As I came across this technology in 2 Micro ATX Motherboards, a GigaByte and an MSI, and my PCI Express x16 did not work in either, i was "forced" to do some minor research. Onboard video has definately improved. These are the 2 Micro ATX Motherboards i used. http://tw.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ClassValue=Motherboard&ProductID=2304&ProductName=GA-8I945GZME-RH http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=915GVM3-V&class=mb So actually, I installed an MSI GeForce 6200 64MB Video card (with Turbo Cache) in both, and it worked, but could only get blue video screens with Geo. So I took out the card and used the onboard video (with the MSI), the Intel 950 with the latest updates. Amazingly it actually performed the same, and almost better. The whole system felt faster, could it be due to the DDR2 Memory Modules compared to DDR, probably not, possibly just the newer Intel Technology, but either way it worked with a Geo Vision GV-1120-16 overnight testing, without failure. I haven't tested on the GigaByte Board yet, but its the same technology. In fact, this is found on many other motherboards now. Here is a review of the same GigaByte motherboard I have, and the page linked has a decent explanation on this Intel 950. http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rid=131949 Also, it notes that the PCI Express on this particular motherboard runs at 4x, and in fact the MSI version also does this, yet this is not mentioned on the Retailers sites where the Motherboards are listed. So before purchasing a MicroATX board to be used with a seperate PCI Express Video card, check the manufacturer's site of the Board and the Card, to make sure they will work together. The Video Card manufacturer should have a message or other information posted in their specs if it only does the full 16x, such as the example in this Asus PCI Express Card (the one I had) - http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=2&l2=8&l3=0&model=399&modelmenu=1. And in the case of the MSI Motherboard, it actually said it only does 4x on the PCI Express slot .. ofcourse being new to PCI Express technology I didnt know to even check this out before i made the purchase, and it did not say this on the box. Bottom line is when dealing with Micro ATX boards and PCI Express for the first time, read all the manuals and reviews before you buy the products. Maybe this post will save someone else from the extra expense I was forced to spend on additional Motherboards and Video cards. And in case anyone is asking why the cheapo Motherboard (?), well that is basically double the price time as it lands here, so its not exactly cheap anymore .. yep .. a $150 motherboard is essentially a $350 Motherboard here after Shipping and Customs. So we have to cut costs on certain systems especially if they dont require the ultimate PC, and moreso with the small CCTV Market we have here. Rory

Hey Issac .. while we're on UPSs .. see if you can tell which one this is .. Sine or Wave .. please .. thanks .. these are the ones we get down here .. they have AVR built in also .. http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=BE600-LM&tab=models&total_watts=200

that looks like a video cable issue .. change the baluns and should be good to go .. you get that when you run cameras on telco or cat5 without baluns ... so probably bad baluns or they only go so far ... course could be power related also but since they are using cat5 id check that as well.

Can you do 4 of those cards? I only see 2x8 cards in the manual .. but yeah even with the 2 of them that would be a rough system .. hardware compression so higher quality .. and faster speeds. -

regular cutters .. same old ones ive had from my alarm days .. oh yeah and if I dont have them on me .. teeth or whatever else i can find .. -
It has to be the Video Card .. i had the same thing a couple days ago with a 6200 and the 1120 .. switched it to onboard video and worked fine then .. in fact the onboard video was better than that video card .. which I took back and got a credit for as I changed the mobo for a full atx and used the ATI EAX300 Video card I originally had that didnt work in 2 different MATX boards ... but yeah .. take the card out and use the onboard video, or change the card .. only resolution I could get myself.

is that a real job photo? If so darn!!

Im not aware of anyone cloning IView cards ... they arent as popular as Anykeeper, Kodicom, and Geo .. Did the cards look different? There were some canadian guys selling Iview cards at a lower price on Ebay last year ... not sure if they still are though. -
Normally you dont double up the video with UTP Transmission ... Rory

could also be becuase they are used .. maybe bad chips ... overtime the chips go bad anyway .. nothing like a new camera to save the day

