Using an LCD Monitor for the DSP output would not be doing the DSP output justice. A High quality (Brand name typically) CCTV CRT Monitor will be better quality than a TV, though the TV would work also.

Anyone have luck with Pelco IP110

Quick question, do either have real software, not browser based, included with them? -
So was the video coming in over the network or connected to the PC some other way? Also, 4 PCs wouldn't be that expensive, seeing as they have 128 cameras, they could surely afford 4 pcs? Anyway, 1 monitor test .. 5+ year old slow PC. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/tmp/64wayEGWithProcess.jpg (shows performance, CPU usage approx 79% and memory size at 617K, this is on a 2.0Ghz AMD w/ 512DDR Ram, most of the memory load is actually on the creation of 64 Video Windows along with other apps im running and the developing of it over several hours)

VHS tapes could be played back on other recorders .. they had different multiplexers which was the issue.

I have a few, nothing major, not related to CCTV.

Stable? Hard to tell, Ive had windows XP DVRs running now for a couple years without a single issue .. ive seen some DVRs crash left and right .. PC and RTOS embedded .. so it really depends on the product and how the software is setup.

yeah did one, but just plugged the cat5 cable in and it was good to go

Yep, just to confirm, 4 CIF is VGA, which is 640x480 NTSC.
-
What he said, and 4 CIF is not megapixel. If you are viewing an analog camera on an LCD Monitor, such as from a stand alone DVR, or a Composite to VGA converter, then the quality will be much lower than it coming from a PC Card. Perhaps that is what you meant?

You may loose the time overlay, as their player may be doing that, but you could try ffmpeg which may convert it for you. Its command based but converts many types of files including flash, etc. http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/ Rory

B/W Cameras are Always best for night clubs and bars.

Yes, it would be more expensive in the long run, though it is just an option in case you were to get the Gv800 and later on want the DSP. If you know upfront you want the DSP etc, then its worth while getting it to begin with.

Though I have used nVidia video cards in the past, for all my Geo systems I use ATI typically, never had any issues like that .. yet.
-
Probably shot then .. make sure the power connector is getting proper contact on the board also .. anyway they are sending a new one so ..

If it got knocked around in shipping, the hard drive could have got damaged. Maybe just try changing the hard drive?

when recording in 640x480 or higher, it is not any really huge difference, in fact I prefer the 800's quality over the combo cards. However, if you want real time LIVE video then you will need the combo card; It also has the composite output but then you can always get one of those by using a quad or mux and loop out card. The combo cards have the composite output, called DSP output in this case. There use to be an add on DSP card for the other models but it is not as easy to find these days. You can optionally, as mentioned, use a Geo Loop out card then use a quad or mux from there.

cheapest one i can find at the local store.

install an alarm with some motion detectors (sure they must have this already) and use a Siren with a Voice Driver, record what you want it to say.
