Network Video Servers if you need wireless, as then you dont need a seperate TX and RX for each camera, as you do with so called "analog". The thing is, DVRs have had integrated IP capability for many years now.

You dont need a dongle to run 8.1.2. What version did the card come with?

need software for Kodicom and geovision (generic software)
rory replied to carlosmarin's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Im pretty sure it is only their video server, though I cant say 100%. Also, anyone with any Geo Servers online, want to through up a camera for a demo? -
Best bet is to see what Extreme CCTV has to offer. If you are indeed talking about a night camera.
-
Is it just something like VNC or Remote Desktop, or is it more like a remote admin of just the DVR settings? Also, is it available for download anywhere to test out (try before you buy)?
-
ok so I should continue to develop my own then? Basically i dont care about the PC side, all i need sometimes is to change camera titles, settings, DVR name, etc basically i started an app like that already, if there was something free available from Geo then i would just use that .. I am surprised they dont suply Remote Admin for free though, with the DVR card that is.

they are programmed as zones .. the alarm company has the zone list ..

man that sucks ... though i had a laptop banging around in the back of my jeep for a year and it didnt get damaged, and i mean banging, i use to pick it up and chuck it to the back of the jeep! Then there are all the potholes and craters we have down here .. thing is it was off .. well the screen eventually went but still it took at least a whole year

wasnt it in a box or any kind of decent packaging? Also, have you tried resetting the bios, and also did you do a fresh install of windows (partition and format)?
-
did a couple when i was installing alarms .. simple 1 button wireless keyfob, can mount it, clip it on something (eg pocket, belt, etc), or wear around the neck ... tied into an alarm panel .. send emergency medical signal when they push it.

What is the best software for Arecont cameras ?
rory replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
cool -
Why only Bosch and Pelco? There are others such as Panasonic, GE, Sanyo, etc .. No one manufacturer makes cameras for every situation .. best to look around for the best camera for the application.

Looking for Installation Tutorial

Unfortunately any kind of books you find will quickly be outdated as this is an ever changing industry. Though you should be able to learn something about the basics from them, and go from there on your own. -
DREAM DVR - How would your DVR look like?
rory replied to a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I just built one actually i would prefer a really small one, with a BNC Backplane .. -
Its still a very old chipset ... Granted there is a markup, the parts they include in the PC side of it, are very very cheap right now, in fact that would be listed as a very budget PC.

You will be very limited if you stick to just one brand. No brands in the industry make a decent camera for every application. You should vary it, go with the best camera for the application, this can be from Sanyo, Bosch, GE, etc, depends. None of them have an all around solution.
