and $40 entrance fee ...

I thought they were keeping them for historical reasons .. I did mention removing them before .. dont know what happened with that though.

Admittedly it isnt a problem with all 12VDC cameras and lighting. .. but after a couple times .. it was enough for me, even if it only effected 1 or 2 cameras out of say 16 for example .. getting replacement PSU's down here isnt that easy .. Yep I still use 12VDC on the budget cameras, course no choice there ..
-
Please explain this one. (PS; I did mention the polarity advantage .) With certain indoor lighting, you will notice that many 12VDC cameras will change color tones back and forth .. replaced with 24VAC, will normally fix that problem. Cant remember the exact technical reason, but thats when i stopped using 12VDC cameras on a whole. Luckily most professional cameras are dual 12VDC/24VAC so the most you normally have to change is the PSU, and where the 24VAC PSU is actually cheaper than the 12VDC unit, along with additional reasons already mentioned, it makes sense for an installer to use 24VAC over 12VDC, whenever possible.

LOL .. that wouldnt work down here, the people going to the clubs wouldnt go if they knew they were on camera, too much sweethearting and they scared they spouse would catch them on camera ..! Also, 30 days requirement will now just make clubs drop the quality of their recordings to get longer recordings, except for the ones that can afford (or will spend for) 3+ TB disk space. I say ... good luck

Dont buy it unless it specifies the effective pixels and they are comparative with the specified TVL.
-
Longer runs, no polarity issues, no auto white balance issues as experienced with 12VDC under certain florescent lighting, etc.
-
Many have OSD now. That can be a good thing, and a bad thing though.

I think he means it has an auto back focus feature, alot of brand name cameras have this feature available now also.

Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....
rory replied to megavolt512's topic in General Digital Discussion
you'd think right? Actually it used to be that only high end stand alone units gave some export/PC options, now though most of the mid level DVRs will have export features similar to even Geos .. not quite the same but similar. Most budget units still dont though, however some are doing it now. Even GE DVR's export options arent great either, even with it being considered a high end DVR, hence why I had to use CamStudio. -
Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....
rory replied to megavolt512's topic in General Digital Discussion
Ive used CamStudio with Kalatel/GE DVRs, which works, but never used the Nuvicos. -
take a look at the Optex gear ... Also take a look at a Siren with a Voice Driver ... They should have a burglar alarm system anyway, so just tie that into there.

Why is that?

the IR Remote should work with v 7.xx

check out this DVR tweak program i threw together .. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7342

in most clients cases, once it works, its being left as is. If they specifically ask for a new feature, then thats another story. If you have versions lower than 8.xx, and just want the new look, I have a free skin program on my website (for NTSC).
-
Are you talking about the real time display card? Yes, in that last paragraph, but as far as I know its been discontinued now.
-
With version 8.1 ... and the Combo card... You can just leave it as is, and it shows the video only (no GUI). So whatever multi view you have the DVR in, the DSP output will be the same. Hence you can use the IR Remote at a TV using an extender for example, switch the views on the DVR, and it will also change it on the TV. Or you can use the DSP Spot Monitor feature, and it allows you to set the DSP views with specific cameras, sequencing, etc, BUT the drawback to that is the live video on the VGA monitor has overlay disabled when that is set and hence lower quality video. So myself, I never used the spot monitor feature on the Combo card. The seperate DSP card worked differently, with versions 7.xx, not sure how it works with 8.xx as havent used it with that. But back then it only showed the video as how you set it to be, so it didnt mimic the DVR video.
