    Ip Encoders

I agree, and Encoders arent exactly cheap, then there is the NVR software cost etc etc.

    where to buy Power Supplies?

Thats just an adapter for the camera's power plug to regular cctv power cable such as 18AWG (or cat5 if you use that). Has nothing to do with power over ethernet, it just saves you cutting the plug off and splicing them together.
  6. Yes you can typically run 2 cameras off 1 transformer as long as it can handle the power, but sometimes if they arent the same exact camera you might run into problems. Its best to use 2 separate transformers. I would normally just get a 4 channel fused Power Supply box, but its up to you, either will work.
  7. I just hate to see people struggling when there is no need to be.
  8. Rory, I don't know what's going on in your life, but you have become increasingly rude and provocative. You used to be helpful and generous (look all the Geovision software you developed and gave away). Not so much anymore. Excuse me????????? Like I said, all the more reason to use a REAL operating system. Sorry you have an issue with that, its not being rude, just telling it like I see it. And BTW I still give tons of software away for free, for WINDOWS ofcourse. I release a new program every other day now.
  9. all the more reason to use a real operating system.
  10. Geovision, CNB, Vivotek, or Dahua. Free NVR software included.
  11. Congrats! Now to make sure you have the older firmware incase you want to go back .. you did save it right? LOL just kidding. Since we are certain of the model now, I have the last working 2.606 for that DVR incase you do wish to return to it. Infact the last few 2.606 versions took care of that flickering in 9 way view. LE-A model is pretty much the standard Dahua DVR and can always get firmware updates to that. The support for that DVR model is literally unlimited.
  12. I cant edit that post so will just update it in this new post: Regarding Msiexec.exe, it will only reload the default installation files if you use the shortcuts that are built during installation, which are based off of Msiexec. For example, when I do my Custom Skins for PSS I replace those shortcuts with direct shortcuts to the PSS executable and therefore even if Msiexec.exe exists in the PSS path it will never be used.
  13. Being playing around with this quite a bit yesterday. I understand the first paragraph, but i'm lost on the second! I have found the easiest way that works everytime on Vista and Win7 is to copy your edited files and paste them direct in relevant folder with copy and replace option (overwrite existing files). The original shortcut works this way to. I found if i deleted the contents of the original folder first and then pasted custom files in it would go off and "reinstall" when running original shortcut as you mention. BTW you don't happen to know how i can get PSS to open to the "Switch" size. It opens up to max and doesn't remember the resize. With Windows Vista/7, PSS will load the skins, data, and config from the default install path. Eg. [PROGRAM FILES]\Pro Surveillance System(EN) [PROGRAM FILES X86]\Pro Surveillance System(EN) If you make any changes or want to customize it using a program (eg adding a device within PSS) then it will use the following location, this is where the config and data files modified by PSS will be stored and loaded from, the ones in the default install path will therefore not be used: [LOCAL APP DATA]\VirtualStore\Program Files\Pro Surveillance System(EN) [LOCAL APP DATA]\VirtualStore\Program Files(x86)\Pro Surveillance System(EN) Otherwise for a program to update the files in the default install paths, it needs to raise the privilege to admin, or it cannot copy or delete anything etc. Obviously programmers dont want to bug the user all the time asking them to give privilege to do something, so they will simply save the new configuration to the user data paths instead and check for that anytime they need it. Since the program (PSS) is first and foremost designed to work for XP first it will also work if the config and data files are customized inside the default install path. With PSS on all Windows OS, Msiexec.exe is installed to the default install path, if you make certain changes it will reload the default install configuration, replacing files. With XP most users run as admin so we can delete that file easily, but it means asking permission if using Vista or Windows 7 since it is located in the program files path. When you MANUALLY copy, delete, or replace files you already have privilege to do so, if anything it might ask you but otherwise there will not be the same restrictions as doing it within a program or script. I have a program on my site I wrote that will open PSS to full screen, but not switch size. If interested I could make one that does that and just call it a different name, or modify the existing Full Screen EXE to do that as an option, nobody ever asked before, PM me if you like.
  14. I've used the big "American" brands, now using the Dahua (chinese) also supplied by "American" brands, runs just as good as the others for alot cheaper (summer to summer in the Caribbean without A/C most the time in intense heat). Firmware and software updates are regular (any software requires bug fixes and updates) including added features. Tech support has been better than that of the big "American" brands I have used. This chinese DVR just keeps going and going and .. you dont always get what you pay for. And BTW we have worse power than in the US, in fact we have some of the worse in the world, with blackouts every other day and brownouts and surges all day long .. $2000 bosch cameras die in 3 days .. this sucker just keeps going, its a work machine and costs next to nothing. This has the same PSU the big "American" brand has but at 1/10th the cost .. this is no less commercial grade than any of the ones you mentioned. Dont believe the hype. Almost everything you use is made in China these days.
  15. then you can drag the timeline over motion or regular record (yellow/green). and drag by hour or minutes.
  16. alternatively you can use sort by time and for example it would list a single record from 12am-11.59pm.
  17. its a limit, it wont list all files, you would need to adjust the start time.

    Good Source for Raymax Illuminators?

As to Raymax, to be fair my only experience with them was the visible LED, that was disappointing and I would never waste a clients money on that again I cant speak for their Infrared Illuminators.
  19. BTW those are the specs from Intellicam, not from Dahua who is the actual manufacturer. Dahua has no DVR that only records CIF on all channels. I know of that feature with real time D1 on some channels with CIF on the rest but that is useless to me. However there are still DVRs that do this, D1 on a main channel and only CIF on the rest, Indigo/CNB is one of them which I had the displeasure of having to backup video from last week - miraculously still were able to ID the suspect on the CIF channel and he was captured by the cops, odds of the ID was 300,000 to 1 so they cant count on that happening again - the robbers custom haircut gave him away in this case, I suppose being a gansta with a pimpin braid design was more important to him.
  20. Those specs are incomplete. It should be: The 1st and 9th video channel can support max D1(4CIF) realtime recording and other channels can support CIF realtime recording, or 7fps D1(4CIF) every channel. Full specs here: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/cctv-products/cctv-dvrs/16ch-hdmi-dvr.asp His link http://discountedcctv.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_2&products_id=84 info from his link ..... For people who can read and understand tech specs

    Good Source for Raymax Illuminators?

I would still say Bosh Extreme/Derwent is the MAC DADDY for IR. But hey what do I know (only 10 years of 99.9% Day Night IR apps)
