I agree with Ricky on that .. worst thing you can do is add tint to a low light app ..

The Seagates are much quieter .. at least with the latest Sata Drives ive been using .. used both WDs and Seagates .. all the WDs from different retailers were noisy or got very noisy over time .. the seagate has been rocking on in a very silent mode ... this is important for a DVR in a clients bedroom.

also looks similar to the eclipse XP cards .. which were Digiflower.

Well I dont know if we need a whole section on lenses, lets leave that up to the manufacturers .. but if enough of you show interest, then best bet would be to PM the admin, or see how this thread goes. Personally, Ive used Computar, Tamron, and Fujinon. Ive had good and bad results from all of them, but fujinon is my choice these days. I used a Tamron Aspherical Lens with a UF500 IR on a Sanyo D/N camera with great results, but that was a long time ago.

Maybe i missed something...but isnt the main purpose for those cams to identificate number plates in the dark?? Day and night .. 24/7 guaranteed. (well not guaranteed actually .. its like a 85-90% ratio i believe) Yes, i know its a day & night, but a gas station will never be dark. So do you really need this high end camera then ? I cannot say ive ever seen such a camera on a gas station before..... I havent decided to disagree with you though, im just trying to understand this... No, you should be able to get away with a Panasonic Box WDR camera in a housing then .. with a 5-50mm lens ... well actually you will need several

Have you tried VideoComm? Ive used them and they work great. -
^^ LOL .. let us know .. Also you can get Extreme CCTV Reg cameras from the UK, check with any of the major distributors there. Derwent, who makes the IR used in Extreme Cameras, is based in the UK, and there is an Extreme CCTV UK department also.

Hi, we normally install beams approx waist height, at least in the alarm industry .. just for information .. that can ofcourse differ upon the installation, but thats the general height. Rory

Never heard of them.

GE has its own manufacturing plants for its cameras, in Asia. The current camplus cameras were available with the same exact specs and design before this purchase. BTW they use the Pixem chip in the Cmos Ultraview camera ..

Why cant they catch up to windows based systems ..? They typically all look like a 3 year old designed the GUI, and ofcourse they lack the features, is this just a limitation of programming for Linux, or is there just not enough interest in Linux to call for Professional Programmers to get involved? Any Linux Veterans out there, let us know please .. Rory

obviously you did not catch the the point in what I was saying. What i was trying to get across was not the fact that we did not install them. But the facts as you compare the service and maintainence in pc based vs. embedded. honestly rory lets say you had a crew of four installers. And every time you have to send your guys out to service a piece of equipment that your company installed, on average you lost $2,700. (half a days install for 2 techs is worth on average 2,700 between the two of them). So you have the opportunity to have 1 incedent a year in which you only eat the cost of 2,700. Or you could eat the cost of 42 different $2,700 dollar losses each incident. which one would you feel more comfortable in going with? the 2,700 annual loss in revenue? or the 113,000 annually in lost revenue? well I can tell you which one I chose. Was there a point? What i gathered was you dont install PC based DVRs. You can claim one is more this and that, but until you actually set them up and not just go and replace, you wont know the difference. Ive installed and maintained both by the way, PC based by far is the least expensive overall for both sales and maintenance (perhaps more work though). As for ICrealtime, I wont mention the number of PMs i got regarding complaints on those units, and no I wont go into detail, and yes, there are plenty of complaints on other DVRs also. Non PC based are typically easier in the way of plug and play, but that doesnt always make them better, depends on the situation. Lastly, unless the PC based is built and setup properly (which unfortunately too many are not), it will ofcourse have issues, and that also depends on the card and software used as well; but the same can be said for any electronic device, including the non PC based DVR.

That is your opinion.

Ether9808 DVR very slow with radeon 9250 graphics card -Help
rory replied to russ1150's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I would put all the issues down the the Dell PC .. Have you tried either card in a new PC? Do you know what motherboard is used in that dell? 2.5 celleron, you are looking at a CPU with a 128K cache probably .. How much memory is installed in the PC also? I doubt the onboard graphics will do much if that board is as old as the CPU. Rory -
Umm .. yeah, a simple we didnt install them would have sufficed .. My point is they require so much servicing/maintaining because they are not setup properly from the get go. Most people just install XP Default and the DVR software, and call it a day; thats asking for problems. BTW, what happened to all the Mace DVRs in the field? havent heard much on the forum about them these days .. Ill have to try a pano one of these days ... Wonder if they have any demo units?
