Look at me dragging up this old post .. Well time has certainly past and as many know on the forum I am primarily dealing in PC based DVRs and as mentioned in this same thread, i strip down windows XP to make it work great .. and also have done some major customizing. I didnt start messing around with XP until later that year (when this thread was last posted on) and didnt start messing with PC based DVR's until January following .. but it was definately SP2 that got me into XP and ofcourse for PC based DVRs after that there were many other reasons; Customs Duty (non on PCs, 45% on Stand Alones), Inhouse Upgradable (Down here that helps), and Higher Quality Evidence Sharing ... And also moved far away from HiSharp DVRs ... but other brands have come out since then and the technology of both PC based and Embedded have progressed amazingly .. Id still like to say thanks to Kinght for his input way back when .. and ofcourse AVConsult's .. I hope to see them both around the forums sometime .. Rory

CAPTURE Stand Alone Color Multiplexer CPT-CD9
rory replied to fsmyth's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
I would give them a call .. they are a canadian (and Korean) company but their products are used or were used in the US. I had a similar issue with their PC Based DVR a couple years back.. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1191&highlight=capture -
CAPTURE Stand Alone Color Multiplexer CPT-CD9
rory replied to fsmyth's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Here is their website ... http://www.capturecctv.com this maybe the specs for that mux: http://www.capturecctv.com/files/pdf/cpt-cd4t-9t-16t.pdf and the manual: http://www.capturecctv.com/product.php?prod_id=59 Rory PS. welcome to the forum .. -
Dont know .. was just going by the manufacturers specs on the combo cards on the other website .. they dont show any specs on the other cards for that .. my main issue is this, the GV-1120-16 is $200 more than the GV-800-16 (retail) ... now going by the specs above the 1120 does only 30fps in 720x480 and 60fps in 640x480, what I really would like to know is if the GV-800 does the same, or whether it does 120fps in 640x480 at the least .. not too concerned about 720x480 as that just eats up HDD space anyway .. but if the GV-800 is faster than other than the DSP on the 1120, that would make the GV-800 a better card .. slight live jitter as its not 480 display but still .. as for recording ... see with the price of the GV-1120-16 and the GV-800-16 it doesnt even make sense buying the 8 channel versions in either of those, as there is barely a difference in price time as you add a PC etc . .. clients prefer a 16 channel anyway incase they ever want to add additional cameras ..

Isis dvr remote view problem
rory replied to compuexpert's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
i find geo likes Radeon Better than GeForce though .. Me, i just like their flashy red logo -
You will have version 8.0x though and this is for the older ones (7.0x and lower) .. thanks though .. also requires editing the files and Geo likes to crash alot when the image and ini files are incorrect ... so would take some time ..
-
If you are in Australia (?) best let them know that also ... there is a good US Distributor that is an advertiser on this forum, but not sure what the shipping would be ... and yes any Geo Cards from Hong Kong are most likely clones ...
-
I take it you mean for the older versions of Geo .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/geoskinz.asp But its only for NTSC .. it just changes the Ini files and images though so if you could work that part out ... I dont have PAL to test with ..
-
Yeah but that is only a list of configurations they used with Geo .. PolVision has a similar one. . My question is related to the actual Frames Per Second and the Image Sizes .. Anyway im going to spec the hardware Compression cards now, with the Multi Quad card .. call it the Matrix System .. What I would really like to see (I-View has this) is a case for Geo which has push buttons on the front ... even if they only act as the IR Remote and GV Keyboard do together .. just more and more people ask for something without a mouse and keyboard ..

[RESOLVED] FDVR-8001 - First Alert PC Card Recorder Software
rory replied to rory's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
i got that from the manual ... the manual on the CD was fine .. just the setup file/files were bad ... Anyway got it running at the clients store .. its very very basic DIY software .. probably uses Direct Show as it only does 320x480, also doesnt fill the screen even at 800x600 .. but hey it works .. Buying a geo for him anyway, since he had this just wanted something up and running until then. I couldnt believe what he paid for this card compared to the GV-240-4 .. but then it has been a couple years since he bought it. -
anyone seen this camera?

