Hi Guys, please keep business deals off the public forum. Also out of respect for other dealers, resellers, and retailers on the forum, please refrain from public recommendations other than product manufacturers. Use the PM feature when necessary. That said, James is a good guy, Im sure you will get sorted out. Thanks, Rory

well honestly bullet cameras as you have now, are not the best example for best image .. most box cameras can handle lighting much better than those, even moreso when using AI lenses. Then again I dont know which bullets you already have? You may be able to get away with a normal color box camera with an AI lens, something from a decent brand like Sanyo, GE, Bosch, etc, which would stay well below your budget. Otherwise some cheaper WDR cameras would be Nuvico, cant think of any others off hand, but here is a list of cameras from various brands which use a popular WDR Chip from Pixim: http://www.pixim.com/html/prod_cameras.htm (Note; some brands listed are simply OEMs)

also, just note that some DVRs will also use other ports for outbound (maybe inbound also?), usually TCP/UDP and other computers on your network at home may be using those. It should find available ports and just use those, however if perhaps another PC is loaded down with malware they might be taking up any available ones or cause other problems. I just connected with the Geo DVR software and it was using the 2800 range on my PC, though in the past I have also seen 1300 ranges as well. Download Active Ports and run it: http://www.protect-me.com/freeware.html Then try to connect with your DVR software and note the LOCAL ports it uses, if any, You will then want to check and see if anything else is using them on the PC or network, or whether the ISP is blocking those. For common programs that use specific ports, check the list out here once you determine which ports the DVR software requires: http://www.sonomawireless.com/~ports/port1-99.html Rory

Lan Port and Subnet are just for internal use. You can connect to the DVR from the Pub over the internet, so the Server side setup is correct. At the home try to telnet to it, forget the DVR's software and video for now. Command Prompt and enter: telnet IP PORT where IP is the static and port is the webcam port. If it doesnt fail, and it will tell you if it does, then it connects to that port fine and it is another issue. Edit-you didnt mention what DVR you are using?

they take up as much as the tool bar does, which means less browser space. If I didnt need the back, forward, and refresh buttons, I would get rid of that toolbar also Granted Firefox tabs are not as bad as IE7's.

Yes I have their SDK ... its not new though, its a mixture of 6-7.0 and 8.0. Dont really need support as everything is explained .. I spent months though in the beginning figuring out what everything was as I didnt have the SDK package, just the activeX .. now a couple things I didnt know or just could not get to work .. like maybe only 0.001%, it makes sense, since they are reserved and dont actually do anything.

nah not a fan of tabs, takes up too much of the screen

Thanks, glad to help. I was playing around with the SDK for the main Geo Server side, but think I will stick with the remote side for now, and maybe just some more basic mods like skins etc. for the server side. Lots of ideas but just not enough time .. I need a few mini mees ..

bit early for the pub hey Okay so is the Pub on the same ISP as the Office, and is the home on a different ISP? Or are they all on the same ISP? Rory

Recover Files from a National Electronics NLDVR376
rory replied to 501's topic in Digital Video Recorders
well if you have jpegs and can see them, as an image, and they are all the same widths and heights .. i can join them for you .. or just slap them in a program which will load each one from a folder and you can at least view them like they are a video -
man this is too much to read scorp anyway to save you time in the web browser .. copyright g o o g l e, etc

The GUI part is not that easy, at least not anything indepth. You can just edit the main skin though using something like Paint Shop pro. The loading window is not that difficult, it also is just an image. You have 2 options: 1 - Just change the GeoBrand.ini file in the Windows directory, setting Brand=1 and then BrandName=Whatever you want to show 2- Or you can edit the Splash.bmp in the CommRes folder, which is the image you see. MORE INFORMATION Anyone that wants to edit the Splash.bmp image: -GeoBrand.ini must have the line Brand=1 (Replace=0 with =1). BrandName must be blank. -Label must be 307x13 pixels, black background; specs for Label is as follows: ImageWidth=307 ImageHeight=13 ImageLeft=9 ImageRight=315 ImageTop=228 ImageBottom=240 ImageColor=000000 FontFace=Microsoft Sans Serif FontSize=10 FontWeight=Normal FontLeft=0 FontTop=0 FontColor=FFFFFF Here are 2 images you can use to edit with your favorite Paint program: (edit the label then place it in the Spash.bmp using the above guidelines) SplashCUSTOM.bmp (replaces Splash.bmp in CommRes folder) http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/SplashCUSTOM.bmp SplashLabel.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/SplashLabel.bmp Example Customized Images: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/SplashCUSTOMEG.bmp http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geo/SplashLabelEG.bmp As for the logo, you can simply copy and paste your logo anywhere in the empty part of the Splash image, as long as it is not in the section that is black, as part of that is reserved for Geo's own text.

Hi Domingo, whats the Error Message? I'd also look at upgrading to 8.12, then you also will have the software from Geo Called Remote View Log, which is included in 8.12. Remote View Log is just like using Video Log on the DVR, much better than Remote Playback. If you dont have 8.12 let me know and I can send you a link to download. Rory

Anyone got a list of IP cams supported by Avermedia?
rory replied to photys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Will do. .. well you know I need an SDK, or basically just an activeX I can work with, public procedures and all .. avermedia support that came on the forum once said they dont have one .. hoping these guys might .. also alot of their setup sections mimic GeoVision so close. Saying that though, I really dont have time right now to be testing anything new .. just too much time taken up on the software currently. -
Unless they are saving the video as images then creating their own video from that .. compressed .. doubt it though as well that puts more stress on the PC .. I can do something like that with Geo .. save each frame as a jpeg, compress it however much I like, then show it in a picture box .. but thats not really the best solution. It does show it like video .. but really it is just moving jpegs.

whats your impression to "made in China"--survey
rory replied to leo0929's topic in Security Cameras
twenhua that sounds very interesting. Do you guys have anything with an SDK or some way a developer can connect to the cameras using their own software, without using a DVR for example so we could program them remotely such as over the internet? thanks Rory -
No havent tried those, but have used their zodiacs for several years. Also used their IWise Dual Techs ... thats mostly what is installed in all the food stores and many warehouses in this country.
-
Also, you can test it first by using Telnet. Goto Command Prompt, type in Telnet IP PORT, eg: C:>TELNET 10.10.10.10 80 If it fails then the port is not open, or the IP is not valid.

Very simple program that removes the GeoVision codecs from the System Folder and the Registry. EDIT: MAY 27, 2011 Note: This does not work for all 8.3+ codecs.
