Im trying to fix a laptop for someone .. Firstly ... basically it came up with missing NTLDR .. then fixed that and was missing hall.dll and basically there was no boot .ini file .. so it seems really like she had someone else try to fix it and they loaded XP but it didnt complete installation .. however, she had windows XP on there before .. when I go in Repair Console i only see the default folders .. cant access anything in DOS mode as its NTFS .. basically she wants her images off there, but to me it seems like they did a format when the other people tried to install it ... any comments on this?? Second issue .. i tried to install windows also, without a format .. it would get to 20% then come up cant find file please make sure CD is in the drive .. etc .. but she claims the CD Drive was working fine before .. also the CD is fine as far as I can tell. I was thinking basically one of the 3, CD Drive, Hard Drive, memory? I dont have any of these to switch with to check though .. just want to get some feedback .. Thanks Rory

need help for installations of 50 fixed cameras and 40 PTZ
rory replied to straky's topic in System Design
If they want high quality real time record then you'd at least 8 channel units .. 16 cams are real time on 16 channel units only in low res mode. -

50% Failure Rate: Clover OB220 B/W Outdoor Camera

Fortunately I Dont view Clover as CCTV equipment so I would never enter into an argument with them over that .. as for Wiki .. people with too much time on their hands. . -
50% Failure Rate: Clover OB220 B/W Outdoor Camera

Hmmm .. trick question .. anything that isnt Radio Shack, Clover, Lorex, etc .. Something that lasts at least 3 years to start with and doesnt have a high failure rate ... a camera that produces a high quality image, is connected with coax or fiber to a main system ... and the list can go on all day .. but im busy right now .. -

LOL ... dont believe everything on Wikipedia, its human edited, a majority of information on their are a person's (the particular editor - which can be anyone) opinion's or views .. for example, they are claiming IP cameras are CCTV, when they arent ... point is ... Pro's dont consider Clover CCTV .. -

some drunk or high driver wrote off my bros car last night, like a head on, guy was coming round a bend on the wrong side of the road .. anyway, since we have no laws against driving drunk here (even if the other person dies) and even if he has no insurance, even if the other driver gets charged its just a $200 fine and no mark goes on your licence .. plus more than likely he has no insurance, and since the car was still insured in my name, my insurance is going to jump up on my jeep now too .. sucks big time cops took an hour to come and it was 2am and they were 5 minutes away with no traffic on the road .. ok rant over ..

Well its not from a Major brand .. so it cant be that good .. otherwise one of them would have it also ..

Repost, Blue Screen of Death with Geovision 650 or 800 card
rory replied to masarati's topic in Geovision
Nothing else should be run on the DVR, including Anti Virus software .. once only the ports required for the DVR software are open and every single other port is closed, should not have any issues. Ultra VNC is downloadable from here (its like Remote Desktop/PC anywhere) www.ultravnc.com -
Cool ...

Oh ok .. yeah this one is called orient ..

Well .. here is a list i made a while back .. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=36977#36977 Ive gotta do an updated one .. but basically you only install the DVR software, turn off a bunch of uneeded windows services, some other speed tweaks like display settings, etc .. also you should totally block out IE best you can .. even if it just means turning on Content Advisor .. I would only install the Cleaners if you ever need to use them .. once noone can browse the web then there should not be any issues ... make sure to turn on TCP/IP Port Filtering .. just enable the Geo Ports (and VNC if you are using that) ... Now .. if you like .. i can log on sometime if you install Ultra VNC and go through one of the systems so you can see how to set it up .. let me know .. just remember im on the -5 Eastern Time .. -
