  1. Thats cool .. for Vista Im only getting that its Vista right now. Wasnt able to find any info on Vista versions just yet. It gets all the versions for XP though, and some of the 9X ones. For Vista all I have is this: 2.6.0.6000. I may try some more for Vista. Actually it wont actually say the version even with XP, just the edition, but behind the scenes the version is what I use to get the editions from, along with some other code. Thanks Rory

Two Mitar cameras and sample images

Both cameras have the same exact specs according to the above, except the lens type, and the IR (same res). Not all cameras are made alike. Just because 1 camera at price $xx works great doesnt mean another at the same price will - regardless of the specs. Anyway, Color /IR cameras normally would look shabby in the day, as they dont have an IR Cut filter, which a fixed color camera and a True Day/Night does. Forget what they say, if its cheap, open it and focus it. Fixed lens so you may need a tiny straight scew driver to loosen it first before adjusting. Watch any power cables or boards in there, cheap cameras will fry easy. Should be straight forward though, loosen front, loosen screw on lens mount, adjust till focused best as it can be. Will need to plug it into a 9" CCTV Monitor, or at least something like a 13" TV, to focus it properly though. Though that might just be the best they are. Also, unless using RG59 also it will be hard to tell for certain. The USB converter might also be limited to only 352x240 or 320x240. Rory
  3. making me jealous with those pothole free large roads .. Now all you need is a portable mic like the cops have ..
  4. Which model of DVMRe is this?
  5. Are you viewing it on a CCTV Monitor, or on a PC (network)?
  6. just looked at the Mobileview PDF, it claims: The MobileView system can support up to eight NTSC/PAL cameras-color, monochrome, or both. The stored or captured images have a resolution of up to 720 x 243 pixels. Images are displayed at 720 x 486 pixels. From the internet it seems there is confusion among manufacturers and others what that 720x240 is, most point towards HALF-D1 though, especially since 720 doest not calculate to any lower CIF values. Cant say if this is the same for all their DVRs though.
  7. I cant say for certain. But the specs for the Video is: Horizontal Resolution: 720 pixels Vertical Resolution: 484 active lines Now, they have 3 settings for record and these adjust the compression, HIGH, MED, LOW. Dont think these have anything to do with the resolution, and as far as I know, from viewing recorded video on, well many many occasions, it definitely looks like it is recording in 720x480, or at least not 320x240; on a large monitor in full view 1 camera, great quality. Only way to know for certain, is to set the quality to HIGH, the use the monitor out to a Video capture card, and check the video resolution like that. However that still depends on what setting you set the video to, so not sure if that will work. I can email a contact at GE to find out if it is .. cough .. that important .. let me know. I do have a DSR-1000 right here, so I could plug it in etc, though I have no capture card right now, or at least not installed in my PC (lot of work). Rory
  8. QVGA = 320x240 CIF = 352 x 240 VGA = 640x480 2CIF = 704 x 240 D1 = 720x480 Thing is, the StoreSafe and DVRMe's I have in the field, still use Wavelet, they are not the PRO or II versions though. They record in at least VGA or D1 (not 100% sure)
  9. Actually tons of people are still buying XP, though most name brand PCs come with the scorn of satan "Vista" loaded on it.

    max vid clip - 5min

Yes, remove that setting if you are doing round the clock and want the max clip times.
  11. The way MS is going with Vista, I can foresee the PC DVR moving more into another OS, as Windows gets slower and slower. Also seems the standalones are being used much more now for the budget applications, over PC based.
  12. Sounds like Rafal is here to help, which is good. I cant say I have ever seen a Geo Rep come on here yet.

    Extremes EX82

200+ .. sounds cool ..same price as the previous ones too?
  14. Cool, was wondering about this unit, how is the VGA out quality compared to the Composite quality, and how would you compare it to watching a DVD on the PC .. quality wise? Just curious how it is compared to others Ive seen. Good specs for the price, ive demoed the remote video and was good quality. Thanks Rory
  15. I hope he got it to work properly by now, that was a year ago.

