  1. Whats the distance in feet/miles?
  2. Hi jasper .. Ive been working on new features. Its a completely new rewrite .. so adding that in should be easy. Im actually creating the main Video code as a User Control (not as a public ActiveX Control just yet) so i can reuse it in other variations of the program easily. Im currrently working on the motion detection. Geo's built in motion in the ActiveX causes too many crashes, so i had to write my own. Im working on the masking part now, thats the hardest actually, the actual motion detection is working, just too sensitive for certain lighting conditions, etc. Its nothing amazing, and not to be confused with the superior motion Geo has on the Server side (LOL .. but seriously mine is basic motion detection, 16 box grid). Im not 100% sure how the motion will work out with 30 cameras yet, the way it is coded, so that Ive yet to test and clean before moving onto the other features. Also added in a popup feature for the motion .. if selected it simply popups the video in full screen mode .. only issue with this is the user has to manually click the screen to go back to normal .. its a limit with the Geo's activeX full Screen function (the one I have) .. it basically waits in full screen .. when it comes out of full screen then whatever program is calling it, continues. I have looked briefly at another option, my own Full Screen mode .. and i may incorporate than instead, will require much more code though and it is similar to the way Full Screen games work. I already did add in a High Quality feature, somewhat; it pauses all the other cameras and loads the one you select in full single view, in highest quality (eg 640x480 depending on the user's DVR webcam setting). Im also going to look at other alternatives, but they would probably include running a separate little server on the DVR that catches the newest AVI, getting the last BMP image from it, and sending me that image. Not everyone is going to select Create JPG for FTP on the DVR's WebCam side, and even if they do they are typically low quality, hence not just using those images .. however this method maybe kind of slow, but at least you get the latest highest quality image from the DVR for the selected camera, refreshed as quick as it can be retrieved. Im still waiting to get my hands on the 8.0+ SDK so I will need that before I release this new version also. Any more ideas please do post them here, or PM/Email me them .. Thanks Rory

GE Dvmre 16-CT-A that goes nuts

Have you checked the cameras at the site? Normally this indicates one or more cameras have cable/power issues, with the GE DVRs anyway. You'll have to go there physically and take one camera off at a time until it stops doing it. You can try to disable one at a time remotely also.

    VGZ file converter

well there is a command line compression program called 7zip .. http://www.7-zip.org/ if you're good with scripting or making exe's you could make something to do that for you .. BUT .. its probably not going to compress them much more, and even so, compressing a DVD size file takes a long time .. let alone 7 of them (28gb?) . Might have to look at another method.

something i googled http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/24539p1.html and this download here ... (click Scarica to download) http://www.digiview.it/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&gid=26
  6. Channel Vision and channel plus (or one or the other) are carried by just about every security distributor ... should be easy to locate one of them . I've specifically used Channel Vision products myself. Rory

    License plate reconginition camera

if you need nightime too then kind of stuck with the Extreme REG line .. big $$
  8. you need a Modulator, like ChannelVision or Channelplus .. Also, if you use the combo card you can just use the DSP RCA out .. Or use the loop card and loop out each camera individually so they can each have their own channel .. or just use a T-Connector (not as good but works) ... or use a quad, or a mux .. either before it goes into the DVR, or from the loop out card ... Lots of choices .. but the bottom line is the modulator/s .. max 4 channels available typically .. Rory

Adding a second card to GV-1480

No, with Geo it is only 1 card per system.

    Calibur by Kalatel DVMRe-16CD

Okay .. if you send me the IP and pass, I can check it out (Pm though). If you have access via WaveReader then I should be able to connect to the developer's section on it, just cant rememer the URL off hand, I believe it is http://10.10.10.10:1024/dev.ssi (where 10.10.. etc is your IP) Otherwise I can dig through the info I have here or email a GE contact direct regarding that .. its been a while since I had to deal with a GE DVR. It is probably too old for WaveBrowser, which are files that are installed on the new ones, and they can be added to older Triplex DVRs .. not sure about the Duplex models though. Also I need the version number, when it boots up check the version and send me that. Rory

    DVR and Apple Airport Extreme

Never used that, but Everfocus use to have a Java Based Browser viewer ... so Mac's may be able to connect that way.
  12. send me the software link and Ill see if there is an activeX that can be used, some do have it, some dont .. some have it but still dont have browser access, as was the case a few years ago with Kalatel, and I managed to create my own browser viewer. If there is an activeX and there are any kind of public functions, then it could be used.
  13. Maybe, maybe not, its better not to try as it could be a waste of money .. The GV250's probably will .. the 800s+ i wouldnt think so. The problem can come when issues arise and you need troubleshooting .. If Dell doesnt have them, there are many others that do, or you can also build it yourself, or have someone build it for you .. also many sites will custom build systems (eg. TigerDirect).

    Back Focus Question

if it was a new camera typically you dont need to backfocus it, but if you do, backfocus and focus it under low lighting, like early evening. No need for IR corrected lenses once it is done in low light, and you arent using IR.
  15. I doubt those the software with that type of system will have it though, as they are mostly made in china, also mostly for the DIY market .. Its going to be hard to find anything, but Luxriot should do it, just isnt cheap. Rory
  16. What DVR are you using? Most well known DVRs will have the Kalatel Protocol. If it is a PC Based list the model .. they do give out their protocol for free also.

No, i have multiple like you also .. In the GVSeriesV.inf file its saying its a GV800S, and using the GV800S.sys file .. and the driver_info.ini seems to have a match .. so unless its not an S card then it may just be a coprupt driver SYS file ..? Maybe try searching for that file and deleting it .. first uninstall the drivers .. then try it .. then reinstall the drivers again .. maybe download them again. Or just overwrite that sys file with a newer one .. best to send that info you just posted to Geo and see what they have to say .. goto RegEdit .. look in this section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI The Geo Video Driver should be within the first 3-6 PCI keys .. When you find it .. look for the hardware ID .. and open that value and copy paste it here .. i want to check it out .. It should look something like this .. PCI\VEN_109E&DEV_036E&SUBSYS_763C800A&REV_11 Also, copy paste the CompatibleIDs value. Rory

The only other thing I could suggest is to back up all the Geo*.ini files in the Windows folder. Remove Everything again, if doing it manually, do Uninstall, and then remove the Geo Folders Created (usually the root drive). Then delete all the Geo*.ini files in the Windows folder. Uninstall the drivers. Run CCleaner, both cleanup and issues. Restart. Reinstall the 8.1 drivers, and reinstall the 8.1 Geo Software. The other registry items shouldn't matter. If it works now, then its just a matter of importing the settings, somehow Rory

run the GeoVision Remover in this link .. reinstall and see if it still happens. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7608 If it still does it, you may need to delete the Geo Settings Files located in the windows directory and reinstall again. Also, make sure you installed the GV8.1 drivers first. You can just run the Driver Installer file and it will uninstall any old ones first.
