Repost, Blue Screen of Death with Geovision 650 or 800 card
rory replied to masarati's topic in Geovision
Sounds like it maybe the mother boards then .. (chipsets) You should be able to swap them out for a Micro-ATX with an Intel or even SIS ... maybe get one that has an AGP slot and add a 128MB DDR ATI Card (or generic ATI Radeon). I once ordered a SystemMax PC for a GV800 and it came with a Via, had all kinds off issues, so i swapped the mobo for what i could get down here, was a Micro ATX with SIS chipset.. uses an 128MB DDR AGP Generic Radeon Card, its been running perfect since last August still on the internet and I havent been back for one single service call -

Hi, Are the DVR cards on the first or second PCI slots? Did you try XP SP2? You mentioned Media Center, that could be the issue. Hopefully its been tweaked also and not using the OS defaults. It wouldnt be my choice of PC for a DVR, though it seems the meet the specs, dont know about the motherboard and chipset though.. Are these Legit Geo Cards? Have you contacted Geovision direct yet? here is the chipset you mentioned .. http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/embedded/915gv.htm The 915G/915GV Express chipset is Intel's first PCI Express and DDR2 chipset with integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 for the Intel Pentium 4 processor in the LGA775 package. The 915G/915GV Express chipset GMCH, with its enhanced architecture graphics engine, delivers not only high 2D/3D graphics performance, but also provides an efficient high bandwidth communication channel connecting the processor, system memory, I/O subsystem, and other components together to deliver a stable mainstream desktop platform solution. -
The B/W mode on even a True Day Night Camera is not as good as a B/W camera .. ive Tested several high end Day Nights side by side in the similar low light situations and they do not match even a budget BW camera for quality in low light to almost no light. Which is why i mentioned unless you need color (most clubs dont at least not indoors) then best to stick with a B/W camera. That said I havent tesed the 1/2" Day Nights, but then as they only come in Box cameras and most of the clubs down here dont want them around the clubs (besides in the car park).

What to do when no-ip / dyndns start collecting subscription

there's no guarentee your internet will be working either, or working properly .. have to accept some risk when dealing with Remote Video. Record locally and use an alarm system, other than armed guards and dogs, it cant be 100% but at least its something. -
isnt embedded XP big $$$??

Will do .. meanwhile ive found a ton of others out there besides NO-IP etc .. heres a basic one that allows dynamic updates through your own software etc ... working on this code right now as it appears to be the most flexible.. but you can also just manually add your own names through their GUI .. up to 5 Domain names are free ... unlimited yourname.domain.com ... heres another .. run your own service .. http://www.dyndnsservices.com/ or use their's .. http://www.dynddns.us/ run your own once again ... http://www.dyndnsservices.com/ Ofcourse if you have a hosting company already you can manually add them in .. discountasp.net which is my host .. in their control panel you can add your own "A Records".. like client1.youdomain.com. .. and map it to you DVR IP ... once the domain name already exists then it updates this at least within an hour ... Basic info on "A Records" (from Zone Edit) An "A" record, also called an "address" record, ties a domain name to an IP address. If there is a server on the Internet that is configured to handle traffic for this domain, you can enter the name of the domain (like "www.ZoneEdit.com") and the IP address of the server (like "209.81.71.236"), and almost immediately, anyone surfing to that domain connects to the correct server. -

make your own NO-IP service .. its not that difficult ... -
Havent had any luck with color cameras(nor low light color cameras including all chips and manus) in the nightclubs and bars down here, stick with BW, it will be a better crisper quality image and unlesss it is pitch dark it is a guaranteed image .. If it ever gets enough light for color mode then you could use a True Day Night camera, but still their BW level doesnt match a true BW camera.

Yep i know ... but its good to say it anyway

If client has the $$ you could use something like the GE Matrix and GE Keypad ... use the Loopout card for Geo and out to the mux, and then the keyboard controls which camera shows on which monitor .. can also control the GE PTZs
-
Stand Alones can be even less power, such as the GE's, but some will be the same and use PC power supplies also.

Prefocus the cameras at your office location. Do this in low light for Day Night cameras. When you goto the location you should not be wasting time focusing, especially when you have to deal with lighting issues like the glare from the sun, and also when dealing with Day Night setups. You can use a Ganz Viewfinder to get the exact focal length needed for each location.

4 Cameras and a DVR? All you need is a basic one ... like the APC 600 ... get the model with the AVR built in also. If you want longer backup time then you'd get a bigger one.
-
Alot of DVRs have modems built in ... might want to check that out .. the GE (Kalatel) RSMs ive used in the past .. but their DVRs even have that feature apparently .. never used the DVRs for that myself .
-
Yup .. check thios, it took 4 hours to partition, then i left it formatting for another 12 hours or so trying to recover this allocation and that ... gave up in the end ..
-
Got into it finally .. I used Bart-PE which let me see the files etc .. same thing, runs right off the CD .. anyway ... after confirming basically the last people formated or tried to format the drive and there was nothing on there .. talked here into a fresh Repartition and Format ... well that didnt work .. bad HDD .. so client is buying a new HDD .. Can Geovision play back 4 cameras in sync at same time?
rory replied to personalt's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
With Geo you can view in playback, single camera, 4 way, or 16 way. If it is set to motion detect on a camera then as you play or fast forward when that video has no motion it's box will be blank. If all Cameras areon Continous Record then it will play all cameras at the same time. You also have a feature called Day Night, allows different settings for different times, for each camera seperately .. eg. 7am-6.59pm, Continuous Record, 7pm-6.59am, Motion Record, or whichever way you want to do it, as well as Weekend Settings .. -

how much memory does the video have? Do you have C++ installed on the DVR? Could be malware, have you checked for that yet? Is it online, if so did you tweak it? Rory -
Pc based Vs Standalone or specific DVR.
rory replied to peshaw's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
What's the model of your DVR? Most budget standalone DVRs wont give you any kind of decent image quality and also not many features. As for a PC DVR, you can use a UPS with AVR to assist in the event of a power outage or brownout. Wavelet is actually high quality, but it is "less" compression. Depends on the DVR what it does with it though ... -
i used the expensive ones, GE... but i heard alot of people use Lilin ..
