It is dual cameras, 2 cameras, and with any day night app it requires night time adjustments. In this case it additionally requires the color camera to be focused and adjusted for the daylight (full light), and the BW camera to be focused and adjusted at night, or in pitch dark if it has IR. Also requires the camera physically adjusted under pitch dark for the IR beams. So yes, certainly will take additional time to set it up properly. Mind I'm sure some installers just stick the cameras up and forget about them, I've cleaned a few of those jobs up in the past. PS. Ive installed dual camera IR apps for years. And yes single cables coming out the back of the cameras too PSS. which model were you talking about also, CNB or another? They do look neat, especially as they are half the cost of the EX82s
-
Yes, Dual is always better, I use the EX82's typically, when the client can afford it that is. Either way, keeping them separate is the way to go, for ultimate Day Night Infrared quality. BW camera for the night, or low light, color for the day. Requires additional time spent on setup but it is worth it.

A nice large knowledge base like Microsoft has, would be cool. I've never had to call or email them in my life. -

Happy to see Arecont on the forum -
Hi, sorry no work around for the second monitor thing. As to the not starting up, maybe a security app like nortons blocking it?
-
If the cameras are installed, they should already have power to them.

So we should stay clear? -
Thanks, I'll take a look at those. Yeah Freeport is actually a 45 min or so flight from here, not to mention the wait at the airport prior to boarding and the chance that the flight is a few hours late leaving is next to guaranteed Snow .. arghh ... been *cold* here lately but no snow as yet!
-
Think I'll take a flight up there so you can show me how to do it I'll check out 3m as an email to Etcon's site came back to me. Any idea where to buy them? (PM me if you know of any retail or distributors please), thanks.

Accidents, and Security? If you are blamed for an accident, at least in the US I believe that goes on your record right? -
750nm will also be more light for the camera than the 900. Anyway, IR done right takes time, so dont do it if you want to run in and out of the clients site, as with any Day Night app you must spend some time there at night, but with the IR app, you need to adjust it in the day, night, and with IR on in pitch dark. The IR Day Night bullets are typically a bit easier than a professional IR Day Night setup. Visible Light is always the best, as you get a better image normally, no need for powerful IRs, and the light itself adds to security. Different cameras handle the IR differently, for example an expensive Box Day Night or BW only Camera may see some 100' with IR, while a cheaper bullet camera may only see about 40-60'. Many of the brand name expensive cameras will say specifically which IR range they support, such as up to 1100nm, while you would be pulling teeth to get that info from an OEM camera.

Is this for a quote or just to adjust the camera after it is mounted?

Yes, that is 30fps in live and 15fps in record, but buyer beware as with some DVRs that 120fps record can be in lower resolution such as 320x240. As to the hard Drives, typically you can use an off the shelf IDE Hard Drive, but that will depend on the DVR. Eg. Some GE DVRs require the drives to be specifically 5400rmp 3.5" IDE Drives. Also there is sometimes a limit on how large a hard drive you can have on a single IDE Channel.

Auto Iris Lenses are powered by the camera and the Iris opens and closes depending on the light changes.

CALL must be Asian for SPOT. Single Camera Output - can sequence or single view, but not multiplexed output. Looks like a bad board, not much you can do but send it back if it is a stand alone DVR. If its PC based thats another story and might be able to fix it (eg. bad video card etc) What DVR is this? Is this only occuring on the Network, or also on the Local Video on the Monitor? CRT or VGA Monitor? CCTV or Digital Monitor?

Whoops, just noticed he is getting 0 bytes on the FTP server, not email, anyway will leave the above message incase it is useful for something. I havent played around with FTP yet but having worked with code for uploading via HTTP Im sure it is not far off. Sounds like an FTP Server issue in that case, not the DVR. Check for logs if you can.

Having played around with creating my own Email Client and SMTP Relay Server (and get this, in VBScript, and yes, it actually works!! - to a degree), I have seen this before with attachments. Typically it would be an error in the Email client code though, so I would imagine the problem has to do with the DVR itself. Ofcourse it could be something else, such as the SMTP server or even the incoming email server, but basically its like this: The Email Client takes the attachments (in this case the DVR takes the image), converts to base64, which gives you a bunch of text in the Body of the email such as this: (see the header, then the image following that) -------------------------------- ------=_NextPart_001_03D9_01C861C7.74E351E0 Content-ID: Content-Type: image/jpeg; name="image001.jpg" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="image001.jpg" /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgAAZABkAAD/7AARRHVja3kAAQAEAAAAPAAA/+4ADkFkb2JlAGTAAAAAAf/b AIQABgQEBAUEBgUFBgkGBQYJCwgGBggLDAoKCwoKDBAMDAwMDAwQDA4PEA8ODBMTFBQTExwbGxsc Hx8fHx8fHx8fHwEHBwcNDA0YEBAYGhURFRofHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8f Hx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8fHx8f/8AAEQgARwGqAwERAAIRAQMRAf/EAKcAAAMAAwEBAQAAAAAAAAAA AAADBAECBQYHCAEBAQEBAQEBAAAAAAAAAAAAAQACAwQFBhAAAQIEAgUHCQUEBwcFAAAAAQIDABEE BRIGITFR0VJBkSKS0hMHYXGBsVOTFBUWoTJCI1TBYnII4YKy4jNzRPDCQ4N0lBej0yQ1RREBAAIB etc etc ... the amount of this depends on the size of the attachment. --------------------------------- Now, if you are receiving an email, that means it is being sent. If there is an error while encoding the image then you should not even receive the email. It should not send an empty attachment, though that is possible if they dont do proper error checking. It would appear that either the Email Client (DVR) is not encoding the attachment properly or there is an error during encoding it. Yet it is still sending the message, even with the attachment header but nothing there. If it gets interupted there still should be something, even if its not a complete image; not just 0 bytes. Using the above as an example, that is just part of an image, so it would still say something like 388 bytes, even if you cant view the image it sends (corrupt image-invalid). It is possible that it cannot read the image properly to encode it, such as the hard disk is bad, or there is no disk space left to save a temp file (if it works that way in their case), or its trying to send too many images at the same time. Anyway, something to consider.

I just realized I don't really need it when it is just on AC, infact need it to also be when on DC otherwise when the power is off and you close the lid it will still go into standby. SO, i need to check for the VGA output to see if another monitor is attached, instead of just for AC. Will let you know when its done.

The space in the EX82 housing is small so the cameras themselves are just guts of a small box type CCTV camera. There isnt much room to expand on that unless they made the housings larger or redesigned the interior some. They currently have 2 separate cameras similar to this: http://www.extremecctv.com/product_detail.php?producttype_id=8&page=1&product_id=83 First person that gets one to demo, let us know, doubt they are going to be cheap On a side note, had a photocell go bad in an EX82 and they just sent me a new one at no extra charge, from Canada to the Bahamas via UPS!!! Also sent me some screws for a couple of the older EX82s that need replacing. Also have had most of these cameras going for over 6 years now! (just added a few additional ones last year)

Rick, it almost appears you are alone in this thread So I thought I would make you feel like you were not.

looks similar to the GE housings. http://www.gesecurity.com/portal/site/GESecurity/menuitem.f76d98ccce4cabed5efa421766030730?selectedID=9290&seriesyn=true&seriesID= Also try Videolarm, they have alot of various housings. Ganz have some decent ones also, as does bosch. Pelco "types" that open from the front are typically the easiest to work with though.

Different Sized LEDs, different Powered LEDs, but, and this is a big BUT, you can have the largest array of LEDs in the world, but it will still depend on the camera itself.
