DVR 4 channel camera and PCI card
rory replied to yiyang's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi, welcome to the forum ... Sounds like a typical generic 4 channel card .. Shouldnt have any issues getting it to work .. What OS are you running? Which PCI slot is it plugged into? Is there a name on the card somewhere .. or the software ..? Its a very slight possibility that the drivers for the card from the manufacturer may only work with an Intel Chipset, or like you said there is just a conflict with the card and some other hardware. Those generic 4 channel cards typically will work with other Chipsets though, ive got some from a couple manufactures with the manus drivers working in AMDs with VIA chipsets .. There is something else though that is possible, if the card is what we call a clone (copy of a name brand) then this kind of problem is common with those. Rory -
Geo has it built in ... not 100% perfect though .. i tested it with cars so far and worked pretty good .. but was off a bit due to the whole range of vehicle sizes ..
-
guess yah need the 10meg version for license plates
-
Id use Ultra VNC though over RealVNC .. you get more features .. Rory
-
Simple .. Arm is an OEM (they buy from other manufacturers and relabel the products with their name), Sanyo is a Manufacturer ....
-
I use Ultra VNC for all remote admin .. Normally if its a slower connection ill switch it to 256 colors .. that generally gets rid of any hang ups .. if its even slower you could blur the screen a little. Rory

Glad you got it soughted out ... just not too many anykeeper users on the forum i guess ...

So if the camera is lowered slightly, it disconnects straight away? If thats the case, someone could force open the padlock (assuming it is locked...) and stick a drill in, and the camera would not be able to see whats going on, as it would have no power. They could then walk away with a expensive camera system. Or is the locking system secure enough to withstand brute force attack? They'd get tiefed around here real quick ...

Guess that lens should be okay.. otherwise see these Fujinon DN Lenses .. i tink big $$ though .. http://www.fujinoncctv.com/zoom/day_night.shtml might want to look at something to protect the camera from water spills etc, unless you guys are more careful than i am in my home .. In all its a great camera, i mean a step up would be the pano 1/2" camera .. but then you are in the Extreme range with that and a lens ... Id lend you my viewfinder but it would cost alot to ship it there and back

Hi, like Colin said, to really utilize that cameras features it should be placed outside ... the image just wont be as good looking through the window ..but that is still up to you, if you do, it will have to be right up against the glass and make a rubber ring to go around the lens and touching the glass to prevent glare from indoor lighting (if it exists). Anyway ... lens wise, thats not going be very good for low light apps .. as it is a telephoto lens and it is F 1.6 .. you would still be able to use alot of IR with it but id really get a Computar Viewfinder and get your exact lens FOV from that, a fixed lens would actually be better for low light and Infrared, but since you maybe more woried about the WDR thing then ... id at least first make sure whether you need 100mm or not .. if you only need 49mm then get a 5-50 as that would be a slightly lower F-stop. If you can, get a Day Night (IR Optimized lens) now as though this aspherical lens would work with IR also, the DN one would be less work in the long run. This one will need to be focused under low lighting BTW.

That sucks .. with Ademco it just takes a power down and power up ... and a combination of keys on the keypad ... if its just the installer code. But yeah if they do local program lockout and if you dont have the downloader ID then you cant get in and have to switch the panel ..
-
we always used beams for external protection, as we want 0 false alarms. Ofcourse proper installation of the beams will also determine whether you get false alarms or not. This was in the Burglar Alarm industry though so was a little more important not to have false alarms.
-
no, but used this many times, also used their beams alot.. http://www.optex-europe.com/Site/temPW3_001.asp?intTemplateID=&intPage=1762&strLang=en&intLang=2&intLevel=6

If the power goes off it is the same as pulling the plug. It should work, works for me .. our power goes off for hours all the time .. And i personally dont even have a UPS .. got a voltage regulator though .. If it is brownouts you are experiencing make sure you are using Voltage Regulators or a UPS with built in AVR ..
-
What about something like an Ademco Panel with a bunch of partitions .. thats going to cost big $ ?
-
With Ademco if its just the installer code you dont have thats easy .. its right in the installer manual on how to get into programming without the code .. If however they locked local program mode through the downloader software then they'll need to contact their old company, or replace the panel.
