Yet another guy peddling CCTV stuff!

    Welcome to the forum ..
  5. I have the EAX300 with the Asus drivers installed .. but the Video doesnt appear as it should (i dont have the PC here to test on at the moment). This is with a Gv1120 combo card .. Ive used the Combo before but it came preloaded .. and was the GV1480 .. never had an issue with that .. the LCD monitor is very clear though .. and this is not the normal LCD lower quality issue either .. Basically the DVR is not on the network yet .. but I get little speckles like dots in the images .. im going to do some stuff with the cameras on Monday, like take off Flickerless mode, and any other adjustments .. do 1 camera at a time on the DVR and see if there isnt a cable issue (some of the cameras are using existing cabling which was RG6 - not my choice) but on the new cable runs .. same thing. Anyway just wondering if anyone has an idea if updating to the latest ATI Drivers for the X300 Radeon would work better .. even though this is an Asus Card ..? Thanks Rory
  6. LOL yeah i should have posted back to this thread .. it did work .. thanks Rory
  7. Welcome .. its a fun "game" I would really swap that for an Intel Chipset and CPU .. doesnt have to be an Intel Motherboard, just have the intel Chipset .. so you can run the "better" cards. If not you will be kind of stuck with the lower end pro cards .. like the generic 30fps ones. Ram, HDDs, and Video seem more than adequate. There can be 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16 channel boards ... the general ones available throughout the ranges are 4, 8, 16. Do you mean Real Time motion Video, or Continuous (all the time) record? For 4 cameras to do "real time" (30fps per camera) you would need 120fps just for those .. most cards also use Smart Motion Detection where the fps is divided among the active cameras .. so if you have 2 cameras with motion on a 4 channel 30fps card, then they are getting 15fps each, as soon as the other 2 pick up motion, it goes down to 7.5fps each, and as soon as one of them stop recording motion, the other 3 would go up to 10fps each ... just an example, it will vary from card to card as to what they call this feature, but most pro DVRs have this. Essentially to get full 30fps Real Time Motion Video Recorded on each channel, or even just 4 channels with slower recording on the other 2, you would need acard that records in 240fps .. in High Res (640x480 or 720x480) and this will vary between card manufacturers. Most specs, especially the software compression cards, will quote their recording speed in 320x240 or 320x252 - low resolution. So basically will need to check the detailed specs on them to find out which card will work. Most Hardware compression cards will do it in high res, and actually they will say that clear as day normally, as thats their claim for fame, so to speak. Lots of brands, many have hardware compression now also. I would however just stick with Mpeg4 over H.264, for higher quality. You have 750GB so space is not a real issue. You would need to verify though the first paragraph above, if that IS real time motion video on each camera, or if that is continous (all the time record) and then Motion Record .. both methods have nothing to do with the actual recorded speeds though - that is another setting. Typically you can set up each camera individually with different settings, including but not limited to Scheduled Recording and options for either Continous or Motion Record. I was quoting NTSC so excuse me there. . But basically you can get a good idea by searching this forum as to which Cards are popular .. also there are many other DVR card companies not neccassarily mentioned as much, that doesnt mean they arent as good, so dont be afraid to test a new product. Otherwise .. ask some more questions and check around .. should get it soughted out .. Rory

    RG59 extensions

my connection here at my own place .. right on the beach front .. been exposed now for 4 years .. just tape on and off .. still works
  9. Seems like maybe a DVR issue .. did you try switching the port ... put camera 5 on a different input on the DVR .. that amount of light you have there should not cause an issue. Also, are you using 12VDC or 24VAC? Also, Can you run a temporary Coax direct out to that camera location and seewhat it gives .. or just plug in a monitor right to the camera ... I Really doubt its that one camera is better than the other .. my $50 color bullet has a better image than that even with full sunlight right at it.

yep i do everything he said above .. except the solder part .. should do the solder but anyway center to center, braid to braid .. tape it up .. easiest way.

    Remote view does not start

What software are you using? Is this in the browser? Also are all ports opened and what are the OS and browser you are using on these PCs? Rory
  13. LOL .. but yeah who needs a phone in Paradise ...

    What do you guys use?

LOL ... no doubt they do .. good luck ..
  15. rory

    What do you guys use?

yeah thats the new one ... i use the old one .. i like it better .. liteweight and all
  16. rory

    What do you guys use?

i use the old version of CamStudio .. was freeware .. works well .. there are many others now also .. but i still like the ease of that one .. they also have a newer version that is not freeware.
  17. Also .. i think we should (distributors, etc) at least be able to get firmware updates from Geo to flash the cards ourselves ..
  18. LOL .. number 7 got me dizzy ... Maybe do what Isaac said .. take 3 or 5 (using his numbers) and put in place of 4 .. as those cameras seem fine .. Also, try switching the cameras on the DVR itself .. see if that makes a diff .. im sure the DM has an AGC control built into the software so perhaps check that also ..
  19. But then look at what a new card costs .. not really much .. when you compare it to buying a new standalone from GE or Bosch, etc .. like 501 said .. most clients are happy once it is running good .. I made some tweaks for the pre 8.0's if you want to at least change the GUI to "look" like better .. and a couple other things .. As for the OS .. just make sure you keep your XP CD in a good secure place .. Id also like to see the Card that's doing 64 cameras in real time High Resolution Live and Playback (640x480 or greater), or better yet I'd really like to see the PC that is doing that .... its gotta take up a whole room or something ... Honestly IMO H.264 quality is not great .. but I would like to be proven wrong .. maybe the DVR's I have seen with it just werent using the perfect H.264 .. As to 16 cameras in Real Time ... Geo has the hardware compression out now .. 2x 8 channel cards .. 16 channels real time in high res .. Live and playback .. according to them at least ..
  20. Not sure, but not with Geo .. you will need at least an SIS or Intel for the GV800-4 ..
  21. Glare and Lightwise it looks better .. Out of 8 Day Night IR Bullets I got here, I also had 1 that has the Iris open too much .. same issue but wasnt as bright .. I guess the Factories just mess up sometimes ..
  22. doesnt look normal. suggest adjusting the AI level .. we have tons of sunlight here and never see a camera look like that unless the AI level was not adjusted or it had SAGC turned on.

    Lightning and metal building

Make sure they invest in at least a Voltage Regulator .. with most UPSs these days you would want to find one that has AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation) also search the forum for AVR or Voltage Regulator
