you will need the IP camera's hardware decoder, as from that you would loop into the DVR input.
-
Hi, if you mean an IP camera, you will need the decoder from the IP camera company to convert it to analog. Most of them will have encoders (video servers) and Decoders.
-
I believe that is just for recording remote video to a local file on the remote computer (your laptop). See if the DVR has any codec settings for the remote video, or even frame rates or quality settings .. (inside the DVR program menu) From a quick google though its MJPEG only and the issue you are having is probably DVR related along with upload speed on the DVR side .. what they claim doesnt always mean thats what it is .. if you can take your laptop there and do an Upload Bandwidth test ...

Hi, looks like a budget Color IR camera .. they dont have IR Cut Filters .. Basically you need something like the Extreme UF100 or UF500 IR's to really do something in those larger areas ... those 2, the East Side and West side should be doing alot better than that though, dont need a whole lot of IR for those short areas .. you can try adjusting the camera physically so the IR reflects off something such as the wall .. if it doesnt reach the wall then there isnt much else can do with that. Another thing, IR cameras need alot of cleaning .. thats why it would look even dirtier at night when you dont see it much in the day. Basically anytime it rains it needs a clean ... also, any camera that is being used with IR must be adjusted at night in the dark and under the darkest conditions. What did you pay for each camera if you dont mind? (no links please just price, thanks)

Simple question about IP cameras

Cool .. yeah i did put that in my Edit above ... also see this image from the trade link you provided .. -
yeah the first paragraph i agreed with .. either way they need a true day night camera .. the sanyos worked out good on the extreme job i did .. but the ge had more features .. both were the same under the UF 500 though .. Also it may help produce some more IR to the camera ive never tested, though with the aspherical lenses and the Extreme IR's it was like daylight with the ones i used, with some focus shift in low light but not much on the 12mm ..in fact Extreme will tell you there is barely any focus shift over 4.3mm, and you can also focus the lens off by about 10% to help fix some of it .. probably makes a bigger difference on the cheaper cameras and IR .. i never really messed much with those .. like you said, if they go IR they should use the right gear anyway ...

Most sell both an encoder (video server/IP camera) and a decoder .. you would use the decoder to convert the network video to analog. However im not 100% sure this is what the GVbox is .. EDIT. ironically UDP doesnt make a decoder from looking at their website /.. so this is just a video server .. so you can plug in cameras at a remote site to be monitored remotely by Geo software .. without a DVR at the location. -

Thats only true for some of them .. and depends on the software and setup, most I have demoed have been low res. There is a thread on Motobix test images though, that one looks nice. He does however give you examples of the frames and image sizes. For most CCTV jobs though that kind of product wont be applicable or feasable. Back to Morph's question on Geo, you would simply plug your IP cameras into their decoder which will then plug into the Geo system. -

Kao .. G e o is a software company, U D P makes their cards .. -
Actually for IR you dont need a DN / IR Corrected lens to get a great image under IR in pitch dark .. and the camera matters but doesnt have to be a WDR just for that ... the thing is the IR Corrected lenses just add a bonus to not having to worry about focus shift in low light ... with a normal lens basically if you focus it under IR it will be as good in the day with Sunlight as it is under IR (depends on the IR), but in low light is where it suffers, such as cloudy days or early evening/sunrise .. Ive used Aspherical lenses in the past with great success ... also, there is less chance of Focus shift with narrower FOVs such as 10mm+. Course the WDR can fix other issues like glare from car lights, etc. Basically the IR bulb you use and its installation, is what really matters when dealing with IR . . could have the best camera in the world but if the IR Bulb/LEDs are not the correct ones for the location, or not installed properly, then the image still wont be great. Ofcourse the camera matters also, but its only a part of the equation. Either way IR is a head ache, much easier just to add normal lighting.

they're probably recording in real time each camera .. the less fps per each camera would make it look like its fast .. Now cant say if this is 100% correct, its just from what ive noticed. Could depend on the codec and or card also .. For example, my GV250 with 1 camera and motion set to max frames, plays back normal speed in WMP ..

Nice! Any more shots you got please post .. I gotta read their details, but does the live view do multiviews also ..? Is that just the player ... Thanks Rory -
Shouldnt be an issue if the DVR is recording, though the DVRs i installed were always set up to motion record .. but im sure they were recording at times when i uploaded the changes.

i know this is an old post, but did you get this worked out? thanks. Rory -
Yeah man .. plenty of times .. are you having issues doing it? Download from DVR, make changes, Upload back to DVR ... Depending on Bandwidth/DVR Model you may have to disconnect to see the changes. Rory

Cant go wrong with Sony, and yes a huge improvement over Q-see DIY cameras .. BUT .. thats a color camera with lux levels only recommended for alot of lighting ... Since you're in that price range you might want to check out the GE KTC-840 Exview Low Light Color Camera, or their KTC-2000DN Day Night Exview Camera ... or even the Sanyo Day Night which would be a little less expensive and still a decent Day Night camera .. and then there is the Panasonic Day Night camera with Wide Dynamic for intense background lighting situations ... All the Day Nights I mentioned are True Day Nights which switch to a higher resolution lower lux BW mode using a mechanical Filter with IR Response .. Rory

4 channel clover, switching to 300gb hdd?
rory replied to camera714's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It may just not recognise it .. cant say as we dont work with those type of DVRs .. but with a High End DVR i can get a month easy with 4 cameras on motion detection in a business application with only a 40GB Stand Alone DVR. Either way even with maxed out recording you should easily get a week, heck im getting 2 days on my personal PC with just 2GB of available space using Mpeg4 and 720x480 Recording ... motion record but there's a ton of motion. Even if using Wavelet or JPeg (whichever the DIY DVRs use) should still get longer than that .. what size HDD is it? -
what he said .. Plus maybe just point the lens over a little more off the wall .. Check the DVR AGC setting also .. you can turn that down on the GEs .. Actually you can do that through WaveReader also ..

I think you'll need to buy a special Burle lens for it .. I guess you are already using an electronic/manual Iris lens right? I take it the round thing looks like in this picture of another burle camera .. http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/10025643/Images/6530-3.JPG I searched google and just cant find any .. may take some more intense searching ... otherwise yah might be stuck with that lens.. Rory

Does it plug in? I saw the big round hole on an image of the camera i found on google .. I used a Burle camera before but didnt see that ..
-
Hi, connection for the lead from the lens, or the actual lens itself where it screws onto the camera? Its a really old camera BTW ... burle were took over by Phillips .. who were then took over by Bosch
