    GV-1240 Video Output Socket

If you use the configuration option it disables direct draw overlay and subsequently lowers live video quality. You should still get video from the DSP output without using that option, just will not be able to configure views. If there is still no video, make sure that option is first disabled (for now), make sure Geo is open, Geo card and software is legit and up to date.
  5. Nah, part of hacking means you need to get my IP yourself .. Also I dont run a typical windows server .. And Russians and Chinese? Sorry they cant touch me. I am always ready though .. go for it, first they gotta find me though ps. they got more chance of hacking into one of them Sanyos

how to increase camera video resolution???

Could be a couple things. For starters, VGA will be lower quality, if you can get a decent PCI-e or even AGP card with DVI and use that, it will help with some quality. Its also composite cameras into digital and enlarged to the screen resolution your GeoVision PC is using, when they are smaller images they should be very clear, when you blow it up, it will degrade. For example, a high resolution camera can be 811x pixels, while a low resolution can be 510x. Also the source would be no more than 640x480 or 720x480, while your screen resolution would be around 1024x768 or 1280x1024 (standard these days on LCDs). Im not sure if that CRT is the PC monitor or your video monitor? Anyway, once its blown up to full view, the image will become worse. Sit back from it a bit though and it should not look that bad. With the Combo cards though, you have the DSP RCA Output. for optimum live video quality, you would use that connected to a CRT Video Monitor. Honestly Its a trade off with PC based, live quality is typically not that good on PC DVRs, unless using the DSP output. Playback and other features is where it rules.
  10. Yeap Maxon probably uses an older IE core. Good to know it works.

    IR 840nm Filter

Back to this topic, was setting up an EX82 tonight in the garage (was raining). Anyway, so garage is 20-25' in length, eyes hurting a little but otherwise look normal. Anyway, spent about 20 minutes or so doing that. Question for those that might know, does IR reflection from the wall (where i was pointing the cameras IR) react the same as visible light or as looking at the IR LEDs? Or maybe the monitor just was hurting my eyes (dark with bright image on the CRT). And another question, can IR light from the LEDs burn the skin and does it contain radiation? Whats the risk of radiation, cancer, etc. of anything? Thanks!

Best Way To Set Up A Zoom Lens??

thats really if it is to be used for day night apps or as you have, a Zoom lens. If you have none of those focus it under low light like in early evening (or in a room where you can control the lighting), whatever you do, never focus it in full sunlight. If it has IR then the BW mode must be focused in the pitch dark with the IR on. Ive never used either the ND filter nor welders glass and always was able get a great 24/7 focus. Ofcourse your Chinese PTZ may be tricky.

how to increase camera video resolution???

Change the Source first, to 640x480 de-interlaced. Then go back to the camera 1 setup and change the recording resolution there to 640x480. Also change the quality to 5. Do the same with the other cameras. You wont really notice any difference between the 2 resolutions when in smaller windows (eg. 4 way, 9 way) but when you blow it up to full view, and recording, it will matter. LCD degrades the quality alot also. If you have DVI on the LCD use that as it will be higher quality (visually) than the VGA. Onboard will normally be VGA, so you will want to add a seperate video card if you want the DVI and higher quality. Also, the video adaptor on the Dell you have might just be a cheap one, as I have used Intel's 950 without any real quality issues. Additionally, using the DVR Cards DSP RCA Output. you could use an RCA cable to output the video to a CRT or any other high quality monitor (even just a TV) with a Composite Input. Lastly, it could just be bad quality cameras. 500 or so pixels is low resolution. Make sure you test them ALL on a high quality CRT monitor first, one at a time, and make sure they are all focused properly and 100% adjusted and setup before connecting them to the DVR.

    what power cable to use?

If its a CCTV Camera then you would typically use 18AWG cable for Power, as to the power supply that would depend on the current draw and voltage of the camera, also if you have more than one camera you might want to use a distributed power supply instead of a single transformer. 15. What country are you located in emtdvr? As that will dictate which DVR cards are available for you in your area.

Geovision DVR Card using linux embedded

You may be able to find some generic drivers for the GFV250 as you can on Windows, but either way, GeoVision software does not work on Linux. At that point it would then be best to just use another card that has drivers and software for Linux. Just because it is on Ebay does not mean it actually exists.

Geovision DVR Card using linux embedded

Hi, there are no drivers for Linux. Not sure if you can get some kind of Emulation working, I have never tried it though and really never used Linux myself, but if someone does please let us know. We do really need to move away from Windows at some point, Windows Vista is pretty much a disaster so something else has to be out there on the horizon, I would really wish that the DVR Card manufacturers are looking at alternative OS's now. We want something with the features of GeoVision, but something that doesnt require an OS like Windows Vista (eventually when XP is no more).

Geovision DVR Card using linux embedded

Hi Jose, Geovision only works on the Windows Operating System at this time.
  19. Hi, You could buy a 4 port video distribution amplifier. You could even just use a basic Audio/Video one with RCA connections, as it is all composite video.

    GV-600-4?

Like i said though, $380 is retail, if you can get it cheaper and can afford it, the card is good. Actually a GV650 would be better IMO but then I use those mostly for 8 channels, so the GV600 should be good for 4 cameras. go1984 doesnt come close to GeoVison software though, but if it works for you, thats all that matters.

    GV-650 4 port upgrade?

First uninstall the Geovision Software. (you can optionally remove the drivers now) Power down the PC and replace the card. Run the driver installation program again, it auto uninstalls first. Check the proper drivers are installed, then reinstall the Geovision Software.

    Help picking some cameras

Actually for his budget he cant afford any of those, I was recommending the Nuvico JV series which has an 8 channel at a budget price tag. Havent used the Nuvico Domes, but going by the specs they should be good - once the specs are at least close. I have to be honest though, the picture from all these new OSD cameras (or cameras with OSDs etc, all their Sense Up, Prevent Noise, etc) really put out some crappy images overall, and they arent even cheap. Precious memories of the camera generation before these where the images were actually decent .. now . .. its all changed .. I just trashed a new GE Day Night Camera I received as a demo, all those features and the IR Cut Filter still kept sticking .. I just threw it in the Garabage .. fed up, not one of its stupid OSD features makes the image look good anyways ($400 camera .. dont know what drunked tested that one!) going back to color bullets and BW exview bullets, they just work wanna see in the dark ... motion light .. $15! And they should change the meaning of the Vandal Resistant Outdoor Dome to Most Difficult to Install and not worth it in many cases .. PS. vent ova .. bottom line the manufacturers arent listening to us end users, we want simple to install and high quality, plug and play
