yeah the layout tab only lets you set it to floating .. then when you exit and restart the program you can resize it manually with your mouse, however it doesnt stay resized next time you run the program.

What about the speed issues with USB .. compared to internal drives, any issues?

Insurance requirment for off-site video recording?

no idea, but where are you going to monitor/store the video, do you have a CMS? -
use your ISP's SMTP server instead.

not bad .. one thing though with the EX-82's from Extreme (all in one IR Camera), ive had some at a clients home now, 6 years going strong .. IR LEDs still seem to all be okay also (10 year lifetime approx). But they cost $$

so far the only downside i see is they dont have an SDK (according to one of their reps that is on this forum), but i wonder if there are any public procedures in the ActiveX that can be utilized ... anyone got a demo link to an online site using the ActiveX, that I can take a look at?

I wonder if you can copy the image to another DOM that can be locked .. but first setup all the IP info, etc .. unless they set the page file to the DOM and not the attached HDDs? Course if you have that kind of control, you could always move all the locations of files that are constantly changed .. but then Avermedia software itself may write changes (settings) to the DOM so that would not work ...
-
well that or a DVD, VCR, etc, output .. you just want some composite video out to plug into the card.
-
if you have a TV ... loop the RCA TV Output into the DVR Camera input ..
-
Doubt its a software issue, its not the easiest software to work with .. but last i checked it worked .. after some headaches. Did you reboot the PC after you connected the camera ..? If not try that, then go into setup and disable, then enable again ..

Avermedia or GeoVision?
rory replied to Helheim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hey .. 3.2Ghz P4 800FSB, Asus Radeon EAX300 PCIE, MSI Full Mobo (Intel Chipset) with PCIE and DDR2 667Mhz 512 .. (Edit): Hanns·G JC-199D / 19" / 8ms / 700:1 / SXGA 1280 x 1024 / DVI·D / Black / LCD Monitor Quality just isnt as clear as previous experiences with the GV800 on cheaper mobos and 64MB AGP cheap video cards .. its fine on playback and also on the DSP out though. Cant use the DSP feature in the software though as then the quality drops considerably due to the Direct Draw overlay being disabled on the VGA when the DSP feature is enabled .. but im just using the output to clone the video to the TV so no issues there. -
sounds more like a hard drive problem .. or video drivers .. i would go the easy route first .. video card .. get rid of it .. if its a recent chipset it should be enough video to run the Geo, thats if the mobo has onboard video? mother boards and hard drives are around the same cost so thats up to you which one you want to try first. What kind of Power Supply are you using also?
-
first make sure the setting is correct, NTSC or PAL .. you arent getting any video right? Also, then enable the camera .. you wont get a picture until you go into setup and enable the camera probably.
-
with the Pico cards, thats it .. there are some settings needed such as turning off using the recycle bin, and setting up the cameras, by default they wont start recording. Also the screen resolution is only 800x600 last one i saw .. thats how old the version of the software was that Pico teifed. . LOL ..
-
cheap way first, take out the video card and use onboard video. Download the latest drivers from ATI's website. If it still does it, then you can rule out the video card. It could still be a bad hard drive, or even memory stick. Other than that, there are other things like the Power supply. Id try that before swapping the mobo, if you have any of those lying around. When you say crash, is it just geo causing an error, or the whole system crashes?
-
guys Pico is pirated software, stolen from earlier versions of another card's software.
-
Yep thats what I saw recently with the 1120 .. i need to take another look at the 1480 i did before, as that one didnt seem as bad ..

Avermedia or GeoVision?
rory replied to Helheim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yeah i dont want to use the combo cards anymore, the VGA quality just isnt there .. and other issues .. is the avermedia a better choice? I know Geo has the Hardware compression cards now, but the price is really high for 16 cameras .. -
Ive never heard of a GV200 .. there is a GV250 though. If its that old that there once was a GV200, the newer GV250 is so cheap it would be worth buying one of them, even if it is used.
-
What DVR is it, and do you have the card yet? It should come with software on a CD.
-
Stand Alone DVRs to LCD, the image quality will not be anywhere as good as PC DVRs to LCD. But it also will depend on the DVR used, how much better the quality will be. Typically the embedded units would have a Composite to VGA convertor built in to have that VGA out port.
-
I dont think im using the Combo cards anymore .. just not as nice as the GV800.

Looks like one of those that is color during the day and BW at night, with IR ligthing. I'm no expert, but I have never seen a color IR image. It's always B&W. I would mount it outdoors, not pointing through a window. they arent True Day Night cameras, so they are not as sensitive to IR, nor without IR are they as sensitive in low light. They are color cameras typically (with high lux levels in most cases - not good for low light color) and they remove the chroma digitally (so it is more sensitive to IR than in full color mode), there is no mechanical IR filter of any kind, as that would, well bring the cost up. Without an IR cut filter, it always picks up IR, including that from the Sun, this is why they have messed up colors, though indoors you will not notice it as much as outdoors, also due to having more colors outdoor such as green (from Bushes, Trees, etc). I'm not a CCTV camera engineer, and this is just a rough idea from what I've been told by a couple manufacturers. However they do it, basically Color IR cameras are not as sensitive in low light as a True day Night camera, and colors will be affected, if used outdoors especially. BTW, the reseller doesnt appear to have any CCTV knowledge, as they claim: "Camera Shot: 1/3 and 1/4 picture sensors"
