  1. I would do a clean install of Geo ... uninstall the old version, make sure the folder is deleted also, then reinstall .. if you want to back up the settings first I have a tool for that on my web site. Rory

    Computer Start up issue

Sata Drivers were installed before windows .. had to as did not see the HDD otherwise ... it has the Sata Raid thing when you click TAB when it first boots ... though Raid isnt being used. The bios is default settings, nothing much, went through it all and is okay.
  3. Yes, if live image quality is what you are after .. Generally, unless the client specifies, we use an LCD these days, due to the size of the CCTV CRT. But ultimately the CCTV CRT will produce the best image with CCTV cameras.
  4. the center pic, looks like the iris is open too much .. or the AGC is on SAGC .. try adjusting that ... also check the DVR settings .. they also have AGC in some of them .. or bad connection, bad DVR port, or bad camera .. have you tested each one on an analog monitor first? (CCTV Monitor or TV)

    A big mission for me.

Hi & Welcome to the forums ... 1-Yes 2-Centralised - such as Altronix, Pthree, etc, basically an Individually fused Multiple Channel Power Supply. The Voltage type will depend on which cameras you use, 12VDC is more common with DIY gear, while 24VAC is typically used amongst the pros .. depends though on the camera once again. 3-No .. PTZs have their place, but fixed cameras are a priority. PTZs are generally only useful if you have an operator that can always utilize them in live view, as they are not movable in playback. You always want the general views on Fixed cameras. 4-Intel over AMD for sure, and stay clear of the Hong Kong gear, make sure you get a legit card and not a clone. The DVR should be dedicated, no other software running. 5-You can, but it can cause issues sometimes, best to go into the DVR then loop out, if you can, if not it should still work with the T-connector. 6-This depends on the DVR once again .. most of them these days have this feature. What brand of card were you looking at? If this is for security and especially for a business I would look at getting a decent card, over a budget one. Not all are alike, the budget ones arent always stable and can have many unwanted issues. Best to get something that is tested. Rory
  6. Cool .. any day images .. also lets see them when they are all on where is the pool though?
  7. glad to hear of the upgrade That is an Auto Iris. I havent used that camera, but similar ones im working with right now have an Iris Level .. it will be a small screw terminal on its own .. see if you can locate it .. depending on the camera, turning to the left normally is darker (close iris), right is brighter (open iris) .. however be careful as if adjusted during full sunlight you can effect the night time image. There should be some dipswitches also .. flicker, BLC, maybe others .. Flicker ON seems to make it brighter also, from testing indoors with lots of Light .. and BLC maybe also .. play with those dip switches before adjusting the Iris level .. just incase .. these i have here though, out of the box so far needed no adjutsments at all .. didnt even require focusing except for one which Ill be installing tomorrow that will be focused at 6-8mm .. Also, there may also be another screw terminal, only not a normal screw head .. dont touch that one ... something to do with Power. The Nuvico may have more documentation than these OEMs i have though .. let us know. Rory

    Raid 1 and 5 Questions

ok .. just looking to compete ... but mostly for information purposes .. see lots of Raid 5 and Raid 1 stuff with Geo out there .. they say Raid 1 means it makes a copy of the OS so if one HDD goes down you just swap the HDDs?
  12. Id rather see that in a vandal dome housing ..

    Raid 1 and 5 Questions

ok .. so lets say I want to use Hot Swap HDDs for the video .. 4 of them .. and do Raid 1 for the OS and DVR software ... Raid 1 would be okay on SATA-150's .. (40/80GB) ? Do the Hot Swaps need to be Raid 5?

New install problem - need help

Well look for that chip and the name on it .. if it says VIA then for sure that will cause problems with the GV-800 .. actually I had it working with a Via one time for a day or so, but it was the DSP card that caused the main issues with the Via Chipset .. either way I switched to an SIS chipset and its been running fine ever since .. but its just as cheap to buy an Intel Chipset these days .. which is recommended by Geo anyway. If you can get a Motherboard model number would be good also .. If it is a name brand PC even easier to find out .. also age of PC .. to see whether just upgrading the Mobo would even be worth it .. as opposed to completely new parts for a new build.

New install problem - need help

easiest way is to open up the case and look for a name on the board, it would be a chip .. kind of square and thin .. would say Intel, Via, SIS, ATI, NVidea, or others ..

    Raid 1 and 5 Questions

thanks .. this is primarily for a DVR ... seen the specs online for others they have Raid 1 on 2 Drives, and then 4 drives (actually 6 in some cases) as Raid 5 .. I think im still lost though ..

    Raid 1 and 5 Questions

Ok thanks .. does this mobo do it though? Says it has Raid Function .. or is that just in the BIOS ..? Also .. for say Raid 1 for 2 Drives and Raid 5 for 4 drives ... how would that work .. or still need a 6 port card like i posted above? Remember this is all going to cost more than double what you guys pay for it .. time as i get it here .. so I wanna make sure its right the first time thanks Rory
  20. could be the Connections then .. though ofcourse issues can occur with Coax also .. make sure it is RG59 and not RG56 or RG58 .. some installers use the cheaper cable only to find out it is not actually RG59 ..

Via or intel or sis chipset

easy way is to open the case and look for a chip (sort of square thing on the motherboard itself) .. look for VIA, SIS, INTEL .. etc ... If you post the Motherboard model number then we can check online. Rory
  23. Hi, some budget DVR cards only do 320x240 or 320x252 .. (NTSC) .. Could be the card's limitations, and yes, depending on the camera, it would make a difference. What card is it and whgat type of cameras do you have? Rory
  24. Hi, many places, including superstores like sams club, etc (Cant say exactly which ones) but now they are marketted in the US under the name CpCam. Rory
