  1. going by the specs though, the CAM66CIR is not a Day Night camera, its what we call a Color/IR camera, which is much different. Also it has a 6mm lens from what i could find on google .. he could actually get something like this from any OEM reseller for about the same cost. The Real Day Night bullets, that have Mechanical IR cut filters, varifocal lens, etc, will run around double the price retail. BTW, you can post images here if you like as well. Thanks Rory
  2. What is the brand and model of DVR?
  3. I dont think anyone would want to .. ive heard it is such a slower OS .. the cost of parts to build the DVR would make it too expensive to resell to clients, and to maintain the new OS .. that wont be ready for quite a while yet, ive heard it is much different.
  4. thanks, yes larry is checking into the link errors. Rory

Geovision Update 8.1 pulled for download

ive made an automated installation for it .. wonder what the legalities of posting the whole thing as a zip file on my site would be ..?
  6. No idea what CCTV or IP Video companies they are, but sure. I know what DishNet and DirectTV is, but that isn't related to CCTV.
  7. Ive seen other H.264 though and it also looks worst than Wavelet and Mpeg4. Noone has yet provided any demos that proves otherwise. Lots of talk though
  8. No idea, but thats the way it is. Ive seen other H2.64 DVRs also and the quality was much lower. For Remote video though it is fine.
  9. If its Geo, dont switch to H2.64, Geo's MPEG4 is better quality than its H2.64.
  10. switch it to 640x480, you should see a big difference.
  11. Well ill reiterate .. i was merely debunking the myths in the original article that was posted regarding how much "better" IP was over CCTV. However cctv_down_under did a much better job .. now if one still chooses to believe those myths, that is their rights.
  12. Well sure, but i was talking more in the area of workmen in the ceiling kind of thing, cat5 cable gets damaged all the time.
  13. right, the last one is DigiFlower .. Eclipse also uses them (or use to) http://www.digi-flower.com/ but its Korean ..

    Geovision gv-1480 dimension 9200

ok PC specs seem fine. I take it you are using onboard video? If so, upgrade to the latest Intel Graphics drivers from their site. When i said Focus, I was asking what did you focus them on? Did you use a CCTV CRT Spot Monitor, or just using the PC monitor, or something else? Are you using an LCD Monitor for the DVR, if so which type? So each camera has its own 12VDC power Supply? Note that if you dont have a CCTV CRT monitor then a 13" TV Will suffice, it will give you much better quality for focusing than using a VGA Monitor through the DVR and even more so than using an LCD.

    Geovision gv-1480 dimension 9200

Hi .. Need more specs .. Complete PC Specs. Power Supply/ies used and their Voltage Type Type of Cable Used How were the cameras focused #1 - Combo Cards like ATI. Though they also work with others. #2 - Did you verify the camera quality on a CCTV (spot) Monitor at the head end? Sounds like may just be an issue with the video overlay also.

  17. Remember im uising this for compact systems .. with and without an X300 Video card .. im going to try one .. if it sucks then Ill just sell the ones below .. but should be fine Id be using this for the larger systems with more drives .. http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=185&model=515&modelmenu=1 http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/directron_1929_777998513 with a Dual Core 3.4 and this one for the higher end system .. http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=307&model=1295&modelmenu=1 http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/directron/ds3141ssbk01.jpg with a Quad-Core CPU BX80562QX6700, 2.66 GHz, 8MB this is the one im looking at for the budget systems .. http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=865G%20Micro%20775 with a 15" LCD, 2.66 Celeron, i can get this under $400. Enough to run a GV650. And before anyone mentions it, that Biostar Mobo is alot better than the mobos found on most of the mainstream Dells, HPs, etc.
  18. thats the board Directron has .. i dont use New Egg. It has everything we need. Actually should be placing an order for a system over the next couple days. Rory

    Windows XP toolbar problem

if you're unsure .. also back up the registry first. Ive never personally had to do that, even with all the editing i do in the registry .. but anything is possible .. look for a program called CCleaner, it has an ISSUES tab which checks the registry for problems .. i use that on all PCs .. you can find it first result on google. Then there is tweakui which has the GUI for alot of the tweaks .. check download.com for that one.
  20. you can run the GV600 or 650 or even 800 for that matter, on much less of a motherboard .. so dont worry too much about it. I havent looked at all the specs on that other version mobo yet .. plus i never go by reviews,. because alot of the times there are other underlying causes for a problem which the user did not take into consideration. In fact, I have a 1120 running on a cheap MSI motherboard with not one issue , and an 800 with a 2.6 celleron, SIS chipset, and 256MB ram from a year and a half ago ... no issues once again. You are better off spurging on a decent UPS with Automatic Voltage Regulation. Without some form of voltage Regulation even the best mobo in the world could be rendered useless.

    Windows XP toolbar problem

BTW you should just drag an empty area. .. not the section with programs or the system tray. You shouldnt get any arrows .. it should just drag.

    Windows XP toolbar problem

well without being there .. but once it is unlocked it should just let you move it .. Switch theme to classic theme .. then back again .. better yet run my tweak program and tweak it .. then untweak it .. that will also refresh explorer and some other effects and features .. though its meant for XP so its up to you if you want to try it ... try disabling Active Desktop .. (not in my tweak yet) Disable Active Desktop [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoActiveDesktop"=dword:00000001 And there is another key in the registry you can delete incase it got corupted .. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StuckRects Right-click on the folder named StuckRects (StuckRects2 in later Windows) > Delete. When you restart Windows, the deleted key will be regenerated. lock taskbar - MAKE IT 1 to unlock it .. (not in my tweak yet either) [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "TaskbarSizeMove"=dword:00000000
  23. if its just local .. not needing to connect remotely .. then you can use a hub or swich .. just make sure they are all the same IP Range, as you have above (double check the DVR though), the same Subnet Mask, and the same gateway. then using a normal Network cable and the hub or switch, you should be able to connect. Also check that the port is in fact 80. If you want to connect from a remote location, then you will need a router or some form of routing device which at that point you would need to enable the port forwarding for the DVR also. Rory
