna be cheap Plus the camera they are using is probably the start of the problem. to the OP, you could spend the money on the KTC-540E but you will need to know how to and have the tools to focus the lens properly - if not focused properly then it wont look good. Maybe just look at a BW Exview Bullet for now (comes focused and simple to install), or actually most True Day Night Bullets would probably be better than the Rat Chack camera you have PS. where is the picture?

    Coming to America

also was getting ready to take scorpion up on his dog house, my first room (had them move me to another one) had water pouring down from the ceiling right outside my door (busted sprinkler system probably) all day and night, then there was a jewish convention and that was right across from the door of my first room also .. lots of noise needless to say .. anyway they moved me to another old room on the 5th floor but at least it didnt have those problems, it just had a toilet that moved, dirty carpets, a TV that when you turned it on the volume always went up to max, and one of the beds sunk right down on one side (luckily there were 2 beds!), otherwise it was fine Basically, other than a few hundred a night hotels, which there are a couple it seems, that Miami Beach strip is full of broken down old hotels, many which have been closed and or are under renovation. Plus the one I was at was quite a distance from most basic stores so had to keep using buses or taxis. Next trip will go further north (scorp, dog house still available? perhaps the kitten litter box? )

thanks guys .. yeah thats too cold for me right now .. and lolo hope all is well? When I said Im back guys, I meant Im back in the Bahamas
  15. When you find that $50 IP camera let us know As to the orginaly question, check out Geovision GV250, the Geo software lets you run it minimized also, or go back and forth from full window to minimized. Also being it is a slower card, less likely to crash the system as much as a faster one. HOWEVER, the newer Geo software uses alot of RAM, so make sure you have at the least 1Gb but suggested 2GB and better yet, 3GB. Also, depending on the CPU you have, running other videos at the same time can cause major issues - when I ran mine on my regular PC I had to stop the DVR software to play other videos (on a 2GHz AMD - yes, the GV250 even ran on a VIA chipset in the old days, cant speak for the newer software though as have not tested it with Via). If at all possible, build or buy a seperate PC, you can use a KVM switch to use a single keyboard and mouse on 2 PCs.

    Coming to America

Im back .. really tired from all the buses and walking around malls and this and that .. next time will get a hotel closer to the stores .. anyway .. and oh yeah, felt like I was in South America with all the non stop spanish!! One of the front desk receptionists directed me to another mall, ended up being in what seemed to be a little Jamaica area of Miami, bag full of payless shoes and office depot gear and a pocket full of money waiting for a bus .. yep wont do that again!! Otherwise guess the area wasnt that bad cause if that was here I would have surely been robbed!! All the gangstas and the car washing on the side of the road as well as the Jamaican eateries everywhere you turn .. Cool , felt right at home Also, Miami beach isnt cheap, even McDonald's was $1 more than here!

    Coming to America

well im here guys, Miami Beach, lots of good looking females Anyway, went to Aventura Mall today and that alone took like 30-45 minutes each way, on the bus ofcourse, but lots of traffic still. By jove no way Im taking the bus way up north! And taxi's them seem to charge a fortune also
  20. Hi, unfortunately even with the SDK the only thing they give you for accessing the raw video is C++ sample code and even then the Geo main server software has to be open.
  21. Thats a good price, well below retail, but still above dealer cost. So should be fine. There are a couple vids on my home page which come from a GV800. I havent used the GV2008 yet but others that have said the quality is better than the Combo cards. Im of the island for a couple days but let us know how it works out. Rory
  22. The Included CenterV2 will let you view up to 5 DVRs: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/solution/GV-CV2_Intro.htm
  23. Hi, okay, though if its 100' away thats quite a distance. If the current 12 mm (thats what the google search came up with) is zoomed in too much, then maybe try an 8 mm or 6 mm. 100' is pretty far though, with a 4mm you wont be able to make out much after 50-75'. If you get a camera with a 5-50mm Varifocal Lens you can then adjust it on installation. If you dont need the IR, you could try a Day Night box camera then use a decent housing and a 5-50mm lens. The bullets can be somewhat easier though as its all in one. Panasonic, Bosch, GE, Sanyo, all have decent day night box cameras (make sure its one with an IR Cut Filter). Otherwise you could get the 5-50 with the IR then just use it or disable it by unplugging the IR cable inside the camera (if it has one). CNB has one without IR with a long varifocal zoom range, not sure how it is though as it uses DSS. You could get all enclosed day night cameras from Sanyo and Panasonic but they are very expensive. Otherwise Ganz and others have pre-configured kits with box cameras and housings. Problem will arise as you zoom that view out wider but if there is then more dark in the image than there was when it was zoomed in, it will not see as much in the darker areas. The IR will help where it can, up closer at least, though the beam is probably narrow like 20 degrees, 30 degrees if lucky. If it is not too dark though the BW mode the True Day Night camera will go into will generally work well under most low light situations - too dark though and it will pixelise and or not see much of anything. Hard to tell though without seeing the location, some plans, or photos of the area/desired focal view. Rory

    Geo no more fullscreen?

I dont use Remote Desktop so Cant help you there. Also check that the login is set to full screen though, and the login user has not changed and has permissions to enter full screen. Also make sure Direct Draw overlay is enabled.
  25. Hi How is the wire spliced? Can you get a monitor to it and test it at the camera? Did you meter the wire to double check it still has power? Test it at the camera, if it is good, then just have to redo the video connection (braid to braid, center to center).
