Oh wow, that's an awesome concept. And a new place to park my domains. It works well, my domains are using that now and Im hosting my website and email server here on my computer. Its nice having total control over everything unlike with shared hosting on another server.
-
im working on an updater for it, they have updaters from others but I want something different. im making it so you can just send a command to a server from any browser and it will update the user's ip for that sub domain. so hopefully can even be done on a mobile phone. gonna post more about it on my site when I get something more complete.

Really? Like what? The web interface on my Axis P3344 has dozens of pages and seems pretty complete. Yet you claim something is missing - what is it? not to mention your users have to get past issues like various compatibility issues, not having the latest browser, and if it uses activeX or some other plugin it still needs software to be installed even if its in the background.

Try watching 64 cameras from multiple sites inside a web browser and see what happens. And can your browser do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDpWVA-VQIw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-MQ5ZIb0h0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQxk8nXKxqQ

I hate all cameras equally. When the suspect has a mask there is not a camera on this earth that will ID the suspect. Re browser apps, you are limited to what the browser will allow you to do. When I see something that only has a browser app and no real software, It makes me chuckle. +100000000

looks like a big bullet camera. box cam comes in a box.

$4000 should be more than enough for an 8 camera system. I just quoted 47 cameras and 2x 32 channel DVRs for $7,000 (plus wiring+labour) You likely don't need the same camera for each location. Figure out what type of camera you need where, then work from that. There are a billion choices out there, good luck

I think youtube is to blame

that camera is out of focus or dirty, and also likely just a crap camera. That's not what is expected from a properly focused and cleaned good camera. BTW if you zoom the camera into 9mm you will see her even better.

Unless you buy a 10,000 Megapixel Camera nothing else will ever be good enough. Everything else is just junk. Take out a mortgage and go get that bad boy.

Web browser apps are so restricted.
-
Another way is this: buy a domain name at a registrar sign up for freedns.afraid.org add afraid.org's name servers to your domain name at the registrar wait a day or two add sub domains - A record - Sub Domain: client1.mydomain.com - ip: their IP. Run an IP update tool on a PC at their location to update just their record.

Recording just on camera motion detection?
rory replied to jokerone's topic in General Digital Discussion
There is motion detection masking, and then there is privacy masking - 2 different things. Motion detection masking has been available on DVRs for at least 10 years. -

Stop stops all recording. Select schedule to start recording by schedule. -

They should invest in a post office box

Unfortunately all TDN bullet cameras are coming with that now, lets hope KT&C does a better job of it than some others I tested. Worse case scenario I would break off the external focus and zoom parts and make it internal only.

lock it, and fill it with ink/dye. Or move it in more onto your yard where they cant get to it. If they step foot on your yard, then you can take the machete and teach them a lesson.
