    Mace DVR-0404HP

Yeah for low end DVRs i think its the Avtech and then this one .. the Avtech being the rock bottom unit for the ultra budget .. this for just a little bit more.

    Covert Camera Install

Dont know, but be prepared as it is their budget DVR, so it wont have as many features as the others. More features means more code which means more time and money .. hence the more expensive units If you get a chance can you post some screenshots .. thanks Looks like a decent unit for the price.

Geovision Webcam Connect to Firefox, How To ?

You need to set the webcam up to save images for java ... also same setting for FTP. So yes it works in FireFox using Java. If your PC has a problem with Java, which is also possible, then it wont work.
  6. Hi, the GeoLan file just contains settings for using EzViewlog, it will not actually do anything to the video file itself.
  7. looks like it was a video tape .. and someone took a photo of it, cut a piece of the picture out and blew it up ..
  8. Yall seen the video before they edited it? Whaz up, why am i out of the loop?

Has anyone used CNB BE3815NVR camera?

It will work great, once the camera and IR are good. See example below using a Sanyo Day Night and a UF500 IR Bulb. 850nm will go further than 950. The greater the filter the less IR Output, also less IR glow; 950nm is not visible to the human eye, while 850nm is.
  10. 720x480 ..? Do it all the time.
  11. am I out of the loop here, what is this thread all about?

    Power Supplies

No, a mini PC DVR ... Mini ITX geo has one but its expensive: Plus id rather it in black. would use riser cards for the DVR card .. etc .. researched it but just cant do it from here.

    Power Supplies

Well if I was in the US, and into selling DVRs, I would contract a manufacturer to build me a custom mini case to put the Geo card in, actually you can buy some ready made but they look shabby .. then yes use 180/200watt PSUs, using on board video, the small mobos and embedded XP, (limited HDD size, easily do 1x750Gb though) minor customizing of the Geo software and run it in a non explorer shell .. (already done), I would stick my name on it and start selling it ... but I cant do that down here Anyway, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6, Micro ATX Asus Mobo, 2GB DDR2, 1x 500GB HDD, PCI-e 256 X1300 Video Card, Geo Gv1120 DVR Card (Dsub), CDRW, 350watts is fine.

    Burned balun

looks like the enforcer ones also .. except in white. same connections (push in). Dont know where they calculate that 1300' from .. they must mean inches. But perhaps like cameras, they are not all made alike.

    Burned balun

will have to try a couple of them, the enforcer ones and another brand I used, lost video quality after 150'. I would also like to see some snapshots of cameras successfully run on passive baluns over 500', if anyone has any? Thanks.
  16. Not sure when it took place, it was probably during 2005 sometime. See this post here actually, that was when it was. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=18110#18109 And yes, they had the best line of Bullets "back then".
  17. No idea, but any bullet camera that has been up for 3 years .. Id bow at it, take a couple deep breaths, and look for a new camera .. Not sure if they would warranty it now since it has already been exposed for a couple years to extreme temps among other things. The boards inside bullet cameras are typically very sensitive, especially in the smaller units, so a brownout could easily knock them out. Got a few of their older BW IR bullets still out there working, they replaced that model with a lesser product though. Anyway, when they go I just chuck them and get a new one. Ofcourse these have all been on AVRs.
  18. Its funny how their specs still say it is 0.03 lux, while it is not even close. http://www.specotech.com/cart/products/productDetails.asp?prodID=568
  19. had to take link out due to retail store ... but I think everyone knows that camera by now .. Yes they use to be good, I used it when it was actually an Exview bullet, was great, then they suddenly switched and it was no longer Exview. Speco replied to my email saying they had decided to change it to non Exview, simple as that. Stopped buying it after that, due to the cost it was not worth it when I had a $50 bullet outperforming it even at night. No, they make no cameras, they are an OEM company meaning they buy from manufacturers in Asia who sell the units to their specs. They use to have a really good selection of Bullets, but others have long since taken over that area; now a company with a good selection of bullet cameras, is a dime a dozen. This is just a personal experience so take it as you will. Rory
  20. Could also be a bad power board, only way to tell is to take it down and test it by itself on its own Monitor and power supply, if it still looks bad, send it back (or chuck it) and get a new one.

    Geovision 1480 audio problem

Geo Mpeg4 is their best quality, but less compression. Their H.264 will be the most compression, while Mpeg4 ASP is between their Mpeg4 and H.264. With the low cost of hard drives today, I dont personally feel extreme compression is so much of an issue anymore,
  22. For something decent, it will be a somewhat ridiculous amount of money (eg. EX82), but if you want to do it on the cheap, then you can, but remember you get what you pay for.

    Power Supplies

Because Im running systems in the field with 350 watt PSUs. Also, if you use the Calculators you will see the basic configurations only need approx 200watts. Basically use the calculators and knock it up a notch, and you will be safe. Entry level today is 350 watts. Could a 180 or 200 watt push a DVR, sure, Geo is doing it (onboard video, etc), but I dont have time nor $$ for hardware R&D. Ive used Antec and Coolmax with good results.

    Power Supplies

If its PC based DVRs, once its just a standard 1 card system (along with the PCI Vid Card), I use 350-400watt PSUs, as that is more than enough power. Rackmount system though where im adding like 4+ Hard Drives, I used 500watt PSUs, though thats mainly just so it is upgradable and wont fail when additional cards and other hardware is added.
