is this because the bullet design forces the ccd to run hot? Mostly because the components in a cheap camera are, cheap. I have pro cameras going over 6 years now, and the image is the same high quality as day one. You get what you pay for, simple as that. Cheap cameras have their place, not all of them, but many do.

You can set the Popup feature for motion, not sure if you can set I/Os for that also (dont have a geo card installed at this time to check). Additionally Geo will recognize certain Hotkeys, so you could write your own app to do this for you.

Client needs an inexpensive system - pc based too expensive
rory replied to sbbamafan's topic in Digital Video Recorders
only price difference will be found in the cheap budget units, they will save you alot of money, but will not have near the features. -
Lower light sensitivity than a Day Night camera, but daytime quality can be an issue, and of course no color identification. It still has its place though, for certain.

Thats good to know Though i'm sure it depends on which GE DVR you are using also, as not all can use updated firmwares.

its been a while but as I remember it was the normal master and slave jumper settings. BUT, they must both be 5400 rpm drives, as 7200 draws too much current for the default Power Supply. If you want to use 7200rpm drives you would need the PSU upgrade which requires certification by GE - not worth it. Theoretically you could use a regular PC power supply, not sure if it would fit though, you could look for a bookcase PSU and try that, may need to mount it outside though and extend the cables.

DVR Loop when used causes quality problems?
rory replied to jabaroon's topic in Digital Video Recorders
termination should cause bright video, never seen lines from it. -
Images are rolling on DVR
rory replied to sbbamafan's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
is it active or passive, as like Ken said DVRs are typically more sensitive to low video signals. 400 and 700 feet are long distances, especially for 12VDC also, but that seems to work so i would imagine its video related. -

How are the cameras powered, and what voltage. What kind of UTP transmitters or Baluns are you using, which brand? How is the video and power run? -
DVR Loop when used causes quality problems?

Probably some sync issue with the quad, try plugging them into the quad only, see how that is, ive had 2 cheap quads do this to me installed by themselves, just resetting the power a couple times did the trick. If the quad works by itself, and you go back into the DVR with the quad, and its still doing it, then I guess they wont work together, perhaps contact the quad reseller and see what they have to say. Maybe go through the quad first then to the DVR and see if that fixes it also. -
could be, they might have just had that custom made and stuck a board camera inside it.

Not sure if that is a similar card or not, but i have installed MSI GeForce 6200 64MB Video cards in motherboards for Geo and all I got was a blue screen where the video was supposed to be, so i would lean away from those. I prefer ATI for Geo but typically NVidia will work also.

Hi, glad to have you here Lee!

Cool man .. More fans the better, but if you like, i find 1 in and 1 out, plus one on the CPU, just fine, since you have the bigger CPU fan you should be able to ditch the additional side panel CPU fan. Watch the temps with just the single 1 in and 1 out and see how they are, adjust as needed. Why raid though if only 1 hard drive? I didnt find much of an increase in speed myself with the Core 2 Duo, and thats with the 2.67, though the control panel came up quicker But you have DDR2-800 and that probably is making a big diff too, mine was DDE2-667. ALso I wasnt doing any multi threading really, just regular apps.

Different Chips, Exview sees in much lower light, though produces more noise. here is another thread to look at, other links to threads within. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6077

Sounds like fun, for what a TV costs these days (very little), its easier just to buy a new one.

Hey guys, for access to the dealer section please contact the admin, larry (PM him via one of the links) though there is not much action there.

Yes most are, because of the hurricanes and all.

wont work down here, if it was 900mhz might be worth trying, but our walls are mostly concrete ...

Modulators are good when you cant get cable to the TVs.

Own a Geovision card? Do yourself a favor, check out Livevue
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
Yeah but the problem is that it is basically just an HTTP Redirect, so Telnet and LiveVue wont recognise it .. No-ip basically puts your IP and the Port together, which wont work for Telnet or LiveVue. (10.10.10.10:8081) The only way I can see for it to work without going too deep, is to create 2 names, eg. DVR1.sytes.net and DVR2.sytes.net and use one for the LiveVue/Telnet and one for the browser, the browser one being the Port 80 Redirect, to the non Redirect name. Eg. DVR2.sytes.net (browser) TO DVR1.sytes.net, Port 8081 (Telnet/LiveVue). I actually made my own No IP program that would be integrated into the new version, well its not 100% complete yet, i wrote it sometime last year and it works, small server app is run on the DVR in the back ground. Allows the users to add normal user names, eg. Metsfan, instead of Metsfan.gotdns.com -

rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
Yes telnet works with the IP, but not using the DDNS name .. If i cant telnet to the DDNS name, LiveVue wont connect either No-ip's redirect must use some browser based code or check for agent type .. is there any literature on that anywhere, any other settings you can change, or disable, on their side? Do they allow you to also add another normal service without the redirect?
