Linux being more secure than Windows is just a myth, trust me. The Windows users that believe that dont know how to setup Windows properly is all. There is another Myth too, its called Mac. That "hacker" btw is from a well known group in the middle east that do this all the time to Linux servers, even more specifically sites with Php applications. I can promise you, nobody can get into my Windows PC, either. As to government, dont know what government that is (most I know of run Windows), but whichever one it is, they are more than likely just trying to save some money. Cough .. Dell?

LOL .. thats what server the hacked website is using, Apache Open Source and Linux Open Source OS (Debian) .. not that secure obviously .. should be using a Windows server like my Sites do. When one gives out the source code obviously others will have that code also ... LOL

Crappy server and code probably .. I wouldnt worry too much about it, besides if you check your site every so often nothing a simple upload wont fix. Like I said, anyone can do what they did, and more, BUT we dont, cause its wrong, and it is illegal. They dont care about law though. You are hosted with Microsoft? Anyway, they seem to be using an Open Source Server and OS, they get hacked alot. The following is what the hacked website is using: http://www.debian.org/ http://httpd.apache.org/

Are you sure its the same compression, as already mentioned, and also 720x480 will be much larger files than 640x480 so make sure you are using the same Video Resolution. I would check the hard drives are still being used though. Just incase, remove them from the list of storage devices, reformat each one (if you are allowed), repair the DB, reboot, add them back in to the storage list, repair the DB, then try again.

lame and very basic .. they are located in a country which doesnt follow laws and order and hence they do things that any lamer can do .. they think they are cool but they are really jokers. Something to do with this site: www.almobd3en.net

Dont be puzzled, please test it out for us. I have had the same experience with cat5 and high voltage as cctv_down_under in that it has experienced higher levels of interference.

if you mean the CFB6021EX, thats the same one. That website doesnt seem to know too much about cameras either, as they claim: "The picture clarity is above DVD quality", which is not even close. "The Sony ExViewTM chipset produces an astounding 600 lines of resolution", Whereas Cameras with Exview Chips come in various Resolutions. "With an industry leading low 0.0003 Lux, you’ll have clear pictures even under the darkest conditions", totally incorrect, first off not even Exview chips give you that kind of lux sensitivity, secondly IF this is the same camera, it is half the low light sensitivity as other BW Exview cameras. Just another sales pitch on that site as far as I am concerned. I am really getting tired of sales people these days.

is it me, or is that house crooked? Car hits the mailbox, cameras gone, kids drive by and whack the mailbox with bat, cameras gone .. might want to consider that also. Sounds like a lot of work, and dont know if he can run conduit under that sidewalk. Just get a couple bullet cameras for now and try them out physically in your hand or even mount them on the building, 1 color and 1 BW, they are cheap.

IP Cameras at a Glance

Coax, well Cable TV has the rights to that here (they are the local Cable TV Monopoly), gotta pay them big to lease that .. . . and then the nodes go down alot due to power outages, and their UPS's never seem to work One of my biggest issues with the browser based (only) apps is the incompatibilities and security issues surrounding browsers and their plugins. And if it is ActiveX, you need to download something, so might as be a real software app. I can see where javascript image push is great for basic remote viewing but to do any kind of real work you should use an actual software application. -

Welcome to the forum .. Scorpion .. down here you can call the cops and they wont come half the time .. best way to get them here is to tell them someone got drugs or guns, and they will be right over promptly. My alarm has triggered a few times in the past couple years .. mostly from burglars .. but then I dont have it tied into a CMS .. I can call the police just as quick as they can ..

Hi 501! This sounds intresting. Keep me informed Rory, I shall look if I can dind the PCI E card I got as well and have a test! JD Well i dont think I can afford to test it, so it will probably just stay as a theory. Question remains though, if you had the choice, would you sell both systems, or just one of them, such as the 2008x2 ? Im thinking with the 1480 at least you can do H.264 if needed to get a lot longer recording, however the cost of hard drives are cheap now.

Hi, this thread explains what needs to be done. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287 The IP in the DVR must be in the same range as the router's IP. You will need to port forward to the DVR's IP and port, for outside access. Sounds like that DVR is an AVTech DVR. Rory

use it, tell them come see me. That gang means nothing down here ..

combine direct dvr feed w/ multiple net software one monitor
rory replied to gexamb's topic in Digital Video Recorders
if would normally say if it has a web browser application, so it probably doesnt, but you can try the IP in Internet Explorer and see if anything comes up. If you can get a screen shot of the app or even a photo of the DVR then we might be able to tell which DVR it is, then go from there. Rory -
It looks like every other Chinese PTZ Gonna be hard to locate.

Geovision Version 6.05 and Security Risk under Windows XP
rory replied to BladeZero's topic in Geovision
Hi. actually there is really no need to do any of the MS updates for the DVR, other than SP2 on XP. There are many other things however that need to be done to lock down the PC. Personally I will use XP until its gone completely, when the time arises when all that is left is Vista, I think many of the XP DVR users will be switching to something else, like Linux. Vista just has way too many other issues. -
Only version that will (is supposed to) work is 8.12. Not just the drivers, the entire app has to be redeveloped for Vista. You could try 6.05 in compatibility mode but I doubt it will work. Basically programs that have data in the program path will give errors, which is why most apps had to be redeveloped with their data in the user folder paths.

Looks like your company has some serious money to spend Looks good

Thought you were talking Internet .. oh well .. anyway, bottom line is the NVR and DVR Computer hardware should be the same, the NVR should be using hardware at least as good as a DVR uses. Besides, Woody is talking about a networked PC system that most clients would never be able to maintain, most just want plug and play, use an IR Remote to view live video, and deal with evidence sharing if the need ever arises. And oh yeah, they dont want to pay for any of it.
