    Help picking some cameras

Could mean they put the IR Cut Filter over in the day. But then still typically True Day Night feature means 100% BW at night in higher resolution BW Mode and with more low light sensitivity. Seeing the mixed IR with color represents a camera without an IR cut filter, typically that is, a Color/IR camera or even an Exview Color Camera, for example. Ofcourse the spec sheet etc are most likely done by a marketing firm for them (US based company selling OEM cameras) so .. Honestly after having used their BW bullet camera recently I'm a little weary of anything their spec sheets say, though that can also go for most manufacturers, and OEM or not. PS. that stairs west one doesnt look like its fun to clean

    Help picking some cameras

Looking at the images above, it is showing IR (very minimal), some BW or grayscale, as well as color in the areas where the light is. This leads me to not believe their IR Cut Filter feature exists. Ideas? Also, it seems your boss has made up his mind on an inferior system, let him buy it but warn him first. When he sees how horrible the images are you can then say you told him so Seriously ... look for some color Dome cameras with a 4-8mm varifocal lens - very important - 811x504 Pixels. Samsung Techwin and Nuvico have some decent enough at a lower cost, also Ganz, its indoors then just get some of them, otherwise go day night for outdoors where there is little to low light, use SEPERATE IR where it is pitch dark or even better use Motion Lighting. Having not seen the property it is difficult to say, and your budget of total retail $1500 leaves little room for anything of decent quality. The products i mentioned above are more mid range products but those alone will break your budget easily. Going back to my first idea, let the boss buy the product so he doesn't blame you for a $1500 mistake. GeoVision would be great but along with the PC required I doubt it will fit in that budget. Budget 8 Channel stand alone DVRs are also not easy to come by (with LAN) though could check out the Nuvico JV series.
  3. So basically you want to review multiple cameras at one time (playback recorded files) but their software does not support that feature? If so, it would require changing the card for one that has software with that feature, typically playback software is limited to what you get from the manufacturer.

    GV-650 4 port upgrade?

You would need to change the card to one with more ports as GeoVision does not support multiple cards (except the GV2008)

Is it a wireless DVR? What do you want to do wirelessly with it, just connect to it from a wireless connection, or something else?

    GV-600-4?

at $99 most likely it is a pirated card. It retails for around $380. Dealers can get it for less, not that less though, not for a legit card, but if there is a website offering dealer price to end users then they should not be supported as they are destroying the industry. GeoVision cards in general are great, but they have to be legit cards or they wont work properly. As you may already know, GeoVision is a software developer, and that they do well, and generally they dont make the cards themselves. But as to which card you pick well it will depend on the speed you are looking for.

    DVR CARD

To be realistic expect to pay in the $150-250 range retail for a decent 4 channel card, even in the budget range. Someone else mentioned price watch but those sites also include online stores selling pirate cards as well as dealer priced sites (which are bad for the industry). Ok so there is GeoVision, Avermedia, .... NetVision and Nuuo Manufacturer Reps are in this thread but honestly I have never seen their products on a retail online site, though they both look impressive. There are others though honestly the most budget I personally go is the GeoVision GV250.

    VOIP with DVR

Just look for DVRs with 2-way audio. It is VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocols) as long as you are talking over IP so that even includes MSN messenger. Most non budget DVRs will have the feature you are looking for. If they want some kind of telephony product well thats entirely different.

    Software Problem

Sounds like a codec issue. Does the DVR software or manufacturer site mention any codecs or what type of compression is the DVR using? Going through the LAN or the USB will still be an issue if it is the codecs.
  16. Just a quick note, CPCam (AvTech) DVRs are budget units, so don't expect to get a mountain out of a mole hill, if you catch my drift.

    GV-IP Camera

crashed IE and subsequently Explorer.exe for me, I dont see why they have it as a web page since you have to actually install the application anyway, then it just runs in IE .. man Geo needs to do better, or better yet find a better OEM for their IP Camera!

    DVR CARD

GeoVision has the GV-250, it will be a bit more than $50 but worth it.
  21. bring the Geo AVI into Movie Maker then save it as an AVI or WMV .. that should get rid of any private info (I think).

    Resonable Price Dome Camera?

Yep, specs can be misleading with OEM cameras .. and even just down right incorrect in many cases

    Resonable Price Dome Camera?

There are some no name OEM domes but cant say I have used one that I can recommend yet, and for the UK I imagine you would be looking at Sanyo, Sony (actual brand name not just the CCD!), Ganz, for example brand names.
