  1. Why the problem does not happen when i only have 2 cameras? 4 cameras uses more CPU and memory than 2 cameras.. and like VST said, also more from the video adapter. Note: As far as we know only Kodicom builders have the cards, so is this a legit card or a ready built Kodicom System; or did you buy the card from somewhere. Unfortunately we cant assist with pirated cards. Thanks Rory
  2. Dont know about that camera or controller, but typically you just use 1 pair (2 single wires) as it is just I/O, like an alarm switch. Ive run cat 5 in the past in case i need the extra pairs.
  3. Power the Infrared right at the Infrared LED/Bulb. In most cases, especially with the high powered IR, you are limited to only a few feet.

    nubix standalone dvr's

all depends since they keep changing the nubix from one brand of DVR to the next, so that depends when you buy it.
  5. bosch made in asia also. As for GE in China, they have a GE plant there, cheaper labour I guess. Is it China or not Taiwan though?

    Webcam audio issue

its probably just his laptop's audio drivers, seen alot of problems with laptop audio and things like skype ... Once it works on yours and the others, then it is set up properly. Once he can get audio (good or bad) then he is setup properly also.

    GV-800-8 + computer = good combo?

Seems alot of $$ for what is actually considered old technology now .. but it should work fine. Are you buying it ready built or building it yourself? Rory
  8. Dont know about Axis, but an IR Optimized lens is made for day and night. In the day time, we also have alot of natural infrared. Basically they just work around the focus shift issue. You can also somewhat get around that by focusing the lens off by around 10%+-, but this can take many man hours/nights to get it right. If you can get an aspherical lens (non Day Night IR Optimized) this will also be better than a typical lens, for Day Night Infrared apps. Unfortunately if you want a really decent infrared camera you will need to go to a company that makes them, such as Extreme CCTV. Everything else will be WYSIWYG. Also, the best Infrared Day Night setup is where there are 2 separate cameras; no Optimized lens or IR Cut Filter can give you the same results as a separate Color camera for day time and a seperate BW camera for nighttime. Extreme CCTV makes these, but they are ofcourse CCTV cameras, not IP, though you can also get versions of them that work with IP. Arcont (spelling?) has a version of this also, and they are IP cameras. Also, if you can force the camera to switch to BW mode, do that when focusing so it is being focused in that mode. This ofcourse depends on the camera itself, but the added chroma it seems degrades the quality somewhat, and hence in BW mode you are focusing it to the fullest. In other words if you focus in color mode, when it switches to BW mode it will not always be as focused as it could be. Although not related to IP, see this for links to threads on Day Night and Infrared apps. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6122 Lastly, we ARE talking about Axis cameras, if you want higher performance for day night apps, you should check out something like the Panasonic IP cameras or Extreme CCTV. 330 or 550 TVL whats the difference

Ok lets forget 550 for right now, as the Effective Image Pixels for that and 480TVL are the same, and thats what counts. So the difference is that a 480TVL camera will have more effective image pixels than a 330TVL, and that means higher quality image. Now that said, a High Res BW camera should be 570-600TVL, not 550TVL, but either way, its the same image pixels. Simply, there is visually a huge difference between a 330TVL camera and a 600TVL camera. Most low end BW cameras will be rated at least 400TVL though. Low End Color CMOS cameras are normally 330TVL and that image is typically horrible and a waste of money IMO.

where i can find the sdk source code for geovision

Ok ... one thing he wont be able to write an SDK so to speak, only Geo does that ... they get the card from the manufacturer who provides APIs to them (yes a low level SDK) and they create their software for it, then they provide a simple SDK for others that want to provide customized software for their "software"; not the cards. Anything more than that and you are basically going to the source of the card and using their APIs, or hacking Geo's software which is called pirating. Also, since he mentioned Remote Viewer and not DVR System Software, they provide an activeX control so all you need to know is VB6 or VB.net, but then you also have to figure out all the built in functions on your own.

    inline surge protector

No, not all have Voltage Regulation built in, you have to buy one that specifically mentions it in its specs. Otherwise it could get burnt just like a surge protector can during a brown out or other irregular voltage incidents. Most on the links you mentioned wont have VR built in.
  12. There will still be a focus shift though, unless you use a Day Night IR lens. Not sure if they make lenses for these cameras or not, but check out Computar and Fujinon. Depending on the camera though you may still need to adjust the focus with the IR on full and in pitch dark. Day Night app and a Day Night with Infrared App, are 2 different things. But the cameras vary so that will make the difference in the end on how you set it up. Whatever you do, a day night setup will always require day and night time adjustments to be done properly, especially when dealing with Infrared. So expect the extra work hours and if it is for a client, charge accordingly.
  13. I just end up doing it indoors with the lights on dim
  14. I agree with everything Chad said, though the ND filters never worked for us down here .. good advise though ..
  15. im using a ViewSonic Next Vision for my personal setup .. works cool .. got Tv into that using the Coax port, and the stand alone DVR into it using the RCA port .. the IR Remote lets you switch the sources .. also got a portable DVD player hooked up to it via SVideo. The output is to my old 19" Wide Screen Viewsonic LCD .. so yeah got the 2 of them here .. 17" LCD for my PC now (small desk!) Its probably way more than what you need but thought I would mention it anyway. http://www.viewsonic.com/support/accessories/tvvideoprocessors/nextvisionn4/

  18. Electrical Company Generators .. the big ones .. our island just got one they are calling it state of the art, blah blah blah .. just looking for some info on it cause it sounds like they maybe lying to the people .. which is a typical thing that happens down here .. Its called the D/A 13 Generator .. Rory

    Anyone here know about Generators?

yeah many people have generators down here, just like bars on the windows its a normal thing .. like having a car .. But no I cant afford one plus I rent. UPS .. yeah they are okay but the average consumer ones only last 15 minutes and our power is off from 1 hour to 1 day sometimes .. biggest thing here are Voltage Regulators .. cant live without them here. The Power Company is a government Monopoly so cant ask them to do anything ..

    camera's gettin hot??

They do get hot, depends on the camera and the actual location. But if they get too hot it could also not be getting enough power; Amps. How is the temperature where it is located?

    whats a good lense

I cant actually. There are tons of lenses on the market and first you need to decide which camera you will need the lens for, what kind of lighting conditions there are, and what kind of focal length you will require.

    Anyone here know about Generators?

LOL yeah, well the power goes off all the time now .. its Summer. Seems that great Generator didnt do the trick it was supposed to do.
  23. rory

    whats a good lense

dont know, must be a typo, also, if that is F.2 then its not that great for a day night camera, and definitely not for a low light camera. You want like an F:1.3 or F:1.2, or even better an F:0.95.

    WebDVR "Error on page"

Goto the Security Tab, click on Custom, the first Section is ActiveX Controls, make any that are disabled to Prompt. OR, just goto the Trusted Sites and add that IP (http://myip) as a Trusted site, then it should just load it without any questions.
