Ok, GV600-4 Just tested it in my PC, which has a Via Chipset where the GV250 and an Iview card worked fine before, but the Gv600 will not work, drivers would not even install. Installed same card in an HP Desktop and a Dell Desktop, both had Intel Chipsets, Both refurbished from Tiger Direct, both 2.8 P4s, and both worked without problems. Tested with Geo 7.1 and 8.01. 7.1 was much faster overall and also seemed like the quality was a little better.

We cant use prices for the bases of anything on the forum, as the prices vary from one retailer to the next, and we cant mention dealer pricing at all. For clarification, retail pricing is typically double the dealers cost.

No, its pitch dark, there was a car behind that one. The REG cameras are specifically for pitch dark situations and have built in IR. As you can see, they also work during the day. They are basically plug and play cameras.
-
The ones in the images above, all from a REG camera, the SD Plates are rentals and are White Plates, and typically not that clean. The others are Blue plates with Yellow Text.
-
Didnt notice a huge issue when working on this one, but im sure if they are too dirty then you wont get the plate .. if its too dirty to see it with your own eyes then the camera wont see it either.

Can anyone help with an audio issue on my GV 800 card?
rory replied to MJ Visuals's topic in Geovision
Still need the Geo Audio, though if a problem with the PC audio, could also effect the Geo's audio recording/playback, actually could effect the entire system, or at least the audio output. You could also try setting the sound scheme to NONE, meaning no XP sounds. I do that for all DVRs I setup. Sound related problems. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=9354 -
Check the box that says "Register Motion" and see if that helps. Worst case scenario, let me logon and check it out for you. Rory

rory replied to MJ Visuals's topic in Geovision
Maybe a driver issue also, can you get a cheap $5 sound card and try that? I never depend on the onboard audio anymore, especially since most audip chipsets are being made for Vista now, on XP it can be nothing but trouble. -
disable the slow shutter or night sense or whatever they call the feature .. doesnt matter if it is day or night it will still be there if it is enabled.

well unfortunately thats the max items for a poll, sorry, so Its been reset, left the most common bigger brand names.
-
Maybe just based on the quality of the cameras in general, the video quality, and ofcourse low failure rates. I think tech support will vary too much from one country to the next - non existent for us here for any brand, short of relying on email and they will all fall behind in that

Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....
rory replied to megavolt512's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yeah was looking at the jv series, as its pretty cheap for an 8 channel with LAN, but then the duty to bring it here, I figured I could build a PC based for a lot less in the end ... customs charges 35% duty on video equipment, but its duty free for PCs. -

So the staff are Korean too? I realize some of their product is from Korea. I never call tech support from any company, if she dont work, she get chucked away then I move on -
I can add/delete, but would then be best to start a new poll, as once one has voted once, they cant vote again for the other items. I would need to delete then recreate the poll to reset the votes as those are the only options I have. I would prefer the thread starter to do that though as extra work for me. We had a thread on this before BTW. Also this should be CCTV cameras only, perhaps could start a new Poll in the IP section for IP cameras? A few are missing or should be redefined: ExtremeCCTV Baxall Sanyo Samsung (Techwin) Samsung (GVI) Ikegami JVC Ganz KT&C Eclipse COP Never heard of LG or Hitachi Cameras so didnt list them above.

Trunk Slammer?
-
Don't know if I would call it more stable, it's still XP, same as if you were to strip down XP Pro. Stability would still depend on the DVR Software and Drivers. Would be considered more secure if it doesn't allow writing to it. Embedded XP normally costs alot more than your typical XP Home/Pro CD also.
-
What is the question for the poll?
-
Good job I didnt try and build that 64bit DVR after all Was looking at doing 8GB of memory .. oh well .. glad you got it sorted out
-
Dont know, but what was the error? Was it the drivers? Seems to me that the software side should not have a problem, still XP.

general reccommendation for balun MFG
rory replied to jeromephone's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Most of them look the same on the outside. -
Make sure the camera is not mounted up high, All in one IR cameras are best placed as low as possible to get the most out of the IR. Expect perhaps 50' of IR even with a reflective surface for the IR, even if the camera tells you otherwise; if you get more IR then cool. Another reason for the narrow IR beam is that most come with 30 degree beams. You would need external IR with wider beams to get a better selection, and that can cost $$. So basically typically are stuck with the 30 degrees. Could try to point some of the IRs outwards also.
