    Indigo Vision

True, yeah took another look, seems they have improved the hardware specs since i checked last year .. they didnt do 30fps back then from what i remember ... and yeah the Acti software does needs some serious improvement .. Though acti does claim they do 1.5mbps for Real time video ... whats the specs on the Indigo Vision Bandwidth .. just curious ... ive not used either of them myself ..

    Laptop Issues

Well nothing more yet .. i just dont have any hardware to switch it out with .. i got 2 laptops here that are basically parts but their hard drives have different connections .. also. i couldnt get the CD drive out ... basically looks like you have to take the whole thing appart for that .. which is weird .. but then it IS a Dell! I did swap the memory but it was the wrong type .. beeps galore .. the laptops i got are a couple years old .. this one must be newer ... Oh yeah I could still get the HDD out just its different .. thing is she seems to think there are images on there, but in XP Repair mode ... i can only see the default installation directories .. not even Documents and Settings ./.. I think the last guys must have formatted it ... Lawd i detest NTFS... I cant even use my Boot Floppy to use Xcopy for the CD Drive ... Rory

I was told by the guy in the mAc store here that he can load Windows XP SP2 on a mac and boot it seperately ... dont know how true that is, didnt pay it much attention ... he did say it only worked with SP2.

Wave Reader http://www.geindustrial.com/ge-interlogix/software/WaveReader_Ver_4-0.ZIP Also the firmware puts everything back to default. So you'd need to totally set up the DVR again .. Also, here is my Software for the GE Kalatel DVRs .. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/WaveVue(Kalatel).zip

    XVision DVR

I can connect .. but then when logging in it fails .. are you sure that is the correct user & pass ... also, you may want to delete that info so google doesnt get it .. Also, you might want to check whether any other ports are requried to be forwarded .. Meanwhile, check this post .. kindof old but seems they are basically Geo cards .. Geo sells an SDK so maybe they are using that ... also Geo requires multiple ports to be opened, so perhaps this one does also. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=785&highlight=xvision Its also possible as from that thread, they are simply Geo Cards with the OEM (not SDK) software, using modified images, like what I have done in the past. D#%!! newfangled DSL modems!!!

sure, i just stuck with Cable
  13. Isnt DM's OS on the HDD? If so then thats probably the issue, or a power supply ... the one i tested felt too much like a PC which is why i never went DM back then ...
  14. Was it on a voltage regulator? Sounds like a hardware issue ..
  15. used to be, just on here right now is all .. basically what it is doing is assigning a new IP to the DVR and as the Router isnt forwarded to that new IP you get an issue .. have to make sure the DVR is 100% static .. subnet is normally 255.255.255.0, gateway being the routers IP, eg 192.168.1.1 ... and then make the DVR something else like 192.168.1.200 .. Port forward to that IP with ports 1024-1024 .. and should be good to go. Also, is your ISP IP a static or dynamic? Rory
  16. Disable dhcp .... that should fix it .. the gateway should also be set to the router's ip, and subnet also...
  17. definately a DSL issue .. audio (along with video) needs alot of bandwidth .. add that to the Wavelet compression .. DSL doesnt even work down here for remote video its too slow .. you guys are probably faster than us as far as the technology goes .. but maybe this particular ISP is more like ours in that respect ..

    Flat screen monitor recommendations

Optionally .. if money isnt an issue .. you could use the GE KTD-440 Matrix Switcher .. 64 Video in and 4 Monitor outputs (though you are only using 1 in this case) .. you can then use the CBR-KB3 keyboard to control that .. bring up whichever of the 64 cameras you want to bring up .. ---------------------------------------------------------- Digiplex IV is an expandable matrix switching system that manages video inputs and monitor outputs. It is designed for use in large CCTV systems. At the core of the system is the KTD-440 Master Switcher Chassis, which can manage 64 video inputs by 32 monitor outputs. With the addition of color-coded expansion cards and an expansion chassis, the KTD-440's matrix switching capabilities can be increased to 512 inputs by 64 outputs. Digiplex IV also offers video loss detection cards, which monitor video signals and alert users in the event of camera failure. # Industry-changing compression preserves picture quality # Base system: 64 video inputs by 4 monitor outputs; expands to 512 inputs by 64 outputs # Easy-to-install expansion chassis # Internal video loss detection # Built-in diagnostic LEDs # Transparent cross-mapped inputs # Video ribbon cable interconnect # Easy sequential switching # PC keyboard programmable -----------------------------------------------------

    Hidden microphone? Baby Cam

Yes, its been a while so cant remember 100%, either you need to splice the ground together or not .. just need a simple RCA cable though ... solid is the audio from the mic ... you may or may not need the ground connected ..
