Yeah Honeywell prices are high even compared to GE and Pano, they came out with a "Honeywell Korean List" I think it was last year ... their prices were always high .. some of their better products are decent from what ive heard, but seems you would need to know which one is what before puchasing anything from them .. Its not just them though selling OEM now ... other big names are doing it as well .. just have to be on the look out. Course AVtech is taiwanese though, not Korean so that has me confused.. Its been sooo long since i used a VCR so cant help there, but yeah if i remember you use the trigger out from the Mux to the DVR ... the mux is the thing that is required to decode the recorded video, so yeah should just work .. but like you said if the DVR doesnt have that then ... Do you have a Manual you can post for the DVR? Anyway i attached an example of the Kalatel (GE) DSR-2000 connections ... maybe look for something like that .. basically you use the record-in from the Mux to trigger recording ... Vext in the case of the DSR-2000 is if you wanted the DVR to control the recording .. See attached images Maybe you can see if you can get your hands on a second hand DSR-2000 or DSR-1000 even. Rory

Camera not sending video to DVR unit...HELP!!!
rory replied to Brandon@RobySolutions's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Did you plug the cable from the camera at the DVR side, into your LCD ..? If you get a picture on that, then swicth the port on the DVR incase its simply not enabled for that channel, or its a bad port. What DVR is this? -
You normally have to specify the mux type in the DVR settings ... at least if you want the DVR to control the recording/playback. been a couple years now but ive used quite a few of the Kalatel DSR-2000 1 channel DVRs with their muxes ... the mux didnt have to specify what was what, only if you wanted the DVR to control the recording which is better .. but had to specify the mux in the recorder. But you maybe just able to hook it up like a VCR ... other than that, are there any mux settings in the DVR menu? You said this is an AV Tech model?? If so thats why its so cheap .. those are the ultimate budget DVRs on the planet. But still should work.

Non-ActiveX WebClient Solution??
rory replied to ForestCat's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
With my site ... you'll have to let me know ahead of time as Its my PC and I dont have that feature turned on all the time, since i never actually use the remote video myself (always home) .. but it should work the same as Video Insights, which all it is doing is refreshing a Jpeg image. Once the device can see Jpeg Images, and supports Javascript, should be ok .. If it doesnt support javascript then it should at least see a fixed image. -
Can you set up the activated zones in those DVRs (cant remember with the everfocus or not). I wouldnt call Samsung the highest end, thats a mid range DVR. High end Stand alones are like GE, Panasonic, etc. Even on the cheap budget ones though i was able to get good motion detection, well too much actually. But i wouldnt expect it to pick up a small object like a human at 100' with a wide angle FOV. How motion detection works is they have to cross more than one motion block for it to pick them up normally, in the case of IR motion sensors I think it is 2 IR beams must be crossed, which is why we dont normally point a motion detector straight at an entrance, as then they can sometimes walk right up to the motion without it picking them up on some motions .. so i imagine with the DVR motion it depends on the size of the blocks, what height the camera is at and probably something else im forgetting .. Does the DVR you have, also have sensetivity settings for the motion? How close are the cars to the FOV?

They're 4 times+ the price in the US, for the high quality IP cameras, then much more for the software. Remember we are talking retail pricing, and it would be 10x the price if we compare it to the analogue bullet cameras.

You can make changes in the INI files without stopping the recording ... but yeah it shouldbt be that way with Geo ..

