  1. Msiexec.exe in Vista/7 will normally revert PSS back to the default skin if you use the shortcut created by the PSS install, using a manual shortcut direct to the PSSProject will not, using the mouse to copy etc manually will work but would need the script to run as admin to do it through code (thats where vbs etc comes in but I left it out in this to make it simpler). Thats why with the automated install it will (is supposed to anyway) copy to the Virtual Store path instead which PSS will use for data and skins if there are files there. It copies for 32 bit and is supposed to also for 64 bit but I never had a 64 bit to check out the actual path after the PSS install. Its in local app data, virtual store, program files folder.
  2. Added it here with the option of the installer or just the skin. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/cctv-software/dahua-software/dahua-pss-dpi-fix.asp
  3. Full PSS 4.05 Skin with everything set for DPI 120. Only thing I was unable to change was the NVD Control Window. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/PSS-DPI120-SKIN-FULL.rar Either run the batch file to install it automatically, or copy the Custom\Skin folder to the Installed PSS Skin Path. Let me know if it works on Vista/7 as I have not tested on that.
  4. Glad it worked, I will throw together a full skin update for that and put it on my site for download.

    Gadspot 650TVL Dome Cameras

Its D1 at 60fps total (max recording rate), so going by that it would be 15fps each channel The Dahua are standard 7fps each channel D1, they also have Full D1 models with 30fps D1 each channel. Will PM you on where to check them out.

Still, its just a $40 camera. Its good for small offices and rooms. IR Bullets are better for outdoor Infrared.

    Gadspot 650TVL Dome Cameras

I wouldn't say that entirely, the reason if anything for getting a 600 or even now a 700TVL camera is that you know it has the latest technology and features. If its a 480TVL camera, although it likely works just as well, it could be an old discontinued cameral. Some of the older TDN 480TVL Infrared Bullets actually give a better day and night image than many new 600TVL cameras (I have tested). Now they put so much into all the OSD features and Stronger Infrared they tend to drop the ball on the rest. Additionally you want to use RG59 and the right power. Thin RCA cables are okay for very short distances but thats about it, plus they pick up much more interference. Get the RG59 Siamese cable instead. The IR distance they claim for that camera seems inaccurate though. Highly unlikely to get more than 30' outside with any eyeball IR dome. Not sure what DVR you have now, but I would recommend the Dahua DVRs. Sold in the US under many names including QVis which is what I use now.

    Gadspot 650TVL Dome Cameras

1-its cheap, dont expect much 2-DVR is responsible for the final result Even if the camera has 900+ pixels, its still recording the same pixels as the 480TVL camera. Max 720x480.

KT&C 700TVL 45IR TDN Camera is now available in the US. 2.8-12mm, 50 meters IR, Dual Voltage, 976x494 pixels. http://www.ktncusa.com/english/viewtopic.php?t=929 Model: KT&C KPC-N701NU, approx retail $250
  11. Unzip the following to the PSS skin path. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/PSSSkinDPI_test.zip Example PSS Skin Path: C:\Program Files\Pro Surveillance System(EN)\Skin\Default\ May differ depending on your install of PSS and the OS. It only effects the Options Window in this test. Let me know if it looks normal after updating with this.
  12. Actually I just checked and you are right it can be done with skins.
  13. Cant do that as that is part of PSS, the code itself can only be changed by them. BUT, everything with PSS is controlled by settings contained in INI and XML files. So a 3rd party program could be created to be run separate of PSS, or the PSS options window could be hooked when it is opened, to show the custom program instead.
  14. After changing DPI make sure to restart. Maybe I will look at making a custom PSS setup program.

Also tell them the audio uses BNC not RCA

They should double check their images, they show a GeoVision IR Remote control next to the Dahua DVR.
  17. Yes he is correct, spec sheets shows it as TDN Seems it is just not as sensitive in low light as the 24F, an its only 12VDC where the 24F is dual voltage.

    ex82 stuck in night mode

Just a note also, have to take the guts of the camera almost all out to get the old IR lead out and put the new one in, careful when you pull on that stuff as some other wires can come loose easily. I think the last one I did with the camera still mounted, but obviously it might be easier if you can take it down. It was like one whole batch of them from a few years back, all the photocells went bad, ended up swapping most of them out for new cameras in the end.
  19. No the BBM-20 is not True day Night http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?inc=spe&seqx_prod=1096#p_v1
  20. Its not listed under Dahua Product Downloads, its a custom build from the SDK demo: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/cctv-software/dahua-dvr-users.asp
  21. Havent tested DSS for that, but the DVRs and users are setup with a browser based app on the server, the clients log in with the DSS Client software and the list of DVRs assigned to them are displayed without any setup required. It still uses skins though.
  22. Yes you can login with admin, create the temp account, log out then log back in with the temp account to change admin's password, then log out and back in with admin and delete the temp account. This ofcourse is only if you want to change admin's password, which is recommended. You can use PSS, or even the custom built "Dahua DVR Users" software downloadable on my site. I normally also delete the built in user 666666 as that user and admin are both accessible remotely. Then I create a separate user with live and playback permissions which I standardize for all the DVRs to make it easier to remember - Admin being the only account used for remote config of the DVR. Sometimes I also setup individual user accounts but generally they dont care about all that. Unfortunately as PSS uses skins and they dont resize them accordingly, it will always be out of whack at higher DPI settings. There is something they could do in their code to make it work either way, but they either dont know or just dont bother.
  23. BBM-24F is True Day Night (Mechanical IR Cut Filter AKA ICR). Neither have IR, they are just Day Night box cameras. Add your infrared separately.

You have to order it from Bosch. It plugs in so no soldering required. Or you could try to source your own photocell, take the old one out and try to match it up, can always splice into the 2 wires so you keep the same plug.
  25. As mentioned the default admin login is admin/admin. to change that password remotely: 1-setup a temporary admin account then login with that instead of admin 2-change the admin password using that temporary account 3-login with admin and delete the temporary account You can't delete accounts; admin, default, 888888 You can delete the user account 666666 888888 is a local only account
