    Bullet Camera Recommendations

Sony doesnt make Bullet cameras, so assuming it is OEM, is there another name on it? Or do you have any specs for it? If it is color, Nuvico has a high res color bullet (Effective Pixel - 811H x 508V) that retails for about that price, I havent used it though. Ive used a popular low res OEM Color bullet for a few years now, OEM'ed by Eclipse CCTV in my case. You may have seen some images from it here before, they dont last long though, maybe 1 year with decent image, another year until they die. Others also OEM the same camera. Rory

    GV800 RESTART LOOP (solved)

If you already deleted the Geo folder, and its still causing an issue, only thing you can try right now is goto the Windows folder and delete Geo*.ini. Use command prompt and CD C:\Windows DEL geo*.ini NOTE you loose your settings doing this. There are other Geo related INI files such as PTZ settings etc, that arent labled as Geo*.ini, if you can make out which ones these are, delete them also, if not try this without. Be careful as WIN.ini and a few other Windows related INI files are also located there. All the Geo*.ini files though are safe to remove. make sure Geo is uninstalled and the folder is deleted also. Optionally use the RemoveGeo file in this thread, but you still have to delete those INIs manually: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=54174#54174 After it is removed, and the INI files are gone, use a registry checker such as CCLeaner, using its Issues feature. Also use its Cleanup feature. Run the Issues check at least 3 times. Run a Check Disk for Windows, and Defrag. Remove the Geo Drivers, shut down and remove the card. Place it back in and make certain it is sitting in the PCI/PCIe slot correctly. Power back up, run the DriverInstall program, then reinstall Geo. If you still have problems let us know.
  4. thats going to be hot, even for here. Is there any air circulation at all, cause that will at least help, any windows left open or is this all closed up? My appt can reach that easily, but then im not warrantying anything in here! Anyway if you do put one in there, use Intel onboard video (PCIe/AGP Video cards would generate extra heat and i have tested Intel onboard vid with at least a GV1120 and it is still working fine), no more than a 350 watt PSU (eg some Antech Cases come with them), 1x 120mm Exhaust Fan at least, 1x80mm intake fan at least, 1x Side Panel CPU Fan (stock CPU fan with this works well, i get them in the 30's with no AC down here). Use 3 speed fans so you can adjust that according to the heat in the room manually, unless it changes alot then look for a temp based fan. I like the 3 speeds myself. I would use at least an Asus board also, not a cheap one either, the MSIs seemed to freak out in alot of heat, i prefer the Asus CPU fan control approach. As to the hard drives cant really help you there. maybe put the 2x500GB HDDs in 5.25" HDD Coolers and use 2 of the 5.25" bays for those. Or just make your place as hot and watch the HDD's temps using something like Speed fan - http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php. Perhaps add an extra fan near the hard disk bay.

Where do you buy CCTV Products?

Rory do you know where to buy them from? how much do they retail for? thanks Not sure as its new, we got the demo unit direct from them. I would have to check tonight and send an email to them to ask where they are retailing now. I would think it is retailing around the same price of the cheaper Everfocus and Nuvico units. Its also sold under other branded names by other OEMs, i know of at least one personally, but im sure there are more. I was actually impressed how clear the remote video is ..

LOL .. well alarm, camera, locks .. wont really help .. nothing is 100% .. time to get proactive and get a machete and a gun and start going rambo style up in there .. Voip .. nah wont work down here ... we have decent broadband but too many occasional down times .. besides what good is any of that when the CMS staff is trying to reach the cops but the emergency system is down .. again!!

well all they actually have to do is cut the wire from outside Thats why we use Radio Primary down here and phone secondary
  12. thats because the player from my link, is just a Media Player object, inserted onto a Visual Basic Form, with the appropriate code for it to work, and the most important part is that it installs the codecs upon loading, if they are not installed. Now as to Windows Media Player not working after that, its probably checking for updates to the codec, turn off that feature in Windows Media Player settings if it isnt already. See the Windows Media Player program is still different from just the Media Player object, which is in mine, but they will still use the same codecs once my player installs it.
  13. Dont know if they are, just was told the actual dome quality wasnt as good .. cheaper is all. Cant say what the image is like, I would love to see one, but cant spend the money to buy one to test it. The Pan Focus they have here is looking at a door entrance, actually does pretty good without WDR .. but I only saw it briefly so cant say for sure. I doubt any of them are going to match the low light level of a BW camera though, the Sanyo (you and i have) definately doesnt, neither do any of the Day Night box cameras ive tested in the past .. at the club .. hence BW all around .. but ill give these a go down there anyway since i have them to demo.
  14. saw those listed before, didnt try them as was told they are still generally lower quality than say a GE or Sanyo. BTW i have 2 new WDR cameras from GE to test, i just have to order some lenses as they are box cameras and the demos didnt come with lenses. The same technology will be in domes as well shortly, apparently. One of the cameras is a CCD WDR and the other is a CMOS WDR. GE recommends the CCD model for lower light Day Night apps. The CMOS version (KTC-XP3) seems to only be a Low Lux CMOS Color camera, while the CCD version is a Day Night. http://www.pixim.com/html/press_release_070131.htm CMOS WDR CCD Day Night WDR

Thats normal without line seizure, as it is sending additional signals to the CMS, probably a disarm signal in your case. Line seizure will disable your phone line while the alarm signal is sent. But it has to be setup like that at the alarm panel by the installer. Its actually annoying to some and down here its typically left disabled.

    Video Baluns and Cat 5

I would like! Yes I only had the chance like I said to test 2 brands, they were well known brands though carried by major US distributors (not the smaller OEMs). And the only other gear ive seen are based on images provided by others on the forum over the years. Let me know .. thanks

Where do you buy CCTV Products?

Yeah the 599 was not bad actually .. just the no IR cut filter thingy .. thats why i Didnt mention it .. works though .. just stay clear of the Max255 .. not worth saving those extra dollars for the horid image it produces I got approx 50-60' of IR from the 598HIM though .. they arent bad for the price.

    Video Baluns and Cat 5

what kind of distance? I tried 100' without a balun and got no video, just lots of noise, flickering ..

    Video Baluns and Cat 5

Dont get me wrong now, im not saying UTP is bad, in fact i would agree with a Casino app like that, would typically be better to run cat5 and use cable management and distribution panels. I was commenting on the Baluns most pick up for $25-50. From what ive used, and what ive seen from images posted on the forum. The Balun and Passive quality topic goes back a couple years now
  23. as far as i know the zoom is an add on module. the camera itself is much like the older sanyo in the quality and the day night area, but it stays in focus throughout the manual zoom. I havent really spent any time with it yet, its still sitting down at the CMS as a demo and its not mine so .. But i will ask my friend if I can get a hold of it for a couple days .. i just got a couple new GEs to demo and will post about them once i get a couple lenses and test them.

    Video Baluns and Cat 5

2 different brands, cant remember off hand, but others on the forum have also had the same results. It was all high quality GE box cameras, 150-200 feet max. These were baluns, not hubs (receivers/tranceivers) so they are obviously lower quality anyway. Client could not afford NVT type gear. The only ones I would recommend now though are NVT or Nitek. also, looks like that Pelco gear you have is a distribution amplifier, we are talking direct camera to DVR with no additional amplification. Thats why you more than likely receive noise using Active, and it is fine using Passive. http://www.pelco.com/products/default.aspx?id=226 An you are talking a Casino application, we are not