Control Center, Center V2 or VSM
rory replied to jisaac's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The Center V2 software is great for offsite recording, i let it run on a PC at the alarm company for 3 months recording motion from 3 remote sites .. worked good and never crashed. .. now that said .. it comes included in the Geo software for up to 5 DVRs .. so maybe get one of the others if you have the choice .. -
Why do you want to open the cash register remotely?

I take it the new Geo Hardware Compression 4 and 8 channel cards will take care of the Real Time Speed issues. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/product/GV-2008.htm http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/product/GV-2004.htm You can install 2 of the 8 channel cards for 16 total channels, but does this then equal 480fps? Also, the specs claim the PC will require 2 GB of DDR ram for 2 cards. Either way, these cards along with the new multi quad card will no doubt change the way alot of us build the Geo DVRs. Combined together these basically give you a Matrix type higher quality system.

Control Center, Center V2 or VSM
rory replied to jisaac's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Center V2 is a central Monitoring software, does off site recording etc. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/solution/GV-CCS_keyfeat.htm (used it and its great .. could use some improvements but ill wait for the SDK) Vital Signs is a "health" manager ... useful if you maintain many Geo DVRs .. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/solution/GV-VSM_Intro.htm Control Center basically is their better Remote Program than what is included. http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/solution/GV-CCS_keyfeat.htm (havent used it myself so no comment) Rory -
WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
rory replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
See the Nuvico domes here .. the 3rd one is the WDR .. looks promising .. http://www.nuvico.com/product.asp?strCategoryCD=CC001&strModel=VANDALPROOF%20DOMES EDIT: that WDR dome sais it is a CMOS sensor so scratch that, but the other day night is CCD and specs are good. -
WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
rory replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
the wider the lens, the more light is let in on the chip therefore it can appear to see more in low light as that light is spread out across the image, so when you zoom it in further it will not be as sensitive, however quality gets higher as you zoom it in, but then you dont see as much due to the Field Of View, and again the quality will depend on the camera. -
Standalone DVR with loopout, storage>500GB ?
rory replied to TMM3's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Most of the better ones Geo Vision, NetProMax, Video Insight, Iview, Even Digiflower and some others (i havent tested all so sorry if I left one out) .. some of the cheap budget ones are very crappy video, and most of those only record and view in 320x240, especially ones you pick up in places like Kmart, and those USB ones. Typically a PC based DVR will be faster recording, higher quality evidence sharing, and if setup properly can be as good as analogue, or utilize analogue to make the live view even better. It really depends what is spent, but generally a high quality stand alone will cost much more than a high quality PC DVR and most will require returns to fix small hardware or software issues. -
I do like the DVR demo client software though .. would like to know which DVR that is and the pricing .. seems it hasnt been added yet though so probably new.

They're from a S Korean Manu that does alot of the mid range OEM for many US companies ... small and large .. so the actuall product is not bad .. you can get versions of the cameras with an Mechanical IR Cut Filter as is listed on their site ..i just wonder why they chose the nasty looking ones for a demo .. or they could just be very dirty ... If I remember correctly the versions with the Mech IR Cut Filter dont have DSS and SDNR .. the specs are a bit confusing .. If I have a chance ill check the manu's site out again to verify .. or you could email Luxon .. im sure they can assist.

Its not comparable to the Pano WDR dome .. this one is not a True Day Night so you get washed out colors in the day .. not a True BW mode also .. and doesnt have WDR ... its a decent dome for the price which i imagine is half that of the Pano and less than the Sanyo .. but it is OEM (S Korea) .. so you take your chances there. The Demo software is good though .. but they could use some better cameras ..

WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.
rory replied to rpogge's topic in Security Cameras
Cant promise anything as i havent tested either of these, but they come recommended .. Nuvico - I believe they have a True Day Night WDR Dome . .. might just be an indoor dome .. but thats your app anyway .. then there is Panasonic ... Nuvico is less expensive as it is OEM. there are many more these days that have WDR in their domes .. best to look for one that is True Day Night with a Mech IR Cut Filter .. then check the specs for the BW Mode Lux level. Then you could add IR if you needed more light. Also, you would get away from WDR if they were pointed inside and not at the windows.
