Whats the best vandal proof dome for around $200-250?
rory replied to jstory's topic in Security Cameras
brand name vandal domes run around $550+ retail price. OEMs run around $350+ retail. You get what you pay for always in the case of vandal domes. Note, we dont discuss dealer pricing in the open forums -
Yeah, but that probably only works with their cameras/servers? I think the OP is just looking for general software.

yeah well you have to reformat when you reload windows. Burn 98 to a CD, create a boot floppy, then format before you reinstall 98 from DOS mode. If these are really old systems, maybe AMD 600Mhz, I definitely would not load Windows XP on them, XP needs at least 1.7 to work good, you can get away with a 1.2 Ghz if its a mobile CPU, but still very slow, actually you can load it on a 300Ghz but it will crawl until you pull your teeth out, and probably cry when it keeps hanging. In fact I would load Windows ME over 98 any day of the week, it has some additional options 98 didnt have, for tweaking that is. I still have some ME machines out in the home user field that I built back in the late 90's, that never required anything besides the occasional cleanup, also never got BSODs. Ofcourse its been suggested they buy new PCs as of the past couple years, and I dont support them anymore, but so far so good. Ive heard others had issues with ME, though I never did, in fact I ran a web server on it for several years before switching to XP, and only switched to support newer software, as ofcourse XP is slower than ME (requires faster hardware). $200 can get you a new PC these days, id suggest it for certain, then you can run XP and get support for current software. -

Well there are many others out there, as you can tell alot of members on this forum use GeoVision so you will find pretty decent support from that, either by other members on this forum, or by Geo themselves. Another popular one is Avermedia. Dont let the popularity of them stop you from trying others though, check out some of the links on the forum. Personally I cant vouch for any I havent tried, but if you want people to PM you in regards to their cards, please go right ahead and post a request for that. They must keep it to PM though as advertising is limited to banner ads, unless they are an end user recommending it, which is even better as then they have used the system already. Rory -

where was it purchased from, what country? Anyway could be like mentioned above, or could simply be a bad card, or even bad PC harware, have you tested it in another PC yet, leave it running a few days, at least 48 hours. Rory -
in that case, and going by you have used the same hardware before, sounds like a bad card/s. Ofcourse could be a bad mobo also, they do exist I got an older mobo sitting here that works fine as a regular PC, but all the PCI slots are shot! It even recognizes the card in either slot, can load the drivers, but just wont work. if it is an overheating issue, what kind of temp is the location? Do you have case fans and what type of case is it? Can you access the temps from the MSI software? Rory

Nah, id rather solid state flash ..

oh ok .. Cop USA may still sell them. If not, a little pricey but VideoComm makes them still. http://www.videotransmitters.com/index.php?SCREEN=view_catalogue_level2&id=9&prod_ID=11 Most distributors can get you VideoComm.

Ok, now we got that cleared away, what are you going to do? Well what is it they want, whats the video chat for, local lan or internet? Always on or just sometimes?

Yeh Corporate is not seen as genuine on MS site's .. OEM XP Home goes for $80 each ... As for 98, well would be same as ME, but havent used it in a couple years so cant do anything without being there ... Reinstalling IE wont help a bit. Reinstalling Windows and doing a format before hand, will. Sounds like malware, or someone that had access to the PC Just locked it down for you -
I would use 5.8 over 1.2 anyway ..
-
Man I would say sub it out to me, but I cant work in the US, besides there should be other guys in your area you should be able to sub out the work to if you cant handle certain aspects of it .. Now that said, is this a Cabaret or a Strip club?? Both are illegal down here anyway, besides for the Casino and tourists I dont get the video chatroom though, if its a dance club?

yep, this is all I could find: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=208&maincat_no=1 Also, similar has happened to me when using VGA extenders for the pigtails, so make sure if you are using any of them, take them off for now. Also, whats that BNC strip behind the monitor?

Please help, I need a good wide angle/view camera
rory replied to ragermac's topic in Security Cameras
do you know the model of the camera? I doubt you will be able to easily change the lens, as the varifocal for bullets can be different sizes, though either way, you cant just use a standard lens, it has to be for a bullet camera. -
Cool Bomb making robot??

in the Bahamas its 100% legal, in fact I could place a microphone out on the road if I wanted .. But in the US it is different ... either way, as far as I know, once its private property I dont see a problem - check with a lawyer though.
-
I dont know as they are basically the same Effective Image pixels, however they are different cameras. They have different features. Also are you certain the Samsung is focused properly?
-
that may be hard to find, as for security reasons most developers arent going to put that option into their remote software, at least not for standard users. If its PC based though you could get your own small software made for that. Just use findwindow to get the DVRs stop and start buttons/feature and run a customized mini server for that .. GE has an activeX Developers control that will allow for that also once you program it in your code, thats for their Stand alone DVRs.

thats just a Day Night camera with a Mechanical IR Cut Filter, what we call True Day Night cameras .. see this post: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6122 A BW only camera, will always provide better sensitivity and image quality in low light situations, over a Day Night camera.
-
Exview BW 570-600TVL, any brand. The lowest light you'll get without IR. GE has a model. Even standard BW would blow that Samsung away at night.

They are on your property, I dont see why not .. its private property right? They are lucky they dont get more than just recorded ...!