    Extremes EX82

The EX82 will still blow the others away in a Day Night app with Pitch Dark at night .. hence the use of the IR up to 100+'. Unless you are going to use some decent IR such as the UF100 or even the UF500, that sucker will light the place right up with any Night camera! Then you get the wide dynamic feature of the Pano. Without IR though, going by the specs, the Pano is not that low light, in fact I would take the GE 2000EX Exview cam over the Pano for a low light app. To get the somewhat equivalent with a box camera you will need the box camera, lens, housing, and at least a UF100 IR Illuminator, then the box camera is only a single camera which switches to a night mode using filters (or god forbid digital), which is not as good as having 2 separate cameras; a Color for day and a BW for night. Unfortunately there are no Day Night switching all in one single cameras (exview or otherwise) that can match the low light sensitivity of a BW camera; even a cheap BW camera. I would have to agree though that if there is minimal light at night you should be able to get away with a Day Night camera only, but if it is pitch dark or very dark at night, this camera rocks. This would be a waste of money though if you have some light in the area at night, as really it is designed with Pitch Dark in mind.

    IcrealTime vs Nuvico DVR3

It may help when the user doesnt have any AVR in the line, if the DVR's power supply had some kind of fuse or what not .. not sure, but yep still possible. Ive always used AVRs though so never had a problem, except the one time I didnt use an AVR

    GE Fixed Dome camera questions

Hi, actually last time I bought them the DR-1500 and DR-1800 were only like a $20 difference. The DR-2000 is yes a huge difference in price though.
  20. Just wondering if anyone has ever used this or similar, its an ATI 1550 chip and is low priced. For home or DVR. Also, wondering about the heat sink instead of a fan, as far as heat goes. http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=RX1550-TD256EH&class=vga Thanks, Rory
  21. Hi, im searching for some filters for my case and a couple others, 120mm and 80mm fans are installed, but i need a filter for them as in their case there are tons of dust in the rooms .. anyway, seen plenty of filters around the web, but im looking for something where they can be removed and cleaned without using a screw driver, in other words i need a holder for them which will screw onto the case, they then just slide in and out when needed. Any ideas? I cant find any on New Egg or other sites ... thanks rory

    Removeable Case Fan Filters?

Sought of, same like i have now kind of, I have the aluminum mesh ones though, which lets more air through than those (from what I have read). Air is of the importance in these cases, hence the 2x 80mm fans and the 120mm rear fan. Thing is that the cases front fan section comes with holes that are larger than the regular fan screws, so that wont work if they dont provide those screws, which the ones I got, dont. Im using a standard Antec case so it must be the norm. Anyway, I can just get a local plastic company to make me up something which I can slide the filter in and out of, when cleaning is needed. I can just glue that holder onto the case front. For now I used 2 mini tie straps. Thanks Rory

    GE Fixed Dome camera questions

If you place it directly outdoors, not under an eave or cover, then make sure caulk it up good, around the base for example, otherwise you may be going back to it alot. PS. DM-1500 is the indoor dome, color only. The DR-1500 is color only also, no exview in that. They have the DR-1800 for the Color/Mono version, and the DR-2000 for the Exview. Personally I never did like the DM-1500, for a couple dollars more you could get the DR-1500 which is a much better picture IMO.

    Extremes EX82

Yep, had them hooked up on a GE DVR for 5 years .. One thing is to get some stainless steel screws. Also the nuts etc on the camera itself, are not stainless steel, so use some kind of lubricant to keep them from rusting. Also, dont mount them any higher than 8-10 feet (max) as the higher you go the less Infrared Distance you will get; higher you can raise the camera's front up towards the sky, the better the infrared will be. And must have something to reflect the Infrared off, such as a wall or bush at say 60-75' away. If there is too much glare from the IR reflection, you can always adjust the amount of IR.
