More Amps is fine, less is bad. So you are ok.

the 557's come with BNC output, dont know about the 3x. You have to order the power supplies separate.

There is a cleanup script in the file in this post. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=7608 Uninstall all Geo software first and delete folders (as the Cleanup script does). I suggest installing CCleaner and using the Issues tab to then clean the registry; also use the Cleaner tab. Next, uninstall the drivers. Goto the 8.1 Drivers folder, click on DrvInst.exe, and remove. [at this point you could also uninstall the codecs if you want, in Add Remove Programs - though should not be necessary] Restart the PC .. dont install the drivers when it asks, close the New Hardware Found window when it pops up on start up. Wait a few minutes until that has gone away. Goto the 8.1 Drivers folder, click on DrvInst.exe, and install. When it is installing don't click anything, the New Hardware Found window will go away by itself. Once they are installed, Restart the PC once again. Once it has restarted, verify the drivers are listed in the device manager without any errors, and they are the correct ones. If they are good, now Install Gv8.1. Restart when it has finished. Rory

8.01 upgraded to 8.02 Legit GV650 Card from a recognized Geo Distributor. It hasn't done it since those 2 times, but I fear it will again. Client hasn't given me the okay to pick it up and swap the hard drive as yet. But it still may not be that.

GE Security Analog Fixed Dome Beta Testers Wanted
rory replied to GECAMGUY's topic in Security Cameras
Well i can tell you I do like the DR Series. I made the mistake of trying a WizKid BW vandal dome last year, well the client bought 6 instead of just one and we got stuck with them... but he needs many more now to replace other cameras, and add some new ones to the same night club, as well as another night club he opened .. so those will more than likely be the DRs ..he also needs a Day Night in a couple spots but we are using the Sanyo up to now as the DR2000 from the specs, didnt seem to be a True Day Night? I prefer the DR's shape and mounting though, great for wall mount also. I had issues with the GE UltraView Box camera though .. that was a couple years now, has the chip improved yet? It was basically lighting problems where it didnt see much in low light even in a retail store .. used 6 of them then had to call it quits on those .. -
GE Security Analog Fixed Dome Beta Testers Wanted
rory replied to GECAMGUY's topic in Security Cameras
I can already tell you the DR(1?) series has survived several hurricanes and salt air ... one out on Paradise Island (Bahamas) .. the wall mount needs to be replaced though as it rusts ..the camera is still good though, after about 4 years directly on the north side of the island (salt air etc). Ive had a couple others up at another location and they have lasted also. Do they have a True Day Night version yet, also any Day Night WDR version yet? -
Never really been sold on NVR's...yet
rory replied to carrseom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well Geo has a ton of features for a DVR, but the thing is most people never use those features, and most people are actually looking for simpler products. Obviously the tech savvy person will want those features and more. Though I dont know how it is in the US, here just about all clients want simple plug and play, they dont even want to touch the PC or DVR .. a mouse? nope, if anything they'd prefer an IR Remote .. and just view live video, and call someone to deal with the evidence sharing if something should occur. Its nice to have a ton of features so you can use them when you need to, but if your clients never use them, let alone barely ever touch the DVR, then they dont need them. Perhaps Geo knows (thinks) they arent dealing with Government or It guys with alot of time on their hands .. and that might be why they dont add every other feature that can be added quite easily. there are however remote features that can easily be added which they did not, yet should be, one reason i made my own remote viewer .. which I could also add a ton more features too, and plan to .. but im a one man team .. PS. i still would like to see a list though, if only for ideas .. not for an argument between DVRs and NVRs . you can PM me them if you dont want to post here .. id like to see which ones are possible to add using the code i currently work with .. Thanks -
Can i use RG62 cable for cctv installations
rory replied to Kamei's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would suggest some RG59 solid center and copper braid .. That said, I did use RG6 aluminum years ago when i started out, and that video is still great to this day. I was probably just lucky though as ive seen others use it with horrible results.. -
Im pretty sure they answered your question Inspire. Basically use Direct Bury Cable, or put it in Conduit. Without that extra protection it can get damaged easier.
-
Id have thought he would make backups or just give them a copy, before taking the video to them .. never give the cops your only copy!
-
not yet ..still waiting for funds.

Ive deleted tons of spam posts from this user myself. Most of them were never seen by the other mods as it was one after the other non stop, in the middle of the night. When i say tons i mean more than 30 odd replicable posts all promoting the same website, scattered from one forum to the next; so many I actually lost count. I really wish people would read the rules when they sign up, though in this case i don't think it would have made a difference.

Zooms acting like varifocals...
rory replied to Karl in NY's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ask them what lens the camera takes, and buy the right one .. It may not work with an (old) C Mount lens regardless of advertising. I dont think the camera is cheap ... quality of the camera will depend on the quality of the lens.. if the lens is old it is best to replace it. How old are these lenses exactly? If it were 5 years or more older, id definitely change it. -
Yes i have, CenterV2 anyway, for a few months. We didn't have extra monitors to test though, so was just one monitor. See my thread on Hiding the CenterV2 Log also.
-
you will need to port forward: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287 Also, what network feature of Geo you use will depend on which ports you forward. If you need a list of all of them, please post a separate question in the GeoVision forum.

Never really been sold on NVR's...yet
rory replied to carrseom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This would be a good idea .. someone start the list already .. does it have to be a DVR system that "does" it now, or just whether a DVR system "could" do it .. ? -
Never really been sold on NVR's...yet
rory replied to carrseom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Why can't a DVR do that? Its still Windows ... its all just in the programming for Windows. If i was charging what NVR software developers do, I could easily create a virtual matrix myself for Geo as well as some others, even in VB ... now whether they do or not is another issue .. can is already solved -
They have a cheapo 32" LCD at the alarm monitoring company here running Center, and its great .. only thing is they don't have it set to wide screen .. which means you cant move or hide the log window. They didn't get me the model number yet to find out the native resolution, and as I didnt install it, is up to them to tell me when they want to deal with it. If you want a really good one maybe look at the Panasonic. Not sure how much better it will be though, the quality on this one here is great ... even not in native resolution, which is impressive. The pano may last longer and in the US you probably get a longer warranty. I was just looking at a Pano with a 10,000:1 contrast ratio online .. check it out. Most of the large LCDs have HDMI now anyway, so make sure you get a decent video card, maybe a 512 ATI or similar, with a DVI and use a DVI-HDMI cable .. does it help? cant say, but why not.

Own a Geovision card? Do yourself a favor, check out Livevue
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
good idea .. the full screen sequencer .. then it would use overlay. thanks Rory -
how about some screen recording software? or is this a long term thing? Ive had no real issues with a CRT TV, nor LCDs, so perhaps either switch it to an LCD, or use a TV as a second cloned monitor, and put the camera on that.
