rory replied to Kifertech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions

Need GOOD BNC connectors for my Siamese cable..
rory replied to squale's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You wont loose video signal with Twist Ons once they are connected properly, so its not that. Has to be some other issue, perhaps power related. -
Geovision 6.1 user.. can I upgrade with a GV-800 v3 card?
rory replied to squale's topic in Geovision
Version 8.0 and above are much more CPU and Memory intensive, the 1.5 will be very slow but should work. Ive used it on my 2.0Ghz with 512, it does work, just very slow so didnt leave it running, also takes forever to start up. You can disable the beep on video loss, not sure about the reboot, though its never rebooted on me with video loss. Rory -
Hi, the forum rules specify no posting of business and sales related information in the public forums, best thing to do is PM the other member in the event that they request further information from you. Other than that, you can provide as much information to the other member as you like, just cannot link to any online stores, dealer sites, etc. Basically we ask for links to the manufacturer only. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3144 Thanks Rory

I always disable UPNP on all Computers, security risk. Also, you could essentially just do this: for example to enable 3 ports in 1 line. 4550-6550 Use TCP/IP Filtering on the DVR so only the actual ports are opened, eg. 4550, 5550, 6550, etc, same with the Windows Firewall.

IP CAMERA WITH POE FUNCTION
rory replied to Kifertech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No problem. The rules on no advertising in the forums were created by the members at one time, and applies to everyone, not just manufacturers. Also, do you like my Chinese translation in the Introductions Forum sticky? I wish more manufacturers would do some banner advertising, to get the word out on their products. Especially the new or smaller manufacturers. I realize the smaller ones dont quite have the budget always, but I think it is important either way. Not everyone wants Bosch, GE, or Pelco, and especially if they can get similar or new technology that wont break the bank, many will try it. Also, feel free to update your profile and add a signature if you like. The signature is what is seen below each post you make. It can include your website, Company, etc, just so long as it is not a direct ad. Good luck, and enjoy the forum. Thanks Rory -
IP CAMERA WITH POE FUNCTION
rory replied to Kifertech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No that is not it really, just that the forum rules does not allow advertising anywhere on the forums; we have banner ads for that: http://www.cctvforum.com/advertise.php And this thread looks alot like advertising .. I didnt remove it as you are asking questions, but please if this is an advertising attempt to sell a product, please halt now. Otherwise, have fun on the forum! Thanks Rory -

LOL .. hope they dont put my software on that list! -
little black inserts, typically found with indoor domes, and some vandal ones, to make it appear that one cannot see the camera direction; somewhat of a fake tint. GE domes are the DR-1500 for the color, DR-1800 for the Color/BW (not true day night), and they have an Exview model I have never used due to the price. They have them in Fixed or Varifocal AI lenses, also UTP or Coax. Most dealers or retailers that sell any big name brand cameras will be able to get them for you, at least in North and South America. Yes I was looking at the Sony Day Night version recently also, as same price range and had the specs, never used it myself though.

Only if you make your own server .. they do give you C++ Code that lets you run your own app and stream video from the card, as long as it runs within the Geo folder, and as long as Geo DVR Software is running. I havent played with it any more than that though as its C++, and im busy with my other program. Ofcourse they already have the Java app, so one can use that, but it is limited and low quality. Another thing I did before while testing browser related Geo stuff, was to run the Java app on a seperate PC, it will then create the jpegs on the DVR. From that you then set up IIS (or other) Server and run a script on the DVR (in my case ASP) to display the images to the user; so yes thats basically just javascript image push. Another option I havent gone into any depth with, would be to create the images yourself, running the activeX inside a program on another PC on the same network, create the images (snapshots) of the live video, place those into a folder in the IIS server folder, and access the images from there using javascript, then you get the higher resolution. Far as I know only their video server is supported.

According to the ad above, it does Jpeg2000 Recording and H.264 Transmission, which to me means it records in Jpeg2000 and Transmits remote video in H.264? In Geo I currently do Mpeg4 Recording and H.264 Transmit for Remote Video, on slow connections. Quality of H.264 is not as good so I only do it for slow connections. That said, I havent used the DVR mentioned.
-
I dont have any numbers sitting in front of me, but yes for certain it is a much higher memory usage with 8.0, compared to 7.0. It also takes alot longer to start up. Another thing, I tested the 8.1.2 codecs with my software, and it was causing all kinds of slow video loading etc .. so except for the H.264 and Mpeg4 ASP the others I have kept as 7.0 for now, runs much smoother.

Ive used GE, they are nice. Their non vandal domes arent that great though, and for the same price you can get the vandal version which is good. As to tints, never use them IMO, they cut back the light to the imaging device. Also those little black inserts, same stuff, if you have a near wide angle lens then you really want to dump it, also it can scratch the dome cover when adjusting.

I havent seen a DVR yet that lets you select 2 different formats; just one format set manually or by default. One reason is the size of the image, they differ, and that means they would have to shrink or stretch one of them, and also if there is a GUI that will have to reflect the change in image sizes.
-
They really need to redesign the actual remote application. I mentioned this before to them but dont know if they have yet .. unless there was a change in newer models? Dont know if it has changed or not but it was the worse quality ive seen from a DVR yet, but then what you pay for it, makes it worth it, just to be able to see something over the internet for that low low price and record as well. if the software has changed recently then i stand corrected its a good budget DVR, the cheapest and has lan, however if you are buying a DVR for its remote video features and quality though, I would look at perhaps an Avermedia standalone for a couple hundred dollars more, or something more expensive. If you are on a strict budget though, then you cant be picky.
-
if thats the same budget model eclipse sells, im pretty sure it is a dummy port, only available on the more expensive units.
-
Also, you will get errors if any of the INI or Skin files are corupt.

I used 2 different brands, and they were awful, I would hope there are better ones. Note it was not NVT, or any of the others mentioned in the post above, but at least one of them was a very well known security brand name. -
Celeron 2.2 Ghz Processor .. ahh those were the days And that 200GB HDD must have cost a fortune back then

Ive used Channel Vision in the past, you get the filters for channels such as 72-78, etc, and thats the ones you are filtering out. With regular cable TV there is no actual channels on those, but you still need to filter it or the video will be full of noise. But direct into the AV on the TVs are always going to be best quality.

Dont know which cameras, but you need Cable and Power for the cameras. I would also get a UPS with AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) for the whole system, APC and Triplite are good brands. If they are box cameras they also need a lens, and a mount or housing. Rory
