    DigiCam 120

I Cant find the manufacturer for this system you mentioned, do you have any more info on this card? PS. welcome to the forum.
  2. Hi, Welcome to the forum .. At that price range I wouldnt call it economy, not a 4 channel DVR .. not at dealer cost. If thats the price range though, would be better off with a GE StoreSafe 4 Channel .. or even a Sanyo .. for the Non PC DVR solution.

    returns

LOL .. yeah i hear you man .. imagine having to ship that back from another country, then paying a bunch of shipping and then Customs Duty all over again to get it back here .. needless to say our warranties here have to be pretty limited ...

How to connect TCP/IP source to Geo?

Currently, you would need the Axis IP Decoder, which decodes the video from their IP cameras and converts it to analogue for use in a CCTV System. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_292/index.htm Ive never used it, so any questions would need to be directed to Axis Tech Support .. hope this helps

Start your own security business from EBAY your thoughts?

LOL ... just a sales man there is all .. those are really cheap DIY stuff ... also they got plenty of codes in the UK ... I dont think its that simple there either .. but really its the same with many other industries, including CCTV .. people jump in at the deep end with no prior experience .. heck we got plumbers selling CCTV systems here, and just recently a landscape company was about to start video monitoring .. LOL !!
  6. Sorry, we cant discuss pirate cards here. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3301
  7. Ive used them, but not that feature, they are Digiflower cards. Id suggest spending the extra $ and go with Geo or VI ..

    Hello from Indianapolis

Hi, welcome to the forum ... seen your website before a few times .. good to have you onboard here ... Rory
  9. As it is a no name (OEM) camera its hard to tell if the specs are correct or not .. it may not even be an Exview chip. Even if it is, there are so many versions of the Exview Chip, basically the more expensive it is the better it is. Though going by the specs provided on that link, it is low resolution and I would take that 100' Infrared with a grain of salt .. basically it is a very budget OEM Color / IR bullet camera, not a Real Day Night camera.

Ok, New camera Mounted.....need opinions please.

Even with a pure BW camera, without enough light you will experience pixelising as it compensates for the extreme low light condition .. there are some cameras now that digitise the BW effect and remove alot of the noise, cant comment on those though. The old cameras were probably 1/4" cameras and if they had 6mm lenses then theyd be more in the area of the 9mm in these 1/3" lenses .. though thats pretty narrow for a single camera shot ..

Ok, New camera Mounted.....need opinions please.

Its gotta compensate to see in the low light, hence the darker it is the more pixelisation you will see ... Which lens did the camera come with?

    Geo Live Vue

Yep I dont have the registration server, just PM me the Key and ill send you the info back. Right now you would just check the camera box you want to connect to .. I had/have lots more plans for features but hadnt had the interest in the program as much as I originally expected Still its all i use myself for Geo Remote viewing ..
  13. Never used Avermedia so cant compare .. The Brightness and Contrast settings are different with the Combo cards on version 8.0 from version 7.0x .. other than that the only other difference really is when they are set to 720x480 Source, the Remote Video has black edges around it.

thats a cheap TV .. darn .. What type was it? Cheapest I can get down here is the 13" Color TV and thats like $160
  16. Wendy do you have a link for the Avermedia Remote Client if it is available. This would be a good thread to post it in for any future forum searches. Thanks Rory
  17. Hi, i'd recommend ATI for all Geo Cards .. 128 or better yet 256 if you can afford it. .. genuine ATI as opposed to OEMed names. For the other non Combo cards OEMs would suffice. Best quality ive found is with Geo Mpeg4 (Fast Mpeg4). Their H264 takes up less space but is lower quality; it is however a good setting for webcam server on slow internet connections. 720x480 does make a small difference in recorded video. But for most multi camera apps that takes up so much additional hard drive space the difference isn't noticable enough to be worth the extra expense. But if you ultimately want the highest quality then you would want 720x480 with Fast Mpeg4. This would all be redundant if the cameras are not high resolution though. Even though a low res camera set up properly can look really good with these settings, when you playback the recorded video and blow up the video size it then gets pixelised as it goes above its original camera specific size.
  18. Depends on the LCD .. first it has to be in its Native Resolution ... so youd want to get a LCD that specs as (depending on the DVR) 1024x768 or 1280x1024 .. anything other than Native generally can be pretty bad. Need to also look at the Contrast Ratio. For example this should be a good one .. ViewSonic VA903b / 19" / 8ms / 700:1 / SXGA 1280 x 1024 / Black / LCD Monitor And this one should be great (another $80 extra though) Viewsonic VP930B / 19" / 8ms / SXGA / 1280x1024 / 1000:1 Contrast Ratio / Black / LCD Monitor I havent used either but plan to at some point. I am using a Viewsonic 19" Widescreen right now with a Geo Card though and it is great. However the Native Resolution is 1400x900 so no good as a Clients LCD .. as the DVR is in a smaller window .. but its still sweet. Ofcourse either way, right now, a CRT will still produce a better image .. but with a decent LCD you should be able to get away with a decent image. Also, the higher you go with resolution,. the lower the camera's video quality gets, as you are blowing it up more, since it is processing the camera's video in either 640x480 or 720x480 for example .. depending on the DVR and its settings .. and the camera also can make a difference. . a 350TVL camera ..well thats being blown up from 400 some pixels to 1000 or 1200 .. so that all compiled together only aggrevates the situation. . PS. Im not an LCD expert bTW, just talking from what ive used (or seen in use/tested) so far which doesnt compare to what ive used or tested with DVRs and cameras.
  19. The Embedded DVR's recording quality is actually good, its just when you digitise it using the standard network methods that come with most of them, that it becomes much worst .. however as they are typically recording in 720x480, you can use the video output to a PC Capture card to convert to AVI or other for the PC. Course that all depends on the DVR .. the budget ones dont all do 720x480 on each channel unless they are in full screen .. but the more expensive brand names typically do - they do this by multiplexing the video .. so you are getting slower recorded video as it switches super fast from one channel to the next .. but you get the high quality. Cant say I know what to recommend you guys over there, as I was thinking mostly of GE (Kalatel) DVRs when i typed the above, and they are very expensive just to ship them down here to our country (and we are right off the coast of Florida) so I imagine it will cost a fortune to get them to your area. Otherwise Dedicated Micros or Bosch maybe something worth while looking at as they do have production for those on the Europe side, and perhaps also in your area. Typically I would just sell them the GV250-4 unless they can afford the GV800 .. i just dont bother with the 600 or 650 ..
  20. Yeah, reason most people dont bother with the 4 channel GV800 and go straight to the 1120 combo card .. only a small difference . Are you an end user or a reseller/installer? Also .. is SGD .. Singapore? the GV-650 or 600 are cheaper, and ofcourse the GV-250 is much cheaper .. might want to see whether you really need 30fps on all channels .. with Smart Motion it can be good with the 250 especially compared to most stand alone DVRs.. slower than the 600's+ obviously but same exact Geo software. Also make sure they are selling you Genuine cards and at the least version 7.04 .. 8.0 preferrable ..
  21. the GV-800-4 ... no DSP though, but real time live and record.
  22. yeah but you can get the SDK from the other dsp guys and customize your own software ))
