Ok, but what I was saying that if it is 950-1100nm then maybe the camera phone wont pick it up, not many cameras do, especially the cheaper ones such as those found in a cell phone. Extreme has the 950nm line of IR, not cheap though.
-
Lost me, are you talking about Infrared for Cameras? If the IR is 850nm or lower than it is visible to the human eye, if it is 950-1100nm then it is invisible plus most cameras wont recognize it.
-
yeah, but who would know what they are? Could be anything .. yard light or something.

nah .. paranoid? I have iron bars on my doors and windows, and razor wire . .. I dont walk outside the door without my cutlass ..

What router works better other than D-Link or Linksys?
rory replied to sonorabill's topic in Computers/Networking
One thing I should note though, I never use port 80 for anything. -
use 950-1100nm and more than likely the camera phone will not see it .. im surprised it sees IR at all ..

going there right now ..

What router works better other than D-Link or Linksys?
rory replied to sonorabill's topic in Computers/Networking
One thing we didnt look at, it could have just been a bad router. I use those routers all the time without any problems. Mine is a little older so the firmware is not the same, but just used a couple new ones the other day which worked fine. No idea what firmware they had though. -
Here, you just need any old business license.

going by the DNS info in the router, I would still put it down to your ISP. Anyway once it works.

I really need some help on this

which NVidia card is it? Make sure the correct drivers are installed, and also reset the settings in the NVidia control panel back to defaults. I found an NVidia card in the past which did not work with GeoVision, ended up using the onboard video. Typically a Direct Draw issue. Could be something else though, when building it for a client its easier to just change the video card then try to figure out why. -
Avermedia Versus Geovision, my personal review.....

I asked their support and they told me otherwise. I will look into it again, thanks. -
All I ever use is that Linksys model, never have a problem.
-
Might be .. I never use port 80 so that could be conflicting .. normally I use 81 or 82. Maybe change 80 to 81 in the DVR and the router, then try it. You would then need to add :81 after the .com

as far as DDNS the hostname should just be something like myname.gotdns.com it could take some time for it to work after initial setup.
-
Dont change the static IPs etc, all that is good now. The DDNS thing is totally separate. I didn't try to login, give me a sec. Yes it works can see the video. ... Ok been a while for me and AvTech, but yes it uses Java now (use to be ActiveX) so it will just work .. FireFox also. You could also click the button to download the AP then install that and use that instead of the browser. Rory
-
Enable DDNS and enter your DDNS account info back in if it was removed, otherwise if that is already setup, then go ahead and telnet to that and the port number, or just enter it in the browser address and see if it works.
-
Yes it is working now. Im a mod so I was able to test your IP and it brings up the browser page also. So now just need to get the DDNS part working.
-
1.1 should be the routers IP, which is the Gateway for the DVR, you should change it to what I mentioned above or port forwarding will never work.
-
yes the DVR Static IP must be the Ip you are port forwarding to so .. DVR SETTINGS: IP = 192.168.1.10 SubNet = 255.255.255.0 Gateway = 192.168.1.1 (this is the Router's IP) Port = 80 SAVE SETTINGS/APPLY/OK ROUTER SETTINGS: IP = 192.168.1.1 Subnet = 255.255.255.0 Applications & Gaming: Application = DVR Start = 80 End = 80 Protocol = TCP IP Address = 192.168.1.10 Enabled = Checked DMZ can be left disabled SAVE SETTINGS Telnet to it using the IP not the DDNS name Once you know it works with the IP then can worry about the DDNS. TELNET IP 80
-
everything else seems okay, MTU should stay default but thats not the problem. In your DVR, make it a static IP or the local IP will be .100+ since the router is set to DHCP. Setup all the relevant static info in the DVR based on the router's local info, subnet and gateway.

I doubt either of those will do the job, though I do not know the lighting level at the location. Minimum Illumination on the color camera using DSS is below that of the lowest lux BW Chip, the Sony Exview - so I would ignore all specs regarding lux levels on those cameras. Also, DSS is pretty useless IMO as it slows down the video to see in lower light, and when using a DVR that will mean the video will be even slower. Its still a neat idea, but personally I am not fond of it. Both use a much lower power consumption than any high quality camera I have seen so far, especially the day night model, those are typically over 350ma easy. Basically specs from most manufacturers are typically incorrect and just sales pitches, even moreso from OEM products. Only way to tell is to buy one and test it out unfortunately, unless someone else has used it and is prepared to let you see their system, under the same or similar lighting conditions. Be sure to also check out the threads in this post for more information and other views. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6122 BTW, the customer may want alot of things they will never be able to get.

Yep, that has happened before, dont worry, you are not alone.
-
BW typically works best in low lit bars and nightclubs, though if you only have the choice of the 2 mentioned then it would be number 2. Color wont work at all in a low lit environment like that, in most cases. Even so the day night's BW mode may still not be low enough, and a Day Night camera is not as sensitive in low light as a BW only camera is. See if you can post the Brand Name, and Minimum Lux Levels so we can take a look at that also.

Fujinon. I think they are from Japan.
