No prob, I personally prefer Fujinon myself, but have used both and they both work well. Also used Tamron in the past.

    whats a good lense

How can I tell a good lense? See below Who makes a good lense? Computar or Fujinon Where can I buy a good lense? Any Retailer/Distributor that carries the above product lines. What should I pay for a good lense? These days, not very much. Retail maybe $60+ Are any of the lenses on e-bay good? I doubt it, not much of anything CCTV related is good on e-bay Do I need auto iris? Typically if the camera is going outdoors, or anywhere there is frequently changing light. Price is not much more than a non AI lens.

    WebDVR "Error on page"

maybe also create a new user with Admin rights .. login with that and then try it again .. Goto Run, MSCONFIG Uncheck everything from the start up .. (remember them and put them back if it doesnt fix the problem or you need to put them back on start up), Apply, Restart, login that new user and try again. Also, it may just be the script is not compatible with IE7. See if you can "downgrade" to IE6 .. never used IE7 to any real degree so dont know if they give you that option or not. Personally I would always use the client software before going near a web browser.

    inline surge protector

Using a Voltage Regulator at the head unit that will handle both the Camera Distributed Power Supply, and the DVR.

Hide CenterV2 Log - Program Download

I'll have to look at it tomorrow afternoon .. But for now, goto display properties if you havent already, and turn the resolution size to something else, apply that and click Ok if it asks. Then set it back to your normal setting, and click apply again, and Ok. You can also try uninstalling Center, delete its folder, then delete the CenterV2 record in the Registry. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GeoVision\CenterV2. Run something like CCleaner on the Registry to fix any left over stuff. If that doesnt fix it, goto Device Manager and Uninstall the Video Hardware, dont restart, then do a Scan to find it again. You may need to have your Video drivers ready, depends on the hardware. If it doesnt work without restarting, try doing it again and restart before reinstalling the drivers. I can get rid of the lock actually by using a seperate desktop instead, works good also and is much faster to switch to and back again. BUT, it still doesnt get over the resolution changing .. as that is the real hack. Rory

    Cat5 Cable + and -

Thin cable, easily damaged. Need Amplifiers with video over 150' for high quality video.

    inline surge protector

Surge Protectors dont protect against brownouts, spikes, etc, the stuff that does the real damage. So its up to you, though I would definitely use a voltage regulator on both the camera power supply and the system.

Help me get the right power supply

Well you still need to find the PSU box and the PSU itself .. which is pretty much a no go down here .. its cheaper just to buy the ready built unit, as $200 is nothing compared to my time in $$ per hour it would take to get the parts and build one. Just buy an OEM one if you cant afford the Altronix, at least it is better than making it yourself.
  12. Could be small LEDs though, wont always cover and if anything would normally just be a small spot. 10-20' max basically, you need something much more powerful to do 100'+. Those little lights that stick in the ground dont do a whole lot. If anything the camera probably wont notice them at all.
  13. VST send me the pics and I will link to them from my site, Rory.
  14. Field monitors are fine for minor adjustments, but for a proper focus you need at least a 9" CRT monitor. LCDs are no good for focusing. Also, if you really dont want to work with a big 9 or 13" CRT there are focus meters, and then you could use that with the Field Monitor; but they are not cheap.

Help me get the right power supply

Check out the advertisers banners, one of them sells Altronix and lists Retail pricing. But first you need to know how many Amps you will need. Total the cameras required MAmps or Amps and go a little higher, then that is what you need. Do you know off hand how much each camera requires? That will effect the price on the Power supply as they come in various versions.

    GeoVision-800-12ch system

Stand Alone would typically be a unit with an Embedded OS (RTOS suggested), and not requiring a mouse or keyboard, having push buttons on the unit, or even an IR Remote Control; for total control. Typically their OS should not be on a Hard Drive, and the OS location is Read Only, non writable. It varies. Either way, GeoVision is a PC System.
  17. To get a good focus you need at least a 9" monitor, and CRT not LCD. Otherwise there are a couple Focus Meters on the market, best bet is to search the forum for them, but they arent cheap. In that case you could then just use a small LCD to adjust the camera physically and use the Focus meter to adjust the focus.

Help me get the right power supply

check out the Altronix Distributed Power Supplies. Also, a strip is not protection, Surge Protection or not, you need something with Voltage Regulation, either a Voltage Regulator, or a UPS with Built in Voltage Regulation.

    CCTV remote viewing problem

is your friend using the same ISP, also, that port may be in use by something else on your friends PC or being blocked for some reason. See if you can telnet to it from their PC: Find Command Prompt, enter: telnet IP PORT Where IP is the DVRs Ip and PORT is the port. If it clears the screen (doesnt fail), then it is okay. In that case it may just be security settings on their IE Browser. If thats the case have them add the DVR to the trusted sites list in the IE security settings. Also, let us know what DVR it is.
  22. LOL .. down here you dont need any signs. Any form of recording, audio, video, anything, can be done, "anywhere", there are no laws for any of that .. yet.

tcp/ip server(multi cam) show black screen!!

are you logged on as an Admin? As the codec will need to be installed when the program is installed .. then again normally you cant install the program without being an admin. what OS are you using on the PC in question? What version is the Geo DVR software and also what version of the TCP Client are you using? could also be an issue with the video adapter on the PC in question, though that would not be the first thing I would check.
