You must goto the location at night to adjust the cameras, when installing a day/night application. Showing us the video wont help, you need to physically go there, simulate the dark, then adjust the offending camera.

I take it that Free shipping doesn't include the Bahamas though

rory replied to acableconnection's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There cant possibly be a preference, as there is not 1 single DVR for every application. -

Bosch to Acquire Extreme CCTV for $92M
rory replied to griffonsystems's topic in General Digital Discussion
Oh well. Extreme is finish now. -
Nope, thats pretty much it.

LCD Service monitors aren't for properly focusing a camera though, you would need something at least similar to a 9" CRT.

I thought Bosch Cameras had auto focus features? The Bilinx tool?

Well I just tested the KPC-EXH190SWX 1/3" Sony ExView CCD 600 TV Lines Weatherproof Bullet, compared it side by side with the Eclipse Exview bullet camera, and it doesn't come close ad far as low light goes. They must have forgotten to add the Exview chip!!! Now it is possible that the lens on the Eclipse bullet camera is a lower F stop, so just incase, I will switch the lenses and test again. Will post some image comparisons as soon as I get the recorded video from the old DSR-1000e I have here. Rory

IP Camera standard
rory replied to wallacewong's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi, this may be what you are looking for? http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10569 -
Its a great little DVR by the way, I just tested it briefly yesterday. If you want the ultimate budget DVR, and dont need LAN, it seems to work great, and it is really small. Also has USB backup and a CD for PC playback of the video, have not tested that yet. If they want 8 cameras and are broke, heck sell them 2 of them and just put one on top of the other, they are that tiny! Anyway, wanted to see if the manufacturer might have the option of an IR Remote for them, as it seems to have the IR LED. Live video quality on the Eclipse VGA converter to an LCD, is even better on this one than the Avtech unit (have both hooked up, just swapped them around to test). Rory

storage for chrysler, outdoors at night, very little light
rory replied to DigitalMayhem's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
LOL .. welcome to the forum .. im sure someone will reply tomorrow .. weekends are normally slow .. im ill and also just bumped my head, so cant really answer myself that well but here goes .. Geo will be okay, there are others. Basically you can get the card and an IR remote, set up a user account as a User and limit them to full screen only, so it auto logs into that account. They can use the IR Remote to just switch the multiviews, so only the admin needs to login and come out of full screen to play back video and do other admin stuff .. keeps the user from being able to do a whole lot, and all they ever see is the live video. I cant speak for the budget as we can only discuss Retail pricing, and that can vary considerably from one retailer to the next. Actually we are asked to not discuss pricing wherever possible and cannot directly recommend any particular online stores - many other members here are actually distributors and so we dont want any conflicts, but they can PM you direct if required. Stay clear of Ebay though, whatever you do. Check out the advertiser banners at the top of this site for other options and legit cards. There is a thread posted in the camera section that has links on Day Night cameras. Basically the best is a True Day Night camera, which has an IR Cut Filter. These can vary from a simple bullet camera, to a professional box camera, to something like the Extreme CCTV long range IR cameras .. the bullet cameras are going to be the most common and as they have built in IR they will be less expensive. The box and the Extreme cameras would be the best but will cost. I dont know if your budget will even cover the True Day night bullets though, you may only be able to afford what we call the Color IR bullet cameras. They also vary considerably. The better ones of that type would be the more expensive ones also, they will be much cheaper than the True Day Night bullets though. Difference is without the IR Cut Filter the colors during the day can appear washed out, how much will depend on the actual camera itself. All of these bullet type cameras are OEM cameras so once again they will vary in quality from one to the next, and in many cases you will never know who the actual manufacturer is. Some brand names, some will be rebadged, some will be the actual Asian manufacturer, but the more well known ones would be KT&C, Nuvico, Arm, Eclipse - forgive me if I left one or two out guys. Anyway those links in that thread will explain alot more. The cost of the DVR card will depend on the video frame rate you will like. If its 8 cameras you may want to look at something like the GV-650-8, 60fps. Decent enough for most applications, and yet not the ultimate budget card. The 120fps card will bring the price right up, and the real time live video cards will be even more. Dont forget the distributed power supply for the cameras (Altronix is a good brand), and also a UPS with Voltage Regulation for everything (APC or Trip lite). Power everything at the DVR location as well. Keep video cable at least 1 foot from any high voltage such as lights, etc. Get some RG59 Siamese Cable if you can terminate it properly, or can learn to do so, otherwise you maybe stuck with the ready made all in one cables which is typically much thinner and RCA, but these can encounter interference issues. There is also the option of cat5 cable and baluns, but I would learn to do the BNC connection first IMO before going that route, unless cat5 was to be required for the application (such as multi building app or utilizing existing wiring). Thats all for now .. I feel like I just had a Scorpion moment (inside joke with another member) Rory -
Yes try a different PCI slot. Also, Join, do you know if Media Center might have issues with the cards or not? I know it is very similar if not just about the same, but it did seem to be slightly different when I did some work on one before, had additional services and may also have some others disabled or missing. Maybe hardware detection is disabled, perhaps do a manual scan for new hardware just in case.
-
Actually was looking for any XP Embedded devices, so I can use the same exact language I use now. For Mobile I would need to purchase (and learn) a whole different programming language tool.
-
Stability, well that depends on the hardware and drivers for one, which once it is a legit Geo Card and you use the suggested components and legit Geo Drivers and software, there will be no issues. The software itself is pretty much Bug Free, the newer version requires alot more memory than the older versions, but its still solid and once again once the components are up to spec, it will run great. I've set them up on various machines and works great, a couple of them running for 3 years now. Also check out this thread http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=8059 Also, if it I could not create a stable system from their cards and software, I would not be writing Remote Video Software and other apps specifically for GeoVision systems.

Newbie Question on Remote access (WaverReader)
rory replied to JimWint's topic in General Digital Discussion
Its 1024 for the GE DVMRe, StoreSafe, DSR-1000 and DSR-2000. Not sure if it has changed for the PRO or II units as I have never used them. Make sure the local IP is set in the DVR as static, along with the Subnet and gateway the same as the Router. Once you port forward 1024-1024, TCP, and to that IP, it should work. Best way to initially test is to Telnet to it from the Command Prompt. TELNET IP 1024 Note that 1024 will only work in WaveReader, you will encounter issues if you try it in a Web Browser, as then you will need to forward port 80 for HTTP (or change that accordingly). Rory -
Eclipse CCTV also sells it, but Im looking for the actual manufacturer.
-
You could just insert the ends into the socket to read it .. dont touch the metal while its in there ofcourse. Otherwise, could get some Voltage Regulators, some of them come with an LCD display which tells you the exact voltage also. You can connect them to the PC as well and then record the levels over time. I've used the APC units for this exact purpose, was the UPS with built in AVR, has the USB cable and software for the PC.

Newbie Question on Remote access (WaverReader)
rory replied to JimWint's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi, some info here: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287 You basically want to forward port 1024 for WaveReader. Rory -
Correct, there really is not one single Manufacturer for every single application.
