Dont forget cleaning the house, getting ready to just hire a maid now
-
Never, and no plans to try it I watched an electrician doing it the other day though .. i could just pay his guy $20 to bend the pipes for me if I needed it done, otherwise i would just hire him to run all the conduit one time. lol... Lazy! Not lazy, just working smart. I could be chilling out in the AC making more money with less sweat, Or CCTV work - troubleshooting, testing, installing, or quoting other jobs, while they are doing that. I can also clean pools, paint, and mow grass, among other things, but I dont

If you really want to do it, perhaps take a short course in electrical work, or do some part time work with an electrician. A busy electrician will have you bending pipe and running conduit in no time

Viewing LAN camera image w/Netpromax 240

Not sure, are they both running XP, or Vista? Also, the ATI cards sound okay, perhaps its a codec issue. -
im not too good at it... PVC isn't so bad cause its easy to cut and bend But PVC is not suitable for outdoors, especially in a hot, sunny climate. It will deteriorate badly within a relatively short time. Hmmm, its all we use down here. Ive had some PVC pipes sitting outside (not being used) just behind my apartment now, for the past 4 years, they look and feel brand new, and they've been in the sun and rain since then, AND, i live right on the ocean.

Hire an electrician/wire runner, this is CCTV, your a tech, do what you do best. If you have the time, the tools, and know how to do it, go for it, personally I wouldnt touch it, I would simply pay someone else, so I can spend more time on what I do (yeah yeah, layin in a hammock all day )

Is the video ok on the DVR side? If so, perhaps your video card on the remote PC client side might not support it. See if there is a setting on FXClient to turn off Direct Draw Overlay and if so see if that helps. Also have you tried it from a different remote Computer yet? Might be a codec issue also. Otherwise, its been a while since i used one of them but had no issues. Rory -
License for surveillance installs in texas?
rory replied to jstory's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yeah but for alarms (low voltage) correct me if Im wrong, its like a 3 day or 3 weeks multiple choice? -
Thats the Geo Software Watchdog then. Try what i mentioned, otherwise there is an INI file in the windows directory which has the setting to turn it on or off - its on by default.

depends on the plasma, but you would probably just use the A/V input which is RCA, so you would need a BNC-RCA adapter for the Monitor out on the quad. You could just use a RCA cable, so the adapter would be on the quad side - RCA femal - BNC male. Get a quad with an IR Remote if possible, so they can either use the remote itself, or learn it into their main IR remote - to change the camera views. They would have to place the quad near to the Plasma though. I've used the Eclipse CCTV quads in the past, comes with an IR remote and is very inexpensive - its OEM though so most OEM branded ones would suffice. Not many big brands have them nor have an IR Remote from what Ive seen, plus the price would be much more. Other hardware, UPS Battery Backup with Voltage Regulation - if they are powering off the local power company - they could get that down there though probably, we get ones here that are designed for Latin America (they stick the Caribbean in with LA) 600VA APC UPS for $140 with voltage regulation built in. I cant bring it in cheaper myself, due to Customs and Shipping charges. Not sure how well versed the client is with installing electronics, but if he has not done it before, he might want to see if there are any local installers that can assist. Most companies wont do it as he would be buying his own gear, but there could be some sub contractors (such as myself - but I dont live there) that would, once the equipment is decent. Also, dont forget the cable

Hilly terrrain with dense forest - no line of site

If there is Internet at both sides, you could always just hook it up to that, IP camera, Video Server, or single/4 channel DVR with lan. -
Select disable video Loss Beep. Also, disable any cameras that are not connected. If it continues.. Is this a new build? Was it doing it before? Exit Geo, leave the PC running, if it still does it, there could be a PC problem. You can also check the Geo System log, as well as the XP Event Log.

Whats better a 12 Volt DC power supply or 24 volt VAC?
rory replied to jstory's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Altronix also gets you the higher amp power supplies, for example i needed 2 amps per camera so i got a 25amp Power supply .. cant get that in the OEM gear normally. -
What type of DVR or system are you using to view the cameras from?
-
if its using a DVR, make sure Direct Draw Overlay is enabled.

you should find some ideas in these threads: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6122 Most of the True Day Night IR bullets are basically the same specs. The difference with the WZ camera is that it costs much more than the rest, which IMO is not worth it. Plus it has so many alan keyholes to get into the camera itself, its crazy. I prefer the Eclipse model at half the price, but im looking at the Nuvico as its the same cost as the Eclipse, but dual voltage.

one probably has a bad power board, take one of them off at a time, until the mixing goes away. Then you will know which camera it is. Send it back or buy a new one.

WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
rory replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
CCTV_Down_Under: The GE's are 2500-9500K color range .. guess the same as the bosch? G-men: Many of the WDRs on the market you will find are CMOS now, at least the ones that use the Pixem chip, which are most of the brand names you know well (not Pano or Bosch though). Dont let it fret you though, its not the cheap CMOS gear. BUT, i have the latest GE WDR CMOS and their CCD Day Night WDR cameras here to test, will post some results when done. Hope to test them both this weekend. If their CMOS WDR still suks, as it did back in their UltraView (first generation), I will certainly let you know. Thing is, its not cheaper than the Pano, but at least it can give us an idea on how the other cheaper brands will perform which use the same chip. I really want the Day Night to test which I received, as it is inexpensive and their older CamPlus Day Night was very good, short of not having WDR, this one even has a Dynamic Range, dont know how good it is but will see. http://www.pixim.com/html/prod_cameras_dome.htm http://www.pixim.com/html/prod_cameras_box.htm Rory -
Hi, create a folder on the 2nd drive, call it anything you like, eg. VIDEO1, then select that folder for the path. It needs a folder to select, wont let you just select a drive by itself. Then REMOVE the first drive from the selection. Rory
