how much for 16 camera installation
rory replied to texasdyme's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
depends where you live, down here it should be twice as much as in texas as everything costs twice as much Anyway, I normally charge by camera type .. $75 for a bullet camera (varies), $150 for a vandal dome outdoors, $450 for a PTZ, $250 for a day night with Infrared Camera (eg. EX-82, as it takes several trips back and forth), and more (or less) depending on the camera location. etc -
Ahh the Avtech, definately cheap hardware .. BUT .. it doesnt crash, it has LAN, and it is dead cheap. Personally Im not a fan of their network software nor their browser interface .. and not to mention the very low quality that comes from that. As for the local side, quality is fine, its a basic quad recording to a hard drive. Definitely dont go by the web interface, that much we know sucks big time, and I am pretty sure they HAVE to know it. Anyway, if anyone can find a cheap DVR for the same price (not $100 more, the same price or less) with LAN, let us know, and I mean one that is being distributed in the US. That said, I posted a thread before about a 4 channel DVR in the DVR forum, which is much less than the AvTec unit, and I like it better actually .. BUT, it has no LAN. However, for the ghetto jobs, down here most either dont have internet or they have DSL which down here doesnt assign them an IP so they would need to pay for a static IP which wont happen.

Didn't know that, but they do let the Hotels here pretty much do anything they want .. that can be both good and bad .. many businesses and homes down here do have their own generators also, but we still have to use BEC anyway (by law) and yep they charge an arm and a leg. Safety is one of the last things my fellow country men tend to worry about, Im surprised they had you guys come and do a consult. And Orange Hill is considered a "nice" area .. thankfully they didn't put you up in one of the motels "over the hill", but then again you should have been staying at Crystal Palace at the least.

BEC .. oh lawd .. what was that for .. mind the power has been okay lately .. normally they cant keep the power on though Yeah thats the rich side of the island .. ghetto mostly everywhere else .. Well I live on the East side of the island around some big expensive homes too but the west side is better IMO, less traffic, traffic is horrible here.

Plenty US cars, but more Japanese right hand drive vehicles now, lots of diesel (dirty old ones) too. Infact here this city is one big environmental disaster right now from all the bad exhaust and nobody enforcing any laws to prevent it .. every day now im choking behind some nasty old car .. gets annoying .. and I live 15' from the main road and have a fan on the window all the time to blow the fumes back out during morning traffic And oh yeah, here they run the red light on purpose!

Seriously though the cops down here would scare the worst cop up there .. i bump into these plain clothes all the time at the gas station, basically walk out side and some guy that looks like a thug is pointing a machine gun at me .. no badges nothing .. and check this, the cops here are told that when they draw their weapon they have to shoot to kill. .. so basically they do. Park a car like that in an empty car park down here at night, most likely to get robbed or killed before a cop hassles you. Anyway sounds like the cop needs some meds. But other than the couple minor rude outbursts, he sounded polite compared to what I hear the cops say here when they pull over people outside my apartment at 3 in the morning. .

well down here they would have dragged him out of the car with machine guns to his head, search the vehicle, then if no weapons (pepper spray, guns, etc) were found they might have let him go.

I have audio... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASIlM5TtgbM Ok whoops .. ok now you need the portable mic for when you get out and smack the other driver
-
I dont even have a stereo in my jeep and yall talking about cameras in there Scruit, now you need audio like Erkme has

Seems you have been lucky so far, I wouldn't recommend anyone else reading this do that though, especially when an enclosure for those board cameras only cost around $5, however I would suggest a weather resistant bullet camera to begin with anyway (or a mini box camera). Still, looks good.
-
you never put your window down? leaving an electronic board exposed like that is not a good idea, but its your $$
-
if any water/liquid splashes up there it could fry it. Right side window down then it starts to rain .. for example .. only takes a spry to fry.
-
Nice, only issue I see is that the camera is not protected.

I know Fujinon has F:0.95 lenses, as to the retailers we dont allow store links here, but you could check out the banner links above, or someone may PM you.
-
Dont know, but it appears the seller doesnt know too much about Exview. As mentioned there are wider lenses. Personally I would never buy a camera/lens off Ebay though.
-
Cool. .. looks neat. OEM housing though? Easy to get to for regular cleaning? How strong is that siding though, will the camera sway in the wind or is it secured beyond that?
-
2.8mm is wide angle, basically it is a varifocal lens meaning you can manually zoom the lens from 2.8mm to 12mm when you install the lens. 12mm is a closer zoom (narrower view).

Any ideas .. the actual manufacturer .. thanks

Thanks, will check it out.

Please do, as this I must see. Ok lets put it another way, one can try, and they just might, but there is no way to know for certain when using an LCD as you will never "see" the best focus (in other words, Im almost certain it could be better ). Basically, unless you plug the camera into a CRT, you will never know if it is focused properly (see below about the focus meter though). As for the 2.5" part, the objects are too small, you are missing out on alot of edges/detail (pixels) that you cannot see on that monitor. Example would be to look at the images above, there is no way to know if the camera is focused; out of focus/low quality cameras can look very clear at 320x240, but when you blow them up, it's another story. Also back to the original question, as mentioned there are meters you can purchase now specially for focusing. Now, if you are happy and your clients are happy, with the focus you are getting with that 2.5" monitor, then that is all that matters. Im just very picky myself. Also, one should ideally be focusing the camera at their office before they take the camera to the client for installation. Just use a view finder to get the focal views, then all you will need is that 2.5" LCD to mount the camera.

in all fairness to the ebay bullet, the toshiba had clouds somewhat blocking its sun

Maybe look for a WDR Bullet camera. KT&C is supposed to have one of those but it looks pretty large from the image I saw.
