Can I use the PSS Software Bundled with Dahua on another..
rory replied to lselfstorage's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Doubt it but post the Swan model. -
how is the video at the camera with a monitor connected to it? your cheapest route would be to power the 2 or 3 new cameras individually, or at least split them up until the problem goes away. some cameras just dont like each other

Which DVR system will satisfy these requirements?

RG59 Siamese .. though if you are DIY cat5 with baluns may be easier. The camera question is a loaded question. First though, are you sure you need IR? -
ADATA APPOLO ZEUS8 (DAHUA) Forgotten password.

That fix must have been for old firmware, doesnt work for 2.606+ Besides the OP has bigger problems than that, the built in local admin user doesnt exist. -

Cant delete 888888 user on a Dahua DVR, it is a built in local admin that cannot be removed. You can however change the password. -

You will need to place them outside otherwise you can get glare from the IR and or the IR just wont perform at all. The only way it may work is if the glass of the camera is flush up against your window with no gap at all. Otherwise any CCTV camera will work with any DVR. As long as it is not an IP camera and it is a CCTV camera it will work, uses BNC connections. -

Easy, Dahua DVR and 2 Color IR cameras. Check AData for Dahua in the UK. 4-ch for $140 retail in the US (plus HDD). If you cant afford the HDD record to your computer over the network for now. not sure what 10m is but sounds more than the Cheap Color IR distance, want to go up a step or get the cheap color IR camera for now then upgrade as you can afford it. Cheap cameras are a dime a dozen so I wont get into that especially as you are in the UK and not this side, but check CNB and KT&C for mid range cameras, or try the chinese IR cameras with Sony Effio Chips (700TVL) which can be half the cost of the big brands for the same specs (less availability in most cases but okay for just a couple cameras). IR Distance are rarely what they say they are so always go over. If its just indoors then you likely dont need a TDN camera, just a color IR, even the cheap one can normally suffice especially for the Infrared distance as indoors you have alot of objects for the IR to reflect off, but higher res will help with quality. Outdoors is just much more difficult. And oh yeah forget wireless, you dont have the budget for good wireless and even then its only so so for indoor apps, especially if your walls are all brick. Your friend has no clue then. Good luck getting screwed by Provideo.

Speco IS OEM, KT&C is NOT OEM, KT&C is the Manufacturer from Korea, Speco Imports from Asia and just sticks their name on it. If anything KT&C is a name brand while Speco is the small player.

When I plug a decent analogue camera into a decent DVR and on a decent big LCD, I get a perfect picture. Every monitor differs and also the connection type from the DVR can make a difference. Eg. VGA from Dahua DVRs actually look better than the Composite output, back in the day it was the other way around and still is with some DVRs, also we use HDMI outputs now as well.
-
Maybe its just a crappy camera, or its your computer's video card/installed codecs.
-
Basically as they are a Korean Manufacturer some of their new cameras can take a few months to become available in the US. Also the actual part numbers at the retailers/distributors are slightly different from the ones on the manufacturers site in that they have alot of options. Search this one, it is a new 700TVL one but has lots of results. KPC-N501NU Older models KPC-N500 KPC-N700 and ofcourse one of their popular mini bullets KPC-VBN190NHWX
-
KT&C is on almost every CCTV retail and distributor site in the world LOL. They have been around for a long time and are major players in the middle of the range brand. We generally never buy CCTV gear from somewhere like Amazon, they just dont have what we need.
-
Ok whoops my bad then
-
Probably the same. Used Speco in the past but had issues with them so stopped using them. Have only used some of the mini KT&C bullets but have some of their 700TVL TDN IR Bullets on order.
-
I dont know that software but from the looks of it when you click Update it likely enables the options that are disabled so you can edit them, then probably click save to update it.

Yep, a client here who owns nightclubs, he just buys cheap USB flash drives in bulk when he is in the US and then gives them away to the cops with the video evidence on it .. although these days the cops normally have their own USB drives but many times they are full. Haven't had to burn a DVD for evidence sharing in a long time.
-
I would go for KT&C before Speco, cheaper in most cases and KT&C is the actual manufacturer yet sold by online retail stores in the US (as well as distributors). They have lots of bullets and domes, and 700TVL cameras.
-
Oh BTW, Im not disagreeing with you, I am certain it does look 100% better in that case. Also I recall Windows ME on $14,000 42" Plasmas .. needed a special video card just for that and still it was only like 640x480 ....

The difference of quality between the GE DVMRE DVR and other DVRs is also night and day. The GE DVMRe were good back in the day and they were around when there were no others (worth mentioning) .. but now its a whole different industry .. their network video is only very pixelized CIF to begin with, and thats what is used for evidence sharing. To get any decent video we used VCRs on the output of the CRT monitor as we played back the video, yes VCR. Thats all the courts used back then also, actually that was not too long ago maybe 8-10 years, but now its all USB and laptops. Regarding live video, analog converted to VGA back then was also pretty awful (those DVRs were great with CCTV CRTs which is what they were made for, but who wants those now), and still can be if using cheap VGA converters. The difference in quality in your case was moreso dependent on the monitor used. This forum is full of posts from people complaining of bad quality with the conversion to VGA from older DVRs, its as common as ground loops.

Posted an article here on how to set it up as well as how to create your own custom user/pass so no need to use admin, admin. Also shows how to stream that in Windows Media Player from VLC. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/articles/dahua-rtsp-stream.asp Could not get RTSP to work for any DVRs with 2.606 firmware though, only 2.608

Started looking at the Qvis Appollo HD Pro 4 and it is basically the same thing as the monoprice unit with only 7fps per channel per the specs or am i missing something? http://www.nellyssurplus.com/servlet/the-1559/Qvis-Apollo-HD-4/Detail You can buy their DVRs in any configuration, 4-16 channels with options of 7fps D1 (704x480) record each channel or 30fps D1 (704x480) record each channel, 32 channel at 7fps D1 record all channels - all the DVRs have real time display. 7fps is fine for most applications. They have units that hold up to 8 internal Drives for 16TB, and some with eSata for 12TB external.