Hmmm, a japanese car and a ford truck just had a head on collision outside my appt (which is on a main road here), 2 people lay unconcious. Anyway, ambulance came quick, police took over 30 minutes to arrive. Im thinking about proposing cameras to the cops, for this area, just as its a bad corner on a main road, and in the past 3 years, ive seen at least 5 major accidents, most head ons, including 1 motorbike head on, and alot were hit and runs. Ive also had cars hit my wall drunk, and have the tow truck come and tow them away, before the police ever turn up, leaving us to fit the bill! Anyone ever proposed anything like this to the police / government? Im thinkng about cameras on the lamp posts, with permission from the government, it will just be recorded in the DVR in my place. Simple question about IP cameras
rory replied to root's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
cat5 and baluns are still closed circuit .. its not a network. .. its still CCTV .. though baluns cheap and I wouldnt recommend them on my worst enemy .. Id like to ponder a question, how many people in the IP industry have actually been in the Security industry, or even the CCTV industry, before they started doing IP video systems ... from what i have seen most of the manufacturers dont know much about CCTV let alone the security industry, and alot of the users are mostly IT guys ..? -
Camera Motion Detection Not ready For Prime Time?
rory replied to ForestCat's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yep Dont worry, i cant live without iron bars on my windows and door .. i got alarm beams and the camera .. so when the beams go off i know what to expect .. video recording is for after the fact, but ive used the camera live video more than a few times to see something i couldnt have without actually coming too close in person .. here we got alot of home invasions, but mostly in the gated communities where the big money is .. but crime wise we got plenty of it around the other areas ...i dont walk out my door without my machete (guns are illegal here besides for pigeon hunting!) -
Nice idea murph .. the only other thing i can think of would be to use the Geo IO and an AD2000 Dialer (cost quite a bit of $$).. can you post some screenshots? Thanks, Rory

Camera Motion Detection Not ready For Prime Time?

I would not rely on it for the alarm part, use an alarm system for that, that's what they are made for. They are very inexpensive these days. You can still integrate the sensors into the DVR. That said, if you have the $$.. http://www.geindustrial.com/cwc/products/ge-interlogix?id=eccp-fc&lang=en_US -

Need help with my dvr card
rory replied to evtr's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi, well for that software to work, you still need to be able to recognise the Conexant chip ... meaning basically if you already followed my instructions in the thread about generic cards/software and it didnt work, then this software may not work. Basically btSpy should recognise it but it may not ... how to get it to recognise some cards is to actually run the card's software, then when it asks you use the card's windows GUI to change cameras ... save that file and you then have a working file for Bt to create a driver for .. so yeah its kind of complicated but moreso you still need the card's software .. in some cases. Generally if its a Conexant it should have no issue working though ... Now that said .. the site mentioned talks about the Pico card ... which is a knockoff (pirate) of another card ... this means we cant support it on this forum for 1 .. and for 2 basically it is the ultimate cheapest card on the planet, and has major issues in anything but 800x600 and on anything but older OS's .. if thats the card you have it is not even worth talking about (sorry ). Basically i would look for a way to get rid of it and look for a card that comes with software ... see with PC cards the software is what costs the money, not the card. For a decent card that is inexpensive but comes with reliable software you could check out the GeoVision GV250 ... its not super fast but definately faster or as fast as the Pico (or whatever you have) and comes with the full Geo Software .. and its really inexpensive as it uses a generic card, but also has the full Geo Software .. there is also Video Insight (see banner add at top) and many more .. Help with connecting power.... pls Javelin JE3824BW
rory replied to duntovlives's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Without the manual dont know exactly .. on the newer cameras its something like ... ~, G (side by side just like that but normally there are only 4 screw terminals - guess minus the AI lens part). 24VAC is not polarity sensitive so actually you can try until you get a picture. Make sure you are getting the correct voltage though on the power wire at the camera end, pick up a cheap meter if you dont have one yet. Rory -
In NTSC 720x480 is the highest for any DVR currently. 4CIF (NTSC) = 704x480 4CIF (PAL) = 704x576 D1 (NTSC) = 720x480 D1 (PAL) = 720x576 What kind of cameras are they using, most of the pro box cameras (name brand bigger $ ones) do 811x508 (NTSC) and 795x596 (PAL) ... Lower Res and OEM High Res cameras range around 542x492 (NTSC) and 542x582 (PAL) Rory

Simple question about IP cameras
rory replied to root's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yep i do see some advantages in this type of app .. but they are rare. I see it going more hybrid, Analog & IP together (like VI) ... eventually.. so the DVR guys can target the IP cam market ... and vice versa .. -

Its very real, at least down here. Security Booth Guards for one thing ... most of them down here never touched a PC before in their life. The point is push buttons that say 1, 2, 3, 4 way, 9 way, are much easier to use than a mouse and a keyboard with a windows GUI ... granted you can set your PC DVR up in full screen with an IR remote, but most installers dont.