Problem with Webcam / Internet Explorer 7.0 & Windows Vi
rory replied to RichTJ99's topic in Geovision
using a beta OS .. dont expect it to work great Plus arent they improving security in Vista .. maybe thats the issue .. as it cant talk to the kermel or something . .. maybe only certain things work .. like if the ActiveX is made by Microsoft ... Also, IE7 isnt a tested IE browser for webcam. -
thanks .. so essentially I should be able to do the general DVRs with the MSI Mobos .. they are easy to get down here also incase i need a replacement ... And do the others with the Asus more higher end boards .. Funny thing is I just ended up using the MSI MTAX board today without an external video card and it works great with the GV1120 and 8 cameras .. i guess the DDR2 makes the difference plus the intel onboard graphics. What sucks is now I have 2 video cards and a Motherboard that arent compatible, and im out of pocket an extra $300 Guess ill just see if I can sell them as part of a regular home PC or something .. One thing though learned from all this, PCI Express really isnt ready yet, or better yet the Mother board manu's arent quite up to speed .. . I havent given up on PCI Express though, I just now know I need to read the entire Motherboard manual first before I buy it, to make sure a certain card works with it ..

Anyone ever get a brand new mobo and PCI Express card, where the card wont be recognised at all? Brand new out the box .. mobo doesnt see it at all .. its an Asus PCIE X300 .. mobo is a Gigabyte with DDR2 etc .. Sees the Geo card ... Also, the onboard video only does 8Mb! It says cabable of 128MB but I dont see any settings anywhere for it .. Any ideas? Lastly .. CPU Clock Speed says 200Mhz in the bios Information part, but the CPU is a P4 3.2Ghz 800FSB, 1MB .. is 200Mhz normal? Thanks Rory

"In surveillance the main priority should be reliability. Embedded technology has the edge over PC-based DVRs when it comes to reliability. The core reason, is the embedded operating software is dedicated to managing video, where PC-based operating systems handle multiple processes simultaneously, potentially causing a higher level of failure. With PC-based systems an operator may be required to operate a system that is beyond his IT expertise. However, embedded technology allows for much easier operation and is more user-friendly, leaving more time for the operator to fulfil his job description with greater ease and functionality. Management on the other hand have the full flexibility of a graphical user interface."

NEED HELP CHOOSING DVR/DVRCARD NEED 32CH 920fps
rory replied to badbeats310's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I would go 2x 16 channel .. in fact if you want real time on each channel in D1 with any DVR then you will need Hardware Compression (geo has an 8 channel hardware compression card coming end of the month, x2 would be 16 channels). Also, you can have just 1 IP from your ISP but using a router you can assign a different port to each DVR .. -
http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusiness/DisplayResource?m=10001&sm=0&p=3&sp=145&id=68026&d=10000 I see it has I/O ports on the back of it so perhaps thats where you add the switch over wire ..
-
LOL .. yeah but that wont help me right now .. Actually if they would reply they maybe able to help as its an Asus EAX300 Radeon Video Card that isnt working in these 2 Mobos ..
-
double up the voltage wire .. or power it at the camera .. then see how it goes .. that seems way to long to run on a single pair .. you are probably loosing amps .. If it also has IR then at night and in low lighting such as clouds etc . the iR maybe coming on and if so that draws more amps.

Kodicom/Diginet DVR card question
rory replied to bviewer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Collin is correct, and BT drivers wont work with Kodicom's software, only Generic software (see Sticky thread under this forum). -
does anyone know the official site for diginet Center &
rory replied to kewlshyguy_21's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Kodicom is a South Korean Company, but if the cards are being sold in Hong Kong, well actually if thats all you paid for them, straight up thats a clone .. sorry cant discuss cloned cards on the forum. -
What should I choose Pelco DX8100 or Panasonic WJ-HD316A
rory replied to karnos's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Another one i just demoed was the Nuvico .. Network software is impressive .. might want to check the reviews on those Embedded DVRs also .. half the cost of the others mentioned .. but yeah the GE is a work horse .. -
What they said .. but also, you really want some RG59 at least with the high Res cameras ... those cables you posted are basically like RCA .. probably RG56 or RG58 ..
-
I only see the SSC-DC593 on their website .. do you have a link to the camera specs?
-
Hi .. yeap.. now I havent actually used that, but specs are decent for the price. Ok so you need the DVR, Monitor, whether it be an LCD or CRT .. you could also just plug it into your TV A/V input .. Also needed are Cameras, BNC Connectors, Power Connectors (or you could splice the cable but if dont know how to properly then these connectors are better), Distributed Power Supply (4-ch for this DVR or can use 4 single transformers), and Cable ... cable for budget BW bullets dont need to be anymore than the all in one Video/Power cables .. they look like RCA cables .. thin ..or you can buy some premade RG59 Coax Siamese .. in case you ever upgrade to high res cameras. An online retailer would have all of that. Rory
