  1. I think it would be a good idea for all manufacturers to move away from soley relying on Windows, but we (Installers) will also need to learn Linux to be able to maintain the systems as we do with Windows based versions ..
  2. Anyone that does hardware compression will do 30fps on all channels .. its the software compression that doesnt .. but Geo will do 120fps+ with the 1480 in D1. They also have the Hardware compression cards now, and Avermedia has them also.
  3. $40-80 .. the 1000va UPS W AVR Triplites can be had for around $80
  4. actually you dont even need Tweakui .. you can manually set that in the registry ... under Local Machine, Software, Microsoft, Windows NT, Current Version, WinLogin ... look for DefaultUsername. Make that your user name. then AutoAdminLogonm change to 1.
  5. http://www.difinitron.com/vm417.html If so .. any idea how it compares to the FM Systems Camera master ...? Basically .. how does the focus meter part pan out? And cost wise... thanks Rory
  6. Yeah we dont get those rebates also .. when the product dies here it just gets chucked and we buy a new one ... unless its under warranty and cost alot .. Yep I dont have a UPS myself .. ive had the same Triplite Voltage Regulator from 1996 .. now that thing rocks! Dont know about the UPSs though ... but 10 years for a Voltage Regulator is greeaat PS. that $140 here is $40 in the US ...
  7. these i have here, which have AVR built in .. well only cost $140 in the Bahamas, so much cheaper in the US .. dont know about the UK .. but for that price they can be replaced easily ..

    Anyone used this ?

What would be nice too .. maybe you can pass this on .. a small LCD for positioning .. built into the meter .. also .. Windows software version .. so people that might not be able to order the meter for some reason or another, could use a Laptop .. thanks Rory
  9. the GV-1120, 1240 and 1480 do live display. I dont know Avermedia so cant comment on those.

  11. If you can write a VB exe .. you can move the window through the software .. i think .. I had it on my 1400x screen also .. it stays in the left .. there is no title bar though, i think.
  12. ive got 7.04 but it will only work with a legit card, would need to double check first by taking a photo of the card and posting it here. That said cant be 100% it will work still, may have to check with a distributor on the version numbers and which versions work with what. I did upgrade a V6.0 version before to the 7.0 and that card used a dongle .. so maybe good.
  13. Only tip I can give you is to buy a new one .. i dont have any problems with these 600VA ones we have ... they work right out of the box .. after connecting the red lead ofcourse.

    Car burgulars cought on camera

Cops there in 12 minutes ... darn .. when we call them here we're lucky if they ever turn up at all .. if anything we dont expect to see them within 1 hour ... after dark here they lock themselves down and play dominos all night ..
  16. If so .. how is it, any problems, also how is the VGA out quality on the LCD? http://www.nuvico.com/product_detail.asp?strCategoryCD=DC001&strModel=&prod_cd=NP0007&Page=1 Any admin functions for optional maintenance, repairs, etc:? thanks Rory

    GV-1480 DirectDraw & Video Issue

The webcam settings thing is normal .. well as far as it goes .. it seems like it should save it but it doesnt .. have to do that when you start Webcam server.

    GV-1480 DirectDraw & Video Issue

Yeah if you turn off Direct Draw overlay you will get that lower quality, wioth jagged edges .. though there are jagged edges with most PC DVRs in live view on the VGA anyway .. so also check your recording as that is normally better than the live view, with the Combo cards. Are you also using the Spot Monitor Feature?

    Car burgulars cought on camera

Wow .. watch out chasing them down though, never know if they have a weapon or not .. but yeah if I saw someone trying to steal my jeep id most likely be out there too .. though course i dont leave my front door without a machete at least .. Did the Cops come that quick .. ? Or was there a time difference? Also is that on a DVR or VCR? PS. here or the General Discussion, or Test Bench forum are fine ... no where here to actually host the video files though. Rory
  21. I havent used them, but there are many examples on the internet .. last time i checked it was very easy.

    GV-1480 DirectDraw & Video Issue

With that Video card, you dont need to make any changes in the ATI software for Geo to work ... can you uninstall the ATI software and drivers and Reinstall, leave all settings default and see what it does then. Hardware Acceleration should be set to Full by Default, on win XP at least. Windows Server 2003 may be an issue, not sure how well supported it is by Geo. You may need to contact them direct regarding that. If you have XP i would suggest installing that instead, tried and proven for the GV Cards.

    Remote view does not start

So this isnt a GeoVision DVR Card? Let me know so I can move the thread to the general PC Card forum for more exposure. I have got that error with some cheaper more poorly written software. Without knowing what DVR it is, hard to tell, need to know that first. Also where it was purchased (eg. Distributor, Online Retailer, Ebay, etc, and Country Location of Reseller). Then I could ask you to email me the HTML source code to see what that line 1237 is doing .. to see what the actual issue is .. might be old javascript or the ActiveX Control might be old, such as only designed for Windows 98.

    GV-1480 Combo card De-Interlaced problem

That doesnt look right. Have you switched the Source to Deinterlace mode?
  25. Me neither .. i could barely manage 30 channels of remote video at 320x240 (at lower frame rates due to network) all at once on a test PC (in my remote software) which had 3GHz P4 with 1GB DDR and a 256 PCI Express ATI Card .. CPU was running almost 100% .. lets not mention the memory .. now imagine 640x480 ..
