  1. sent you a PM. You can also use Beanies to join the Cat5 cable, same people I PMed you about have those, cant buy them anywhere else on the island though. Or you could get an enclosure and use barrier strips or terminal blocks - you can get them right at Radio shack, or even a Punch block.
  2. thats not a true day night though, its easy to spin the face off though, pull out the guts, then disconnect the IR .. did it on the regular model.
  3. you could always disconnect the IR, I did that on one of the regular 599's.
  4. More prone to interference, I have used it (way) in the past, but havent had to in years (back in the day when that was all we could find in nassau), and the ones I did came out okay, but a couple runs do experience occasional interference issues - issues I would not have with RG59. RG59 Siamese is now readily available where I live.
  5. is the card a trial also, like you could send it back when the software times out?
  6. Yep like Colin said, should be RG59, or if it is RG6 should at least be Copper inner and outer. The regular Cable TV coax, which has aluminum braid, can typically cause problems. Otherwise, you should have been able to fit an RG59 BNC Connector on the RG6 cable, as I have done in the past when I had no choice - its a tight fit though and will not normally be on tight.
  7. thing is, the electrician who originally did the connectors, used an analog tester which said all was okay, but when the other guy tested it today with his digital tester, he knew right away there was a problem with one of the wires .. so dont know exactly what was what, he just redid the furthest end .. and all was okay.

    Your View on 9040HIR

With an all in one Infrared Camera, the lower you go the better, but not too low. When you mount the camera at say, 8-10', you then want to raise the camera up so the IR does not hit the ground. Sometimes it will, if that is all there is and it obviously depends on the Infrared distance. For general observation, you essentially want an object for it to reflect off of, spreading it out evenly. Walls will work, bush and people will not. If you want to capture a persons face, you will either need to adjust the level of the IR at the camera if it allows you to, just enough so it will light up their face, but not enough to wash them out completely, OR mount it at a position where when the person comes into the image they are not too close to the camera, hence the IR is far enough away from them, but just close enough to illuminate their face; further zoom on the lens helps with this also. If you place it up too high, the IR will barely work as good as they should, and the persons face will be too far away anyways.
  9. had an electrician run a cable from a router to a separate building, hooked up a switch, though even that the electrician said he got a green light on his meter when he tested the cable ends, I got nothing on the switch. Its only about 350-400', I would think that would be kind of short for cat5? The same electrician has run cat5 cable for the client before, for other PCs and he does the connectors and never had a problem before. Think maybe he just didnt connect it right this time? Im wondering if I should buy the tool to do the connectors myself, but then Ive never done it, plus wonder if they even sell them here. He is off the island until Thursday so other wise it means calling out another person to go do that, seems like a waste of money IMO. Rory
  10. good news, connector wiring was just incorrect, had someone else redo it and it worked straight away, seems we must have been just under 300' then .. Im happy now!
  11. I must have been just under the 300' mark, as it worked for me after all, the person that did the connectors originally did the wiring wrong!! LOL

best thing to do is just put in an alarm, and cameras, wait for them to trigger the alarm, catch them on camera doing it, then pull the trigger yourself .. save the courts some money too. Subbed for a local alarm monitoring company for a few years, they had a couple thousand accounts when I was there, even more now, including a few hundred US Embassy properties, Local Super Markets, Jewelery stores, even the Casino, and many luxury and ghetto homes, basically a wide variety. Many people have iron bars down here, I have all my windows and even the door, protected with iron bars, and those that dont either have security screens, or storm windows. Some have the best locks out there, the strongest doors etc .. Doesnt matter what or where it is .. if the criminals want it .. they are going to try to get it, no matter what you have installed to "protect" it. Seen blow torches for doors, jackhammers for walls, tire wrenches for security screens, and many even carry small kids to squeeze them through to open the main entries, in the case of the casino, jet skies pulled up on the beach armed to the teeth. If they want in, they will get in. Having cameras to record them helps, but then again they "could" tief the recorder. As to the alarm, not hard to disable with very little knowledge; radio backup helps. Point is .. dont count on ANY security system to save your life or belongings .. get insurance for belongings, and get armed for self protection. Unfortunately though, most of the life threatening robberies down here (apart from the average home invasion) take place when the person is coming and going from the property. when they are taken by surprise. If you have an alarm system with a Remote Button or a Perimeter alarm to sound the siren, this may help to scare them off, though it could also make them harm you, and if you have cameras, at least if you get harmed, it may record the criminals so at least they dont do it to someone else. We cant have guns here, against the law, but for certain i walk back and forth to my vehicle with a machete in hand every time .. cant be too careful!
  15. Do you have any BW cameras connected to it? Also, pull off one camera at a time, and see if it goes away. Ive got that before when connecting a cheap BW bullet along with a bunch of color cameras, when the BW Bullet is removed it goes away, or you could try moving the BW bullet to the last port on the card, or the first.
  16. Down here though, cat5 is about the same price as RG59 coax .. and Switches are $50 each, not to mention the extra weatherproof housing or location for them I guess with short runs it would be worth it though. Seems that Wifi is where the IP technology really shines.
  17. ive used the regular 6mm version, lower res ... thing is though, this is still a basic camera, not a True Day Night, just a Color/IR camera, as it doesnt have an IR cut filter. They brought a couple in here to try out, dont think they started selling them though, I didnt get to test them myself though. They basically just sell the 598HIM as it is much better and not a whole lot more money. The 598 also gives you the true colors. Going by the image, looks like the little foam ring around the lens is not close enough to the front glass, that is there to "try" to block the IR glare coming back onto the lens from the built in IRs. So as well as getting the glare from the light itself, you are also getting the IR glare, which is going to effect the entire overall image as well. If you fix that, then you may get rid of some of the glare from that light. Also finger smudges or marks from rain on the glass will cause glare issues. As to interference, I dont notice any in the image posted, just light glare. Rory
  18. is that the ECL-599HT? http://www.eclipsecctv.com/ECL-599HT_security_camera.html
  19. Yeah but its still all just data .. analog, digital, still data, granted different technology .. though look at what they do with DSL on smaller telco lines .. In any event .. im frustrated .. I was hoping what I read so far about this 300' limit was not so. Im only doing this for a basic network for a PC, and in this case Im just going to split the cable in between now with an extra switch .. but so does this mean if you have large buildings and you are doing IP cams over a network, you either have to spend the $$ on fiber, or use switches every 290' odd feet?

Ive used Louroe .. works great. As to the audio file question, it will depend on the DVR being used. I think he wants a Non PC based unit though.

    cctv problem help please

For the cost of labour to fix it, would be better to buy a new one. Unless they have the detailed engineering specs on the camera though doubt they will be able to fix it anyway. Typically the power section will be shot, if thats a single board, then thats even worse.

    Get a STOP message

happen if you have deleted codecs after instaling them JD Didnt know that .. thanks I also see it alot when testing the activeX, when I disconnect it gives me that message, as LiveX.Disconnect and LiveX.StopX are both functions in the activeX, both are the same and disconnect from the DVR which shows that Stop message.
