if all are picking up motion thats just under 5fps each, so yes will look somewhat choppy, timelapse that is. What are the PC specs, and the Geo version, as much info as possible, include motherboard, video, CPU, everything please. Also, be sure that the remaining 9 cameras are disabled so that they are not calculated in the recording frames. Rory

Yes, they are actually very reliable, the software is stable, and it is loaded with features. Like with any DVR though, there are requirements that need to be met for them to work as they should. If you have any questions regarding that please let us know.

Is this a PC system? If so, which cards do they use? thanks

How does this system look? Can you sell me a cheaper one?

It could be before the C2Ds came down in price, and also, it along with a P4 would still work for a budget DVR. Now, this thread is really not supposed to have any comments in it though, see the OP.

Ahhh ... thanks ... thats one of those hidden settings .. Will test it out later but yes just opened V2 and that is there. Thanks Rory

just wanted to break in and say these are GREAT
-
yes, basiucally there is no setting in CenterV2 either on the DVR setup side or the client side, to change it to any resolution, all they have is the quality such as best - just for a note, Geo has 3 types of 320x240, from low quality to best quality, hence this setting in CenterV2.
-
You're lucky if you get 1 year warranty down here, on any product. Heck I got a limited 9 month warranty on a brand new $31,000 jeep ($22K in the US). There are just so many other factors involved though.
-
Are we talking about Center V2 or Control Center V2? JD Center V2, Control Center isnt included with the Geo Card.
-
Just tested again, DVR is 640x480 source, camera is set to 640x480, high quality, and setting on CenterV2 is set to best quality; video is still saved in 32-x240. Using version 8.1.
-
Is this new in 8.12? As in the past when testing with sites that have 640x480 and 720x480 the max on the Center2 was 320x240 regardless.

How do you guys get over the 300' Cat5 restriction?

2 questions - Mixing RG6 & RG59 - Cat5 kinks
rory replied to boybloo's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
something I did a few years back, alarm and video, mixed 12VDC cameras and 24VAC, runs back from one store to the main store. Had to do it again, I would run RG59 back from the camera to the junction, then go from there with the baluns, as personally I think baluns are pretty flimsy. Also, although the client bought 2 different brands of baluns, neither really worked that well, 150' distance and there was a pretty good quality drop on at least a couple cameras, talked of installing an active RX at least for those, but he never got around to it; guess his expectations are less than mine -

true, should be okay. -

That would be more ideal, why the cat5, was it all you had between the stores and the office? Could you just run RG5 Siamese to each camera. At the same location you place the PSU, attach the Balun to the cat5 for the video going back to the office, perhaps use a separate enclosure just for that, you could purchase some empty ones from either of the alarm/locksmith companies mentioned in the PM, or try an electrical store. -

Where in the stores were you looking to place them? 9 channels sounds like OEM, Altronix is much better (typically 4-8-16-32 channel versions, and more expensive), but if they are entry level cameras then it wont matter much. Do they come with a key to lock the box? I mean theoretically one could just disable the camera, at the camera anyways. -
What kind of wiring, Fiber, or mixed?

Ouch, sounds like fun What kind of cameras?

Yes, it will give you a general idea, though if you are using a different PSU it may still differ in the end. But, yes. What PSU will you be using eventually? -

Yes but its still good practice to test the cable to make sure he is getting 12volts. If he isn't getting 12 volts (or close to it) to begin with, then it will be even less once the camera is connected. -

yup, eventually, but you can still test the volts to see how much initial loss there is coming from the PSU. Which camera though? Some box cams do 10VDC but not sure of the bullets.
