I cant see new added cameras on the main display

Hi, make sure they are enabled first in the Camera Enable Menu Item. Also there you can set the default display.
  2. if on a switch or router, you'll need to make the DVR's IP the same range. if connecting direct, it will still need to be the same range of the PC. see this post for more info. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3287
  3. never say never For the record (for the others) we currently do use IP for the DVRs ... just a different way. Also, I dont think anyone suggested that DVR users would never use IP Servers also. Nothing I was arguing was against using IP, but simply started the convo to debunk the myths provided in the original article. In fact, Geo has a web server now also. Nice thing is I can add a $34 bullet to it and use Geo's software to do offsite recording for that as well as other clients, so the client only needs the server and the cheap bullet, and they have recording at our central station. Course if the ISP goes down then the recording stops .. but they have a choice; add a DVR.
  4. I like the GE CyberDomes, i'd use them again.
  5. got this idea from someone on another forum who was tired of switching back and forth between Notepad and another program where he was copying and pasting from .. tedious work. I used mostly existing code from a desktop application i wrote a couple months ago, yet to be released. This exe uses a command switch to tell it what to open, and how. Basically it sets the program on top always while it is open, by getting the programs Unique handle and setting it On top with that handle. To keep it highlighted in the foreground however, would require a constant timer, this program doesn't use that and ends right away once it gets the Programs unique handle. It tries to get the programs handle for approx 5-10 secs, then exits. It works with the example programs below, and others I did not list, even programs in the system tray such as MSN Messenger and Skype. Basically you put the file somewhere, then create a shortcut. In the shortcut properties you enter the Command Switch at the end of the Target line. If you have questions or comments .. let me know. Note if there is no Command switch added, it will just exit (do nothing). Eg. 'TITLE | CLASS | FILE | MIN/MAX | WILDCARD OFF Title = Window Title of Program. If using wildcard, leave last part empty or make 0 Class = Class of Program. You can use both Title & Class, but Wildcard is disabled File = Full Path of Program File Min/Max = 1-Normal, 2-Minimized, 3-Maximized. If left empty it will be Normal. Wildcard Off = 8 will make it use fixed Title. Anything else will make it a wildcard if only Title is used. Wildcard means it is not exact, it is LIKE // NOTEPAD - WildCard, Normal "C:\OTE.exe" Notepad||C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe // WORD - WildCard, Max "C:\OTE.exe" Microsoft Word||C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE|3 // FireFox - WildCard, Max "C:\OTE.exe" Mozilla Firefox||C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe|3 // MS PAINT - Fixed Class and Title, Max "C:\OTE.exe" Paint|MSPaintApp|C:\Windows\System32\mspaint.exe|3|3 //Calc - WildCard, Normal "C:\OTE.exe" Calculator||C:\Windows\System32\calc.exe|1 //Outlook Express - Fixed Class, Normal "C:\OTE.exe" |Outlook Express Browser Class|C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe|1 //Skype - WildCard, Normal "C:\OTE.exe" Skype||C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe|1 You can use Spy+ or some other program to get the class of the program's main window, but if you get stuck let me know the program and ill give you the command for it. They will generally all vary as to which method you can use to open them Download: (24KB) No Installation Required. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/dl/?q=OTE.exe
  6. the GV800 is a total of 120fps in live or record view. However Ive found the VGA Live display to be better on the GV800. But the DSP output is like analogue so on a CCTV Monitor or TV it is much clearer for live video than any VGA (LCD or CRT).
  7. http://www.directron.com/p5lmx.html looks like a good choice. is 1gb of ram enough and can I simply use the onboard video. Read people had success with onboard video yep .. with this case http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/directron_1929_557119746 Note im going for size now .. last few jobs it had to be micro cases .. the large cases just wouldnt fit ... in fact the last one i did, I gutted an Emachine case just for the DVR ..
  8. and the board I used in that case was a cheaper MSI 865 Chipset Mobo also .. still had the Intel 950 video and after updates it was great.
  9. Would this work with a gv-1120 6 camera system? Getting 1 gig of ram and 3.2 intel processor. Also would it need any additional video cards or I can just use the one on board (if so whats the cheapest nvidia card I can go with). I am sorry for so many questions but im really stumped on choosing the perfect motherboard. Thanks!! Ive built a 1120-16 channel system with 512DDR2 and a 3.2GHZ P4 5xx Ran Perfect. Actually used on board video, but then I added an X300 ATI Card anyway, though didn't notice any difference.
  10. this is what Im going to be using next .. for a micro case version. http://www.directron.com/p5lmx.html and then this one for the full server version http://www.directron.com/p5bdeluxemb.html

    IE 7 jumping

me or him? I dont .. i stopped developing for browsers a while ago .. but i did play with Javascript image push .. which works but speed and quality of video doesnt match activeX, nor does Java .. nor do the features available .. but then ActiveX is a security risk in IE and still you are downloading and installing something on the users PC .. so you may as well just download a client Application with more features and less chance of it not working due to IE registry mess ups or security settings.
  12. Geo Cards, or the software rather, love ATI chipsets ..
  13. Quick question, which DVRs have you had experience with? BTW, it's not called analogue, its CCTV, it can be a mix of Digital and analogue.

    GV-1240 Power rating

Seeing as Geo has it in a mini case with a 200watt PSU, it cant be much more than a regular video card. Ive never found any actual specs on that though.
  15. Ive had problems with GA motherboards recently, id get an MSI or ASus. Also, look at the ATI cards instead .. doesnt have to be ATI, just the ATI chipset. Though NVidia should work .. had a card before which didnt work with Geo. Memory is fine, in fact gV800 will work with 256MB, 512MB+ preferred. Never used the Pentium D with Geo, cant say. Though used the P4 5xx series (with HT) that worked great.

    Binary Cracked -2(2)

no, they're online form has all kinds of questions, such as Card serial number, which i dont have .. as its in the PC at the location .. Ive emailed them in the past though and never received a response.
  18. yeah i fell out the attic before from heatstroke .. also i got 2 scars on my head from where nails went through, and down here there are no codes enforced so i got shocked more than once from open electric boxes. Needless to say i never go in attics anymore.

    Can't connect to server

make sure they are port forwarded in the router. If you dont have admin access to this then its going to be hard. make sure either windows firewall has those ports added in, or it is disabled. once all that is verified, see if you can telnet to each port individually, from a remote location. Also make sure you are connecting to the correct IP address, and the router is forwarding the ports to the correct PC. And make sure the Geo has a local Static TCP/IP setting. It sounds like they didnt forward one or more ports in the router/firewall.

    Cabling Estimates

about that first cost .. but it cost me $500 time as it reaches here ..

    Cabling Estimates

yeah the rolls of Siamese are very heavy, especially the 1000' rolls .. the cost is huge to ship them here, luckily a colleague brings them in bulk to resell to other installers, so keeps the cost down some ..

    Cabling Estimates

yeah, if you are running multiple runs .. and they're less than the length of the roll, you gotta pull off the lengths required from the roll. Dont know if thats what he meant by uncoil or not though .. as 5 minutes seems pretty quick ..

forgot admin password in GV system

You can reset the Geo passwords (when the user didnt select Allow Password Removal), at least I know how to do it on version 7.05 and earlier.
