Will this samsung LCD TV work for viewing my cameras?
rory replied to Arockerdude's topic in System Design
Hi and welcome .. If you use a CCTV Monitor, providing it is not a low res model (as there are some cheap OEM ones out there also), then it would be much better quality than the TV. In Fact, a 13" TV will be better quality than that 20" TV, as its not enlarging the image as much (same resolution size, different screen size) - but the CCTV Monitor would be best. An LCD, consumer or security, will be worst quality than the TV, as you are coming from a quad which uses composite video. -
Dont rule out that IR issue with the eyes .. my eyes are still hurting from all that IR I setup a while back .. course other things could be making me blind, the sun, TV, etc, but anyway just make sure the baby wears a pair of shades .. i had to do that in the end ..

since 30 frames per second is real time fluid motion video, and 1 frame per second is much much slower ... wouldnt 1000 frames per second be so fast that we wouldnt see anything .. or am i missing something PS. I know it says a slow motion camera .. but what camera is this .. i want one ...

How do you know when cameras have mechanical cut filters?
rory replied to Arockerdude's topic in Security Cameras
Yeah the Sanyo, you can hear it also .. I had too much glare from the UF500 in the beginning and caused the Mechanical IR Cut Filter to go crazy one night .. that it came off track .. I had to open up the box camera and refit it back in place .. simple enough .. then ofcourse fix the IR issue so it wouldnt do it again .. The Sanyo's are rock solid Day Nights for the price though -

BTW this is a photo of one of the Extreme CCTV Day Night cameras (from an Extreme CCTV Spec Sheet), shows the Mechanical IR Cut Filter (Right). Most others will look similar. -
Publishing "dealer" pricing on a site?
rory replied to madcrabber's topic in General Digital Discussion
Easiest way to do it is list Manufacturers Suggested List Price .. thats Retail .. If its OEM then it hardly ever matters as they generally dont have that .. but the brands have them and makes it easier to use their suggestions .. Have Retail Clients sign up to get their discount price .. And have another one for Dealers if you wanted ... -
Will this samsung LCD TV work for viewing my cameras?

Due to the Composite Video output, the quality wont be great. If it was a PC DVR it would be good. In the case of that DVR, anything but a Composite CRT wont be that good. Honestly the Security LCDs are not that great, especially when dealing with Composite Video - same as using a Composite to VGA convertor - bad image. With a PC DVR a PC LCD monitor is your best choice, but they vary so you have to pick the right one. -
Ok, the browser based Multiviewer .. What OS is on the Client's PC? What is the Client's PC Specs? What Version of Internet Explorer are they using? What Version is on the Geo DVR? (eg. 6.0, 7.04, 8.01, 8.02, etc) Does the Multiview Application Load its Gui and if so do they ever get any video? It is actually not browser based (not an ActiveX Control) as it installs its own Gui. But once it has installed okay then we need to look at the questions above.

Hi, Welcome to the Forum. I cant imagine a security dealer showing you the Swan For stand alone Embedded DVRs, I would look at the GE StoreSafe, or even the Sanyo (the GE is better but a little more $$). The Samsungs Im not familiar with, but if they are the Samsung Techwin models they should be good. If networking is not required just get your hands on an AvTech 4-Channel DVR which is a budget DVR, also sold under the name CPCam in the US, and other various OEM names from places like Sams Club etc. Better yet see if you can get your hands on the PowerTelecom Embedded Board, its inexpensive, has an IR Remote, and you just put it in a normal PC Case - its non PC and doesnt need anything else besides the case. Plus its 16 channels. Their Network software could be improved (completed) but as a local stand alone DVR it is very good - NOTE - this is the embedded board model - not a complete DVR - just requires a PC Case w/ power supply. If someone there is PC Literate the PC method would also be ideal, not for the networking features, but they are typically much higher evidence sharing quality, among many other features. The fact that you came on this forum shows you want something more than just a Swan DIY DVR ... let us know some more .. thanks. Also, there are many Dealers on the Forum, and check the Site's advertisers for other options in the mean time. Rory

Suggestions for new configuration in our surveillance room
rory replied to MetalguitarJames's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi, well first need to know what resolution your DVR is .. 1024x768, 1280x1024, or other? If PC based normally would be one of the above .. the 19" Monitor would probably be the best image as far as LCDs go ... Search for this model Viewsonic VP930B-3 / 19" / 8ms / SXGA 1280 x 1024 / 1300:1 Contrast Ratio / DVI·VGA / Black / LCD Monitor That would get you around half your budget for 20 of them .. You probably first need to decide on the size, do you even have room for anything larger? How close the operators are to the monitors, 4 ways or 9 way views, etc .. someone else more experienced with surveillance rooms and operators would be able to answer all this .. If you are looking for a couple larger monitors.. . and to keep more within budget for larger monitors ... course these arent Panasonics but havent had any issues with the ones we've used down here ... Olevia 327V 27" 1366x768 / 8ms / 1600:1 Contrast Ratio / HDMI / PC Input / LCD Display with Speakers and Stand - No Tuner Olevia 332H 32" 1366x768 / 8ms / 1600:1 Contrast Ratio / HDMI / PC Input / LCD Display with Speakers and Stand - No Tuner Olevia 342i 42" 1366x768 / 8ms / 1600:1 Contrast Ratio / HDMI / LCD Display with Speakers and Stand - No Tuner -

Suggestions for new configuration in our surveillance room

Definately LCD over Plasma .. are you asking for us to mention a particular model? Whats the budget ..? Panasonic or OEM type? Ive used Olivia LCDs from Tiger with good results .. 1600:1 Contrast Ratio (or better) 1366x768 resolutions .. they are actually LCD TV's but work just as good .. and you can run them in 1280x1024 or 1024x768 fine unlike most LCD Monitors. .. 26" models are dead cheap, 32" models are only $100 more .. and then they have the 42" models ... depends what you want to spend .. they have the HDMI inputs but you can use a DVI-HDMI adaptor .. -
you can use either one ... on most muxes .. useful when using baluns which can be too tight fit when connected side by side (some of them) or T-Connectors ... so you alternate them ..
-
Is this the Local DVR Software (Multicam), or the Remote Video Software (Multiview)?
-
Is it the default password or did you change it originally? There is a password to reset all factory defaults .. not just the passwords though .. Here is the link to the Manual .. see page 9. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/triplexman.pdf see attached image also.

Ok, New camera Mounted.....need opinions please.

The 484 isnt as low lux as most BW cameras though (and some other Day Nights) going by its specs (0.06) .. which is why the BW's still pixelise when they are viewing in very low lighting (0.01-). In the kind of light levels the 484 sees in, the BW camera shouldnt pixelise. Though the bullet camera he is using im not sure the BW lux level, the 484 should be much better than that one in low light, but he doesnt want a box cam. Though that Pano would be a great choice if he did (or the GE Exview Day Night for even lower lux) .. -
Sounds like it maybe coming from the Mux .. How are the cameras powered? Also, are the Mux, PC, and cameras powered from the same area?
-
Economy would be something like the AvTech which is sold under numerous names in the US.

it looks like a pretty budget card, i see it is located on safemart also .. Might be best to scrap the card and move onto something a little better .. Ive searched but still cant find a manufacturers site for it .. How many cameras are there?
